There is no doubt about how informative radio stations are when it comes to breaking news that happens especially in the part of the world where the radio station is situated. Although there are foreign radio stations that tell you what happens all over the world but I think that people tune in more to the radio stations that are in their area of proximity.

The bad thig with international radio is that you will have to switch to another channel as they may bring somethings or shows which might be too foreign to you. I am a fan of international radio myself but sometimes their content just does not fit me.

As long as the information they are passing across their radio wave is true, I don't have any problems whatsoever with it. I would simply pick or listen to one's that are of importance to me and ignore the rest. Although there are some radio stations that are very good with propagating lies, once it gets to such scenario, I would rather play music than waste my time listening to craps.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You know it can be difficult to know when you are being fed lies about another area. However the one strategy I use is that I verify information first if it seems too scandalous before believing. If I find that the radio station is lying then I would never catch mysf listening to them ever again.

I agree with you. Its really hard to compare the two on how they can make our time satisfied with their service. Maybe we just get used to it using the radio at home like what our parents using everyday. "Sundays Best", my dad loves to listened that radio station every Sunday it's all about oldies. Podcast are way awesome too. You can choose topics you want to listened too but yeah make sure you have internet connection when using it.

Great choice about music and their preference in radio shows. This is normally the case when you find that channel which you identify with and they play the kind of music you love.

Podcasts are the best when you are thinking of getting better with a whole lot of contents. Some of the language teachers make use of podcasts to pass information across and that is one aspect of it which is really great for us as well. I ain't saying that radio is not okay though.

Thats right both has advantages and disadvantages. Podcast is helpful and timely but since its streaming it requires good internet connection unlike radio, just plug it and you can start listening without intermittent.

I can’t say that I was ever much of a fan of listening to the radio. Pretty much the only times I’d ever listen to it was if I was driving or at work. I worked in construction for a while so it was kind of a standard for workers to listen to the radio while
slaving away.

That being said, I definitely enjoy listening to podcasts. I’m not too familiar with the podcast scene, but a couple of my favorite YouTubers started doing podcasts so I inadvertently started listening to them. I usually listen while I’m doing chores or cooking, and sometimes before bed because it can be relaxing to just tune out to random talking.

I have yet to listen to a podcast although I was in my niece's studio one time to witness her do her nightly podcast of 2 hours. I had seen that a podcast is just like a radio program although different in medium since it is not an air broadcast but a streaming broadcast. I still go for the radio when I want to listen to music or to a news report or to a commentator. Streaming here is slow and it is sometimes annoying if the broadcast is intermittent.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is so true. One thing that we need to consider in listening podcast is the internet connection. One way or another is that we can download some podcast streamed but it still requires internet to download it. Radio is the best when it comes for listening specially the news and current affairs.

I think podcasts are better in terms of selective content. They're more focused and streamlined to showcase insightful thoughts about certain topics. Radio is more accessible and mainstream. It's more about the simplicity of turning it on and finding the right station that fits your mood.

Come ooon. We are in 2018 where bundles are the thing. You cannot probably say that you cannot access podcasts if you want. Its all about being selective my friend.

I do listen occasionally and i think podcast are very enticing. Although podcast is popular nowadays, i think there's a lot of room for improvement in this platform. I haven't tried podcasting, but i think i'll leave it to people that more suitable for the platform.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. While it's fun to think of doing podcasts, there's also a lot of effort and commitment entailed for it. Kind of like producing Youtube videos. Podcasts are even expected to be more professional compared to usual content.

It's because it caters to a specific group of people with shared interests. If you don't do it right, they'll surely be the first ones to notice the lack of quality.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah it actually depends to our choices at all. Some people wanted to listen in podcast and some other wont, well it all depends on the person between what they want.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Its just like Youtube vs Tv content. Both have tgeir periods when you would choose one over the other. The content on podcasts is better since you can control what you want to listen to though.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I agree. I haven't listened to a lot of podcasts. But I see myself using it more than the standard radio stations. I prefer listening to engaging conversations. Stuff that sparks creativity in the minds of the listeners. Unlike radio where you get blasted with music and loud radio personalities.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Hahahaha I relate with what you have said over there about loud radio personities. Sometimes they do not have anything positive for the listeners but just keep us occupied. It is better to listen to podcasts that are rather optional on the type of content one wishes for.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's so true! I feel like radio personalities are somewhat becoming less relevant with the rise of podcasts and alternative forms of media.

This is why I've noticed their desperate pleas for attention. While it's common for people to play a character to make themselves more interesting, most amateur radio DJs have resorted to being bombastic to the point of being bombarding.

