Content Generation Idea: Using Customer Testimonials

If your website is a business website which sells things like products or services and you've been trading for a while already and done a lot of business with your buyers and clients then the chances are that you will have have people (buyers/clients) that will want to write a positive customer testimonial about you, your business, product or service they purchased along with their experience of that and your business as a whole. Which you can then turn into content for your sites blog!

Content Generation Idea: Using Customer Testimonials

And this can make for some super great content for your site. Especially if it's a positive testimony about your product, service or business. But even those that say negative things about you can still be worth publishing since you can follow up on them with a follow up response to those negative things like how you've changed since or procedures you've put in place since to prevent it from happening again. And that can actually earn you a lot of respect since it shows your transparency and honesty in your willingness to show the good and the bad about your product, service or business. Since most businesses only prefer to post about the good things people say about them!

Turning Testimonials into Blog Posts

Now it's not always easy and straight forward to just post a customer testimonial to your blog as a post. There are some challenges that you might face with it and these are that the testimony might not really be perfect for a full blog post. Some testimonials are quite short and in a day and age where long content outranks short content and gets more shares. It might not be so easy and straightforward to make a post from it. What you could do is write some stuff about why you're publishing that particular testimonial on your site. Such as picking up on specific things said within it. A break down of why you think they made it and said what they said within it. So much so that you could end up with enough words to be able to post it to your blog.

You could always ask your customers, buyers and or clients to write a super long testimonial for you. But most people don't want or have the time to do that. You could reward people for doing so though and say that if it's a good testimonial you'll give them a unique discount code which they can use to save and get money off something on your site. And some people would go for that and write you a really long testimonial that would make for a fantastic blog post.

Aggregate Multiple Testimonials

Another thing you can do, if you have many testimonials that are quite short, you could aggregate all or some of these into just one post. The good thing about doing this is that you can cover many good, neutral or even negative things about your business. You can then paraphrase each testimony and put in your follow up to it. Having multiple testimonies and follow up responses on and in one blog post can make that a very juicy blog post to read for people that are looking for reasons to buy from you. So much so in fact that you absolutely should be doing this anyway even if you already have all the content generation ideas you could ever need! Content Generation Idea: Using Customer Testimonials

Conclusion
Customer testimonials can make for some outstanding free content for your blog. Especially as some people may have a lot to say on the matter when it comes to your site or products/services etc. And this can all be turned into content for your site that can be helpful to people that are considering using your site or business to buy something from. Just try not to post only those good/positive ones but also the negative ones as well since you can post a follow up response to them.

That is a fantastic idea. Besides helping you gain content for your blogs, interviewing the customers can help you gain their loyalty. They really love it when their opinions are taken seriously as it shows the business holds them with high value.

On top of the ways you have given above, the use of a suggestion box would help a milestone in collecting customer opinions. They can be issued with questionnaires, to easen their work and ensure you get the most relevant information out of them.

Furthermore, in some businesses, it's good to make customer follow up after a transaction. During the follow up, the business can find important information to include in their blog.

I haven't updated my blog anymore but I have put there a review box where they can leave a rating and well, a review on how they think the article was after reading it. I don't promote my blog yet so I haven't got some reviews but that is what I do to get reviews. It is imperative that you always make use of those nice words because some don't even care if they'd leave with or without a review.

This is similar to the advertisements of movies that are shown in the theaters. Usually on the second day of showing of a movie, it has an advertisement on tv that shows some of the audience with their short comments about the movie. Of course, all the comments are positive even if the movie is rubbish. Testimonials are nice t be elaborated especially when you are writing about a product that is already selling good. At least you don’t need to spin, just write about the truth of the matter.

Testimonials and quotes are a good way of giving your content a more personable feel. Its always good for someone else to confirm or acknowledge your story.

Sources of good testimonials could be:
Valued member of the community.
Eyewitnesses to the event.
Respected people in various fields of expertise. Etc.

A testimonial can break or make your story.

I think this could work as a content generation idea especially if you are not writing about your own product. I know that because of the popularity of E-commerce people use customer testimonials and reviews as a way to make purchasing decisions, because they don't have the luxury of seeing and feeling the product because it is online. You could combine the customer testimonials of a number of customers and reach your own conclusion.

Turning testimonials and reviews into a blog post can be a very smart and intelligent move. People who are satisfied with your products or the services you offer will mostly have very positive things to say about your business and you can use this goodwill to attract new customers to your business. Most of the potential customers will always study the testimonials and reviews and then take the final decision of buying from you. Once they are reassured about your product through these testimonials they are very likely to buy from you.
