Social media can be such a mine of information, yet most people don't use it for this and instead think that it's only to get people to follow you and promote your posts and products on! But social media is one of the best things to use for coming up with content generation ideas. You know, the people that YOU follow are the ones that can be useful for this purpose. And this method involves following those people, those ideal candidates or clients. Follow them and then you'll see what kinds of things they are sharing and talking about. Look at what they're sharing and what they're commenting on. Just those things alone should be enough to come up with topics you can create content from.

And of course, those people that are following you can also be utilized in ways that can help you come up with content generation ideas too. And it's a bit of a more direct approach. But those people are likely following you because they like or are interested in your brand, products or services. And by doing that, (posting and sharing great content) you'll likely attract more followers. But one way is to literally ask them some questions. This could be something like "what's the biggest problem you face while working?" Or "what problems do you face as a blogger?" Just from the answers alone that's enough to come up with some great topic ideas for content that you can cover.

I have to admit, I didn't jump on the #hashtag phenomenon at first and it took me a while to start using #hashtags in my social media posts and longer before I started using them to find things with. And a lot of your "ideal followers or clients" wont always follow you. But by using popular #hashtags, you can find them! So as a way to get content generation ideas, put together a list of keywords, buzzwords etc for your niche and then search these on social media using the # (hashtag) symbol. This can open up a whole new world of possible content ideas!

Questions and Answers
Now this method is another way that you can not only utilize for content ideas, but also a way you can get some free advertising and promotion as well. You remember how I said from the start how most of these ideas can be utilized in that way as well? Well this is one of them. What it involves is collating a list of those industry leaders. Well check them out and look at how people interact with them. Quite often you'll see people asking them questions. Sometimes they'll answer and this is where you can get the content ideas from. But sometimes they don't (mainly because they are very busy). This is where you can step in and answer their questions where they failed to with your own content and links. Sometimes these might get deleted but mostly they wont.

And that's basically how you can use social media to come up with content generation ideas and topics you can cover. As well as using it to get some free advertising and promotion of your website business right from under the noses of your very competitors or those industry leaders too.