It's like my ears are being assaulted by the sound of rifle shots nearby. Not a very good experience, I tell you.

Most, if not all, podcasts have high standards. The same cannot be said of local radio personalities. Often they're already bordering on being obnoxious, rude, and unbecoming.

Nowadays while listening to radio, I'm usually like, "Where's the professionalism in that?"

Radio content is not good anymore. Aside from that, we now have to put up with somewhat entitled people.

It's often radio DJs forget that what they're doing is not child's play. It's not something to make fun of. It's a job that has responsibilities. And being courteous doesn't make you any less interesting or entertaining. In fact, it shows that you're kind and considerate.

This is why I have fully switched to podcasts. I can wholeheartedly say that they're on a different level altogether.

Both have things I like about them! Lately I’ve really been getting into podcasts though, especially motivational ones - I like when I can learn stuff just through listening to them!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I really enjoy Ted Talks as well! Lots of really fantastic speakers on there, with great anecdotes and stories to tell. I find a lot of them really inspiring!

I love Teltalks also. When I was in Dubai for a job my bestfriend there introduced me to Tedtalks. I really had no idea about it at first. I was like keep asking her what was all about. Until she handed me her mobile phone and let me watched how it was going. From that time I started downloading Tedtalks podcast.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, I'm also familiar with those. It's like you're also part of the audience. It's a great way to attend such events without having to be there yourself. TED talks have revolutionized talk gatherings.

So true my friend. I have grown emotionally through listening to such podcasts and I hope that I can continue getting more motivational tips from the best speakers in my phone.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, it's a heartwarming experience. I find it easier to put them on speaker than listening using headphones. I feel like I'm with the audience whenever I do that.

I imagine how it would be like to experience such a gathering even though it's all in my head. The speaker shares such interesting ideas about life and the world around us.

Is it just me or do podcasts feel like a more digestible form of audio books? They're different in terms of content and functionality. But you can't deny the similarities when it's right in front of you.

It's like podcast episodes are the table of contents of what would make an audio book. I guess it's part of the attraction. It's more of a serial continuation rather than a long-winded book.

I'm usually online 24/7 and sometimes I get tired watching and listening to podcasts, when that happens I switch to internet radio for some great music.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yes I agree. Internet radio is other options. It offers good music and will relax you as well. It really doesnt matter which one is the best, either podcast, radio or even internet radio what matters most is the relaxing and comfortability that these can offers to us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, that's new. Have you tried Spotify? It seems the new radio internet. You also have more control over the type of music you listen to. There are lots of interesting music there. Also, they have podcasts if you ever feel like listening again.

I rarely listen to radio nowadays because I can't choose what is being played or what is being discussed depending on my available time. Commercials also take up too much time and interrupt the flow of the discussion.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is the problem of others. Radio has lots of commercials because radio stations are paying by these commercials. Without commercials no income from the station. Too many of it makes me bored also.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's the sad part. If it wasn't for companies paying for advertisements, radios would've probably stopped way long ago. It seems that most stuff nowadays have switched to the online network sphere.

Also, it's easier to watch a 5-seconds Youtube ad and hit "Skip."

Radios don't even have an option to skip commercials. They also have multiple annoying songs that aren't even sung well. What's up with that?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, you're right about that. I'm often annoyed by the commercial breaks. Not only do the conversations get cut, you're also forced to listen to these ridiculous commercials.

They're not even intelligent anymore. I don't know who these companies are hiring to market their products and services. One thing's for sure. It's not making me more attracted to buy their products. I know others who feel the same way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Russet
In y experience there are more advertisements on podcasts than on radio, but at least you can fast forward through them. To me it is just the same as my decision to cancel cable and use only streaming TV. I get what I want, when I want.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's a funny way of putting it. But you said perfectly. People want entertainment on demand. This is why they've switched to using the internet. Everything they could ever want to watch is already there.

And they wouldn't have to wait for a certain time of the day to watch their favorite shows. It makes me wonder how Cable TV is still a thing even though it's gradually losing its top place as a relevant media platform.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

If there's a certain topic in a channel I'm subscribed to that I like to hear then I watch podcasts but in a normal day I listen to music on radio online.

I'm not a fan of podcasts, to be honest. I just don't find them interesting because it's weird listening to something and not having anything visual to see. I love listening to the radio though, having some of my favourite songs come on the radio is a great feeling and it just puts you in a great mood as well.

