How does your writing changes people?

One of the most important thing to a writer is changing peoples' feelings after they read something he/she wrote. I am just interested in your opinion! Is that change important to you? Have you ever changed after reading a good book, article or a blog? Or, did your writing cause anyone to change?

To have that positive effect on you readers is one of the best achievements a writer could have. To think that by your writing someone have an affirmative reflection about life, your words touching their lives and communicating with their being. Really the aim of every writer is to connect. And knowing that you had a positive effect on your reader is a proof that you are a good or even a great writer.

I remember my post here in this forum entitled "What is a Writer's Dream?". That explains my dream and purpose as a writer. To inspire someone, to make a positive impact in their lives and to bring them closer to God with my writings.

I agree with this. I think that a real writer should aim to have an impact on anyone that reads their writing. I frequently read the books or blog of Iyanla Vanzant a spiritual teacher. Her writings and the way she uses her words heal my soul and cause me to take action. By reading her blog on a regular basis, I have learned how to adore myself and love my own company. I have learned that no matter what happens I will be just fine. This is powerful writing and this is what writing should be.

Information is also important as when you give people the information you give them the power to change their lives. I read a lot of informational content from time to time and rely on the details to change certain life aspects or operate in a certain manner.

It actually depends on a writer and the type of writing that she's into. There may be writers whose aim is to inform. But, yes, I agree with you that writers should always think of inspiring people though it may not be everyday, a writer should always find a way to inspire people as it's what we need to keep going.

If you really connect with what you are writing then definitely it may impact and have some form of deep affection from the people that you are trying to reach. This is because you will write in a more passionate manner.

I don’t think I could say that my writing has changed people on a wider scale, but I’d like to think that I’ve helped some people through whatever minor contact they’ve had with my writing, whether it’s in blog posts or just the comments here.

I like writing and talking about human psychology, mostly because so many of us have experienced many strong negative emotions to some degree. As someone who has been through a lot myself, I like to talk about the dark sides of our minds, my own experiences, and maybe help bring a little light to them. If nothing else my goal is to make people who are having a hard time feel like they aren’t alone, even if I can’t help them change.

Some people have told me that I’ve done just that for them, and that’s enough for me.

There’s always time, my man. As long as we live with positive intentions and have compassion in our hearts for one another, there will always be opportunities to leave a positive impact on those around us.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s in our writing or just in our day to day interactions, there’s always the chance to make someone’s day a little bit brighter through compassion and understanding. In fact, sometimes just listening can do more than just always talking or writing.

That’s wonderful of you to say, and I greatly appreciate the compliment! The last few days have been a bit of a bummer for me so it’s definitely helped improve my mood. I’ve enjoyed my interactions here with you as well.

In any case, I like to learn a little bit about everything which I suppose can give off the vibe that I’m a well-informed dude. I can’t say that I’m that much of a scholar, but like I said, I like to learn at least a little bit about something new every day.

As for humor, I’ve always loved making people laugh because it feels great to make others happy, so I always try to sneak in some humor here and there whenever possible

I read one book recently has really changed how I look at things. The writer knew its impact and promised to pay $5 if the book fails to change your way of thinking.

i do not know if I have impacted people either positively or negatively.

I just only hear one of the contents of the book on our meeting, the book of Tomas Andres(Understanding of Filipino Values) is about how you manage the manpower, to be better a leader. I just realize the other aspect of business is really easy to manage but the manpower, tsk -you can say is really a hard ache.

Not entirely change but I have given then thoughts and realizations that may have enlightened them to continue living. I write to entertain people and make them smile in a sense that they also learn something from my writing. I write to inform people wherein they would get something useful in that writing.

I have a post here a few days ago entitled "What is a Writer's Dream?" and I think that is related to your topic. It is said that pen is mightier than sword and that is true. Our words are very powerful beyond our imagination. A single word can change lives. Our words are powerful that it can change people positively or negatively. So be very careful how we use our words. In my post, I stated that my dream is to influence other people and bring them closer to God through my works. My purpose as a writer is to glorify God through the ministry of my pen.

There's this book that really thought me a lot of things. I read it when I was in high school it tackles about a lot sensitive topic, like bullying and rape. It is a very emotional book, but I have learned a lot from it.

