Content Generation Idea: Embrace Popular and Wacky Holidays!
Did you know that there are hundreds of different official holidays marked and celebrated all around the world? Even in the west we have many different types of holidays and these make for great opportunities to use them for coming up with some very creative and inspiring content ideas! You could increase exposure and awareness to your site by writing and talking about these special holidays and that could even help to increase sales as well. All you have to do is find something that people are likely to use or want on those holidays and sell them on your site. Or convince them into that if you already do!
There are many holidays you can tap into for content creation ideas. But here's some rules of thumb to follow when you do;
Try to keep content focused on the holiday spirit and the meaning behind that holiday.
Try to connect and relate holidays back to your websites products or services.
Try to cover local holiday events (if any) as well as national and/or internatinal holidays too.
Here are some popular holidays your site could cover;
- New Years Day (January 1)
- Valentine’s Day (February 14)
- Daylight Savings Time Starts (March 13)
- April Fool’s Day (April 1)
- Mother’s Day (Second Sunday in May)
- Father’s Day (Second to last Sunday in June)
- American Independence Day (July 4)
- Women’s Equality Day (August 26)
- Labor Day (First Monday in September)
- Halloween (October 31)
- Thanksgiving (Last Thursday in November)
Here are some wacky/fun holidays you can cover.
- Trivia Day (January 4)
- Send a Card to a Friend Day (February 7)
- Old Stuff Day (March 2)
- International Moment of Laughter Day (April 14)
- National Chicken Dance Day (May 14)
- World Environment Day (June 5)
- Embrace Your Geekiness Day (July 13)
- International Left-handers Day (August 13)
- National Good Neighbor Day (September 28)
- World Vegetarian Day (October 1)
- World Kindness Day (November 13)
- National Cookie Day (December 4)
If you need more, just Google fun and wacky holidays! You will find many of them. Some of them might seem very weird indeed. But the point is, some of them might be able to be tied to a product you already sell. Or, if you're an affiliate site/blog, you could add a new product that is somehow related to one of these products. Such as something for geeks on
Embrace Your Geekiness Day!
Do you use national / international holidays and wacky holidays for coming up with content ideas?
If so, what holidays do you like to write about and publish and why?