Advertisers always go where the audience is. So podcasts now also have advertising o them, you can't get away fro it. The world needs money and you get money from selling something. I like podcast because you can get life information from them. The problem with radio is that its Entertainment only.Gone are the old days when radio was educational. Now its music and social discussion. Its educational in its way, but not the kind, lets cal it real life experience type of education.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You have a nice point. I often find myself wondering the same thing. It could be due to the changes in society. I find that most of the youth today is too busy entertaining themselves along with the masses. Like talent and singing competitions. Following celebrities, movies, and TV shows.

It's good to have culture and all that. But it seems that they've become so preoccupied in that aspect of life that they forgot the importance of intellectual discussions. Well, it really is up to us on what we choose to do with our time. I hope more people realize that always being entertained isn't the same as having lived a full life.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can tell you point blank that I neither enjoy listening to radio or podcasts, there are the two piece of technology of mass media that I would say that I have outgrown and they have outlived their usefulness to me. I seriously cannot remember the last day when I listened to a radio that I turned on myself unless I'm in public transportation and the driver tune in to the radio station.

Radio stations are like TV shows. Podcasts are like on-demand streaming services like Netflix.

I like that I can choose what I want to listen to in podcasts whenever I want. I have the freedom to do so. Radio stations on the other hand, you have to wait for a certain time slot for a certain show to go on air. Maybe if I'm tired of podcasts, I'd tune in to radio stations for a change of pace. But 9 out of 10 times I'd choose podcasts over radio stations.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. They're just more versatile and convenient. I don't like listening to random songs on the radio. Not when I have Youtube and the internet.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
There are radio stations though that have shows that I do want to listen to, but don't have the time to tune in at the right time. It's really convenient that a community of people are recording them for people like me to listen to after the show. This just goes to show that the internet is a nice place.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's funny. Do you mean like drama hour shows on the radio? It's surprisingly still famous for some reason. I guess others like the acting of radio personalities. They're good at what they do.

Yes, it can be nice at times. I find that the internet in general is full of nice people. It's just the comments that makes people think otherwise. Lots of heated discussions in comment sections.

It doesn't help that trolls just escalate things to a point of ridiculousness.

I listen to a morning talk show here in the Philippines. Good Times with Mo on Magic 89.9. I like their discussions without holding back stuff for the sake of radio. Some radio DJs in the country are afraid of speaking out their minds because it might cause public backslash. Not this show. In fact it's been suspended a lot of times now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Oh, I've heard of that. It's one of those radio programs that garner lots of attention. I guess there are pros and cons with its straightforward approach. But that's what draws people like you to listen to them.

I have heard snippets of interviews and stuff. It's a fun radio show.

I do listen a lot on radio compare to podcast. The thing I like about the listening to radio is the variety of topics, songs, and a lot of general discussion compare to podcast that sometimes is just limited to one topic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I believe on you. Podcast has limited source of topics and sometimes it was so annoying. Unlike radio has non stop topics and music to listen to.

I do prefer podcasts over radio stations. With podcasts, you have the ability to choose what you listen to and in what niche (and most of the time, you can find podcasts some really amazing content) whereas with radio, you're at the mercy of what they're playing.

When it comes to music, I use Spotify for all my needs anyway, so there's no reason for me to listen to music on the radio as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I think radio is somewhat obsolete for modern people. While it's still useful and can provide general mainstream entertainment, it just isn't what it used to be. Why listen to radio stations when you can practically choose any music you want to listen to?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah that is true. Spotify is good but they have a adds also.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I don't really use Spotify. I mostly just listen to music on Youtube. We can also get copies of songs and save it on our mobile devices. So you can listen to it even if there's no internet connection.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
I did that also but sometimes there are some songs that has a last commercial in the end which it came when you downloaded the whole songs. Not good for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's funny! How did that happen? This is my first time hearing about someone downloading a commercial with the songs or videos.

Anyway, there are other ways to download online content. Try testing what works for you. It's helpful to have lots of backup sites in case some don't work.

Though, I prefer watching podcasts online instead of downloading them.

Podcast is what Ibdo not know? What is it? Anything to di with phones?

I still use the radio. It is good as it comes in handy.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Podcast is like a special dedicated stream of content for specific topics and people. Like how there are TV shows about sports and stuff, so do podcasts.

Think of it as someone talking on a mic as if it were a live radio show. Only instead of being on the radio, it's on the internet. Basically, it's someone discussing something that certain people find interesting.