Well, I think that there are a lot of books, blogs or similar written work which has inspired me and changed my views about a lot of things. I think it is a part of our growing up as an individual and also as a writer. Have I inspired anyone through my writing? The answer to that question will be, I really don't know whether that has happened or not. I mean people have liked my work but never told me that something that I have written has inspired them. I think I will be very happy and satisfied when someone acknowledges that my work has inspired them in doing something.

I write a lot about travel destinations, and I hope my writing has changed people by encouraging them to visit somewhere new or head off that well-worn path to some lesser known spots. Yes I have experienced before when I read a particular book wherein I was motivated and change the way I view certain things in my life. It was good because it change my life from a negative thinker before into a positive one now which is simply amazing. I have never thought that for just reading everything will change.

Yes reading could be a good way to waste our precious time since we are benefiting a lot form it and besides it can change our life and views into certain things. Contents that I have written is not really into inspirational type of article but more of information. So if you are to ask me how it changes people, I think it is by keeping them informed and providing them knowledge that they can use in the future.

It can be hard to tell whether some you wrote had a positive impact on the reader. I've read numerous motivational books and articles and though they inspired me to change, unfortunately that was but an ephemeral effect. That I suppose is the best a writer who is trying to change people should hope for.

For those who write primarily to inform, if someone understands what you wrote and they've got no further questions, you'd have successfully passed on some knowledge to that person. Is that change? I don't know.

This is difficult to answer maybe because i am not a story writer who can elicit emotions thru their writings. As a short article writer the only change that I can cause is to lessen the ignorance of people on the subject because I always try to share something that will benefit the reader. Other than that maybe I can also make people smile or even laugh sometimes particularly when the discussion is light.

Exactly! I completely understand and agree with you on this about not knowing whether your writing changes people or not.

It's actually hard to change people's minds but it's a lot more easier to inform people with what you write.

I've read a book before that really changed my perspective towards the things around me. It taught me to be patient and dedicated. For now, I'm still working onto my content and I hope that it could also help other people to change their perspective as I experienced.

In most of my experiences reading someone's writing, I will reflect and attempt to change if the message is significantly good and worth the change. That is considered a great success as a writer, and I believe the only way to find out if our writing creates an impact is when it garners large followings and comments.

I don't know if I have inspired specific people with my writing. But, what I know is that, I have been inspired by most writers of the books that I had read. Actually, I look for books to read that can inspire me. So, I really have an experience of being inspired by what I read. It's good in the feeling, it energizes my soul and wants me to keep going with my life.

There are some useless and badly written books that adds no value to your life no matter how many times you read them.

My answer, I admit it now, is that I do not know. But I think that analyzing the question can lead to some interesting reflections. I believe that no writer can know at what exact moment he or she began to change the perspective of others. It is rather a process, something that has happened in the past, from which the writer can no longer be separated.

I'm so into reading but I don't think I can I write so I'll just read. I really love authors because I know I'll never be able to do what they can. They have the power to give the readers the experience of becoming the character of their book by just reading their works. Well that would be one of the very reason why you are reading or writing something aside from sharing or gaining knowledge. Writers most of the time wants the readers to be moved of what they have read. That way there is a communication happening between the reader and the writer. It is very important to write something that your readers might relate or get information from which makes them inspired and the like.

Well I'm not sure exactly because I never asked the people if I changed them somehow. I'm a public figure, I have a group on Facebook with 6, 000k people as my audience. I usually comment about events happening in my country. I think judging by the comments and likes that I receive I can say that I do affect them somehow. Their perspective of the world. As a journalist it's quite important for me.

Well it would depend on what content I am creating. I can change a person's concept on my stories or writings when I am more focusing on myself, people around me, the community or simply making poems and verses that catch people's eyes on it. One thing I do enjoy is to motivate people with words or expressions. Knowing that they do not have to suffer and feel alone and know that I am here to help and guide them is a great feeling for a writer. So inspiring and to guide is one way of how I am able to change people nowadays.

I think so too that it is good for the writer to be writing something that can influence the mind of the people. However, it is not that easy although I have experienced that in my blogs before. The niche was pets and some of my blogs were about the details of pet caring particularly the food. Definitely I had an influence on the readers because what I was writing was about my experience so it is guaranteed to work.
