Content niches are not equal with each other

When it comes to choosing the right niche for a new website or a blog you have to know that not all niches are equal.

Some niches simply can drive the same amount of traffic as others, for example, articles talking about legal problems won't have the same potential on getting viral as articles talking about Kim Kardashian.

On this note, I'm going to share a list of top niches:
Content niches are not equal with each other

For some reason, I always thought that Entertainment subjects will be the most popular niche you can choose to write about, apparently is not. Health and Fitness related content have a lot of weight and huge potential.

Although as content writers such general niches may be paid less than let's say, Science-based articles, I'm sure with enough professionalism and the right doze off "uniqueness" you will be able to find the right client out there to sell your writing at the value it deserves.

I'm really really surprised to see that Fashion is on the bottom of the list! I've always seen the fashion industry as a super large, super competitive industry seeing as fashion includes everything we wear and people will always need clothes to wear. And I would have figured that Technology was higher up on that list as well as tech is a massive industry right now and is growing exponentially. Where did you find this list from Cristian? Are you sure that it's accurate and relevant and from an up to date source? What are those "Placements" referring to? Is that ad placements on their site/service that you got this image from? And how did they determine what the average amount of social shares are for each industry? I can't see how they can measure that accurately because it really all depends on the content. You can have blogs that are blogging about those things that are high on this list such as Health & Fitness, Drugs & Alchohol, Travel etc but the content can be really dull and not very shareable. But you can also have blogs blogging about things on the bottom of this list like Fashion, Business, Pets etc and the content can be really good and really shareable. So I think it really all depends on the content and not the industry? You'd think so anyway?

But you're right in that some niches to drive more traffic than other niches. Even if your content is amazing. That's because some niches have a different type of user and demographic of user seeking out that content compared to other niches who have different demographics of users. And the demographics of those users determine how likely they are to share it on social media, or not. Content niches are not equal with each other

I find fashion boring to be honest. I don't get it and I don't find it interesting. I know what I like and when I see it in a store I buy it, but I don't search online for anything fashion related.

Just like me. Honestly, it's irritating when some guys automatically assume, that I'm into fashion just for being a woman. I can't stand the fashion TV channel, I'm sorry if someone feels hurt, but that's stupid, like all day long taking about who dressed what and where? Get a job or do something more productive with their life. I'm very specific about what I want to wear, and I like to keep it fancy, minimalist, and elegant, no way I'm going out on the street looking like a clown just because is "trendy".

I also agree that there are niches that can get you more traffic. However, it is not exactly the popularity that dictates the traffic of the niche so my take is to choose the niche that I love. When the niche is my passion then I will enjoy writing about it and traffic will come naturally with my original contents. So that means the type of niche will not matter much when you are already established with your website.

I do think that anything related to entertainment has better chances in becoming viral because most people generally likes entertainment niches. It's a very very broad niche and unlike niches like fishing or psychology, entertainment niches are more volatile because if the sheer number of people interested in it.

Health and fitness is insanely huge. Literally everyone is talking about it and tons of freelancers are trying to setup their business in the health or fitness niche. Weight-loss products for instance, is a crazy hot product to sell, but it's still hard to make sales. Most people can't make a living off of selling such products but some people will have super success. However I could never imagine the huge gap between health and fitness and drugs & alcohol. The gap between health and fitness and all the others are totally insane. Thanks for sharing this, I appreciate it.

Yay Drugs and Alcohol.... one of my niches. And you know what I am finding that people love my content in that niche and so does Google Content niches are not equal with each other

This website was supposed to be like a hobby, but it is looking like it might turn into my biggest earner with time so I have been spending some more time writing on it recently and I even just finished writing an eBook which I am selling on ListingDock.

I have noticed that people like to share my content for my addiction website. Nice to see it is number 2 on your list here!

There are niches that only concern the local interests/audience and that could really get good traffic for the blogger. Every country, every State is interested in acquiring knowledge on issues typical to that country.
Mardi Gras for example is not a global event. There is so much one can write about it.

Woah. I always thought that Sports and Fashion will always be at the top but I guess things really have changed now. And drugs and alcohol are second to the top. Maybe it also counts the negative effects shares specially the health related ones which made it to where it is now. But Fashion being at the bottom? Now that is really a shocker.

I totally agree with fitness and health niches. Nowadays, people are more interesting in feeling good, and doing activities that increase their health. Didn't expect to see drugs and alcohol in the second place, but obviously those niches are becoming more popular due to the fact, they're very educational/controversial, so for sure they earn a good spot in the chart. As I said before in another comment, not amazed about fashion position, not every woman is crazy about it.

A lot of people are into fitness, sports and healthy living and it's a general thing, this makes it a high traffic niche because it's relevant to everyone.

A healthier living has become relevant nowadays, which is good. What people needs to take care about, is not to become obsessed with it, and that's the bad consequence. It's ok to make it become a perfect niche to blog, vlog, and forums, but is also a field to make people sick about it, that's where the administrators should be working on, so they can check and avoid bad publicity, or terrible/dangerous advices on them.

I'm also surprised would expect fashion to be first.Especially since it's a multi billion dollar industry. Fitness and health, really just refuses to go away. Maybe because health is really important and all of us want to take better care of ourselves. I think also because everyone is looking for the secret to eating what you want and still losing weight. Whoever comes up with that formula is the next Bill Gates. I also agree that you need to chose a popular niche to get enough traffic.