There are lots of podcasts each with different content. Just search one on Youtube and you'll find many examples.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah some other radio stations are using their radio as a podcast like they recorded certain topics and from there they will post in their podcast account.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is up to you if you want to register in a podcast or not. Some podcast can listen without account but some does need. I prefer have an account so that you have exclusive access to the their website.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's right. I've seen podcasts that offer free content without having to subscribe. Though, there are premium offers that can only be accessed by paying for membership. It depends on the person if they want to pay for exclusive content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Thanks. Are those videos simply available content or actual episodes? Podcasts have regular new content. They're like a TV series that keeps producing new episodes for their viewers.

Also, you'll know if it's a podcast because that's what they call themselves. Like how TV shows call their series "TV Show." Podcasts classify themselves as "podcasts."

If they don't, then it's probably not a podcast.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Podcast is a digital audio file on the internet that you can download in your computer and mobile phones. It is a series of topics or sometimes one topic discussing per episode. You can choose a topic you want like health, lifestyle, politics, motivation, religions and more.

In my teenage years, I had a pocket-sized transistor radio that I took with me almost everywhere. I always made sure the batteries were working so I could listen to my favorite music. If I didn't have my transistor radio I would turn on the radio my mom used to have sitting on a bureau in the living room. When I get in the car to drive even though some of the cars I've driven had cassette tape players or CD players, I prefer to just turn on the radio. I know podcasts are popular. But I'm still old school. As for making my own podcasts? Clueless!! Do you like podcast over radio station?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is right. You used to it and no problem with that. Sometimes its quite annoying listening to podcast, kinda boring because people just talking and talking without sounds background unlike radio.

That's cool. I guess old school still has its charms. You can't beat nostalgia no matter how hard you try. There will always be a special feeling for those who've used it and fallen in love with classic radio.

I kind of miss the old programs back then. Times have really changed. Everything on the radio sounds so promiscuous and far from decent like the old days.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Also, certain cities that I have lived in had better radio stations than other cities. In my experience, the best radio stations were in Miami, Florida and Washington, D.C. They had the best classical music stations, the best jazz stations, the best popular music stations, and good news stations. My husband used to tape music off the radio stations in those cities. I've lived in Houston, El Paso and now Austin. The radio stations in these cities are not nearly as good.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's cool of you to share that. Definitely sounds like something people consider when choosing radio stations. Aside from that, the radio personalities certainly have a big role to play in making each broadcast. Aside from music, the people like how certain DJ's talk on the radio.

I enjoy listening to radio station more than podcast. I find it more entertaining to listen to music with disc jockeys exchanging opinions and stories after each song. There are times I got bored whenever I listen to podcast and would just result turning it off. While with radio stations, there are moments that you lose your interest with what's on but after just a snap it gets your interest back.

I never heard about podcast. I more like listening to radio station when I want to listen to music most especially when I'm in the car. Other thing that I liked in the radio is the afternoon drama which is very dramatic sometimes. It is overflowing of emotion which can be funny sometimes but most of the time you can be carried away.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I prefer to listen to the radio stations. I used to listen to the podcast but I did not really like it. Maybe, I just like the old way of listening to music and news. And listening to the radio is something that I got used to. The other thing is I have favorite DJs and radio stations and listening to them makes me feel great. I don't mind whatever song they want to play. In some stations, listeners can make a request for which song to play and I love it since I can make a request.

I don't want to compare podcast and radio because they serve different purposes. Our church releases weekly podcast of the pastors' preaching which I listen to occasionally. I also listen to the radio but not that often. In general, I'm just forced to listen to it in public places. I prefer using my laptop for entertainment these days. If I have to choose between podcast and radio, I will go for radio because it has more things to offer and I can also choose which station to listen to.

I like listening to podcasts since I can listen to it wherever I want to. Nowadays, podcast offers a lot of interest for different listeners. It gives new information that broadens our knowledge of the world. I can also listen to hot topics of today world which is really convenient compare to reading blogs or watching videos. Also, doing meager things like doing your laundry while listening to podcast making use of your time effectively.

I very much agree. I feel like podcasts can give you something good to think about. Instead of watching TV and doing other stuff, you can learn new things through their discussions. I enjoy the calm atmosphere they provide compared to loud blasts and commercials from radio stations.

I also hate the commercials from radio stations as it disrupts the talk sometime between guests during their shows specially during heated argument. I know its how the station generates income but unlike podcast, people can have discussions without being interrupted. It is also good to listen to podcast as some interesting program on the radio is only aired on certain time which is not an advantage for some people unlike listening to podcast at your own time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Me too. Podcasts also feel more professional. Radio stations nowadays have unpleasing personalities. Their radio DJ's can be foul-mouthed and mean-spirited. It feels like they're insulting the guests and the viewer's intelligence.

