For me, conducting a case study is important simply because it helps you know if what you are about to do or launch is feasible or not. This helps prevent wasting a lot of time, energy, and resources since you are doing a careful study instead of starting things recklessly. Case studies can also serve as a good reference where you get ideas from people who have done things successfully so you won't commit the same mistakes that can waste a lot of things. you even learn what successful people learned from years of experience in just one sitting. A case study is very useful be it in freelancing or business.
A big dividend of case studies is it helps you known how much your new project or endeavor is going to cost you in the short and long run. Once you have a rough estimate of how much you might have to spend, you can then possibly look for ways to do things a bit differently and maybe cut costs. Thus your project might be able to be done on a budget.
Doing a case study is very laborious especially when you have to do some data gathering. And although the internet is filled with information, you still need an effort to find what you are looking for. And when it comes to figures, the estimates are usually not accurate and mostly in ballpark estimates so you have to be careful because you might be surprised with the actual numbers. I am talking about the budget which can ruin your timeline as far as the business is concerned.
Before starting any project it's best to analyze several case studies made that are related to your project. This will give you access to relevant data gathered on past implemented projects hence giving you a heads up on both strengths and weaknesses of a certain design or action. It's better to look for 'versus' case studies because its faster to map.
You're correct on the need for us to look for case studies that tend to compare one event to the other. Mapping them out is always easier and can be done better unlike some other form of case studies where one would have to try harder in convincing the readers on what it is all about.
Every case study has an objective. In order the get results on the objective you must find tools that help you with the results. I don't know if they have certain tools that they require in your case study. Some tools like the "Why analysis" , 4M1E , and "fishbone anlysis" are used to identify the main point of a problem. I suggest you focus on the objective and choose the right tool for the analysis.
Understanding the objective if each case study is very important and necessary for the researcher to note where the experiment is heading to.
There is need for us to always realize the need for each case study that we conduct and look at ways that we can improve the results considering the objectives that we've set out on it.
Personally, I hate doing case studies especially when it is being required in school but the importance is that you will learn how to research properly. You will gain a lot of information as well. I think doing case studies is also a way of making a legit study and how reliable and true it is. Because nowadays, acquiring information from different resources must be tested true and reliable first. I know its hard to make some case studies but it will improve your researching skill, tools and techniques.
I believe that case studies are very important to the success of the project. Just like in boxing or in any other field, there is always a practice or training. In boxing, you will go through sparring ad do a lot of exercises. Boxers who are industrious say that the real boxing is easier because they have already passed through rigid training.
Case studies are very crucial before starting any new project because case study involves a laborious research an analysis of the various aspects related to the project. A case study which is done through reliable organizations can be very helpful to give us a broad guideline about the various aspects and possibilities related to our project. If one proceeds without undertaking a proper case study related to the project, it will definitely have an impact on the success of the project in the long run