Hosts of podcasts are more polite and calm in speaking. They don't scream on the microphone randomly for no reason. And their conversation are very wise and enlightening for us listeners.

Well, technology is truly amazing sometimes. Podcast are always available when you are available. Unlike the radio, if you have a favorite show, you need to be in tune during their scheduled timing. I remember going to school and waiting for DJs on the radio for their talk show. I sometimes forget and miss out on my classmates talking about it. And yeah, the no commercial is a plus for me too.

You get to also choose what you hear, the topics and discussion would be according to your preference. So yey podcasts!

I know that the advantage of podcasts is that their aim is to instruct. For example I listen to podcasts about online marketing and starting a small business. No interruptions. If you are listening life you can also send in messages and questions. With radio it concentrates more on social discussions(which can educate) and music. Radio in my opinion is more about entertainment. Something you listen to, to keep you company or to relax you.

Podcast has many things to offers. These things could make a difference in peoples lives. One thing that I love Podcast is the Tedtalk. Many things I have learned about it and they have a really interesting topics everyday.

I've also found TED talks to be getting lots of attention these days. They're the more evolved form of seminars. Only instead of being boring, they're actually interesting and engaging.

You're right. Both have their advantages. Radio has always been something you turn and let it play throughout your day. Like while driving outside. You don't have to think about anything. Just go with the flow and sing whatever song's playing. Well, unless you don't like it and end up changing the radio station.

I've only learned about Podcasts this year. Turns out I'm missing out! I always listen to personal finance and investing podcasts. I would like to learn more about these subjects since I still consider myself a kid and I need to mature on many things, especially about handling and managing money.

I think they've been a thing for a while now. Definitely before Twitter became famous. But it's only been discovered by the masses once people uploaded them on the internet. Some podcasts used to be so close to radio stations.

Once I discovered podcasts, I replaced the radio with it. Whenever my family goes for a drive and if I don't have a good playlist of songs, I play some of my favorite podcasts.

That's nice. I imagine other people driving and listening to them as well. You just get a lot of value while listening to podcasts. You learn stuff that might prove useful sometime in the future.

I don't use a podcast, but I really love to listen to a radio a lot, especially when I am riding a van going to my work, it makes time travel shorter because you are being entertained on what you are listening.

I guess you're used to radio programs. I remember back when I was young. I used to tune in to different stations all the time. They were really fun. Especially, because of the funny hosts. But now it's just different. I find the radio hosts to be too loud and proud about pretty much anything.

If you are a lifelong learner then podcast siuts you. What podcast gives is value for your time. It is fun to learn using your downtime at work, while exercising and even while comuting for work. I think everybody should use podcast more often because of the value that it has given to our society.

I totally agree. Podcasts have become society's way of accessing knowledge through various individuals. It's like listening to a meeting between professionals of a certain field of knowledge. I also feel very relaxed while listening to their conversations.

I like listening to Podcast. however, if I were to choose between the two, I would still prefer listening to radio. In our country, the DJs are. so much fun to listen to. DJs from different stations have individually unique charm, there are DJs who are so funny and so are their stories, there are also DJs who share deep stories that people can relate to combined with the suited music to the ambience. I love listening to radio because even though there are a lot of foreign songs being played, I still feel like I am connected to the local people.

Both have their place. I have just learned this recently. I never used to understand the advantages and disadvantages of both. Radio is more for entertainment and to keep abreast of social issues. I always listen to radio in the afternoon to know the current social issues going on around me. Podcasts are more educational.I have started listening to them recently to learn more about social media marketing.

Yeah both has useful in different ways. People could able to choose which one should they prefer to listen according to their preferences. Radio has been known for long time ago and many people use this as a tool of information and entertainment while podcast just new and yet very educational and informative to a certain issue. Both is equal and important for people lives today.

Actually listening to the radio and also to podcasts has like becoming a leisurely activity for me these days. I listen to the radio only on weekends when I have free time, that too mainly to listen to some old day music or sometimes the local news. I think that radio news can be one of the better sources to know the news happening in and around your local area and town. I have not listened to any podcasts for a long time in order to form an opinion on them.

Yeah radio is not good in music but also in news too. I like listening to it when I am driving. There are so many radio stations to choose.

I don't particularly listen to radio podcasts, I often listen for music. Although I tune in every now and then when I happen to catch one. I would agree that there were really interesting topics and the inputs that you get there is somehow different and refreshing.

Yeah Podcast is not quite entertaining because it is more of talking and talking but they all talking with a sense and somehow motivate you and learn you something new. Most of the people listening in podcast are those who is living in Western countries. Radio is good too but we need to learn something new too.
