Where do you find inspiration to write?

So most of the time I lack inspiration where to get my content. I don't want to write with the same content, as it will limit my ability to write. Most of the time I find inspiration with the movies and videos that I watch.

Some of my other favorite sources of inspiration, include:

- magazines and books
- television shows
- documentaries
- conversations with friends
- real life experiences
- topical/daily news
- viral debate topics
- freewriting/journaling
- Question/Answer sites
- Reddit/Quorra

Where do you get your inspiration to write contents for your articles, blog posts, forum posts, etc?

Literally everywhere. Sometimes I just go for a jog or a walk and I suddenly get inspired. I have learned that in order to be able to get inspired by the outter source you should always let your mind be "free" - if you constantly pressure yourself, "now I need to get inspired" and so on, it will not work.

My favorite things to get inspiration from are:
- other blogs,
- books,
- Reddit,
- forums,
- radio,
- the news.

As I sort of alluded to below in my comment, I am a lot like you, Tronia--I can get my inspiration from nearly everywhere as well. I always try to keep my mind open to new voices, ideas, and techniques of writing, and I like writers who knock me out of my comfort zone and put me into a different headspace. Sometimes, I am surprised as to where this inspiration comes from because it can literally hit me out of nowhere.

Listening and getting ideas from writers is one of my greatest inspiration. Especially you are in the same field with them, they can understand your sufferings and difficulties on where to find inspiration to create content. And I really love how present their ideas, you will really learn and get anything from people who have creative minds.

"Sometimes I just go for a jog or a walk and I suddenly get inspired."

This is all too relatable for me. Inspiration can strike like lightning for me, when I absolutely least expect it to. I can be doing something as simple as washing the dishes and suddenly I'll come across this profound idea that I instantly need to write down. This is why I both keep my phone on me as well as a pen and paper at all times. You never know when you're going to need to write something down.

And I certainly have to write it down, as I always end up forgetting a brilliant idea, and that can be so frustrating.

I'll agree with you. You don't have to pressure yourself, because it won't help.
You don't have to set a time when to write or not.
Do it when you are in a good mood to do so. There are times when you just find something that interests you to use it as a topic of your article. That's what I do, whenever there is a thought that comes into my mind, I write it and make an article about it. I am not good in writing but I use it as a practice. I don't want to miss any chance to write about something that I found interesting, I am afraid I will forget the ideas about the topic if I will to do it later.

I take inspiration to write from a lot of things. It could be a film or movie I've seen recently, a book I recently read, sometimes a song I am currently listening to, certain daily interactions with people, etc.

You reminded me of the daily interactions with people - that's an amazing source of inspiration for me. There have been countless times where I didn't expect to get inspired but then I just had a nice relaxing conversation with a friend or went outside for a coffee and boom, it was there. It's incredible.

I just love to write anything. I don't necessary need any inspiration to write as other often point it out its important because I am addicted to the way how I'm going to incorporate words to form beautiful sentences and phrase that's never been heard of. My passion is "writing" and that alone can give me
inspiration to be playful, fun and excited. if not exaggerated to write something new everyday.
It's when we enjoy what we write that we can inspire others to love it too. As we give life to the words and sentences, we deliver not just an article to read, an information to feed but most importantly, we share a piece of our masterpiece.

I agree with some of your opinions that having writing as a passion alone can give some inspiration. However, some writers will always go through "writer's block", wherein you can't find anything that gets you inspired to write. Even though it's a little different from what I'm trying to point out, it still has the same context of being motivated to write.

Finding the inspiration to write can be quite a difficult task especially for those that are not really mean when the matters of news and research are concerned. However, I have tried to get ideas about what to write from the following places which are:

News sites and forums
Watching movies that are educational

Group discussions

Blogs

And others sources I can't be able to recall now. One thing that is sure is that I've learnt so much as a writer in all endeavors of life.

This is a great question!
I must admit, I am inspired by quite a different number of things. I love to listen to indie rock, and the basic mood it puts me in can really get my writing juices flowing. I also really love to read from my own personal library, and I have hundreds of books in my office and bedroom stacked everywhere, on shelves, on tables, on the floor, you name it, so I read a lot of different genres and styles of writing. I also like reading online comics and blogs, and these can also get me going when I am in the middle of a terrible blight of writer's block.

I have so many sources of inspiration that even my job in the office is one source. Some of my colleagues are well-versed with technology up to the point of being branded as nerds. I think that you really demonstrate here that, if one remains open to the experience, inspiration can be found anywhere for our writing, even during the doldrums, at times, of our daily working jobs. I also draw inspiration for writing for people--I think mainly that I feed off of the energy of good conversation, and sometimes something someone else has said, or his or her unique perspective on things, sends me into a new zone of creative thought that I could not have gotten to by myself, or at least not as fast as when another person gives me a push towards a new idea.

I get inspiration from listening to music.

As writers, I believe we work best when we let ourselves have some free time. Like having a relaxing day off. Unwinding from all the stress of the week and life's daily struggles. What I do is listen to relaxing music. But anything can do. It's just that I tend to focus on mellow tunes whenever I'm resting my mind from the creative process.

But if you're after inspiration, epic scores like cinematic music can help you envision new scenes and spark new ideas. Just remember to take it easy whenever you're feeling stressed. You'll be at your best once you get enough rest.

I have not really go and seek for inspirations to write, as I always get the inspirations from my life. I always get the ideas from what I experienced, what I see, what I think, what I read. Reading online always gives me lots of inspirations, perhaps a quote, a piece of message, or just a picture, they always trigger me to think and hence I will have something to write about. As a stay-at-home to three kids, there are always many funny and also challenging moments going on in my home, parenting and kids' topics can never be ending, especially from different age developments, activities, what they think and what they say too. Sometimes I do get writing inspirations when I talk to people, mainly the moms in my neighborhood. I always think inspirations are everywhere, we just need to reach out and grasp them.

I get/find inspiration from my surroundings and the things that I do, that's how I get things I develop my art, waiting for inspiration will leave you with a blank not forever according to a well known author. Inspirations don't come but rather you find it by yourself, for inspiration are the things we find appealing to our senses.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Agree with that. The inspiration for writing is just around you, all you have to do is to find the connection between them. We have to look carefully and appreciate the things to get inspired. But the problem sometimes, the more you eager to find your inspiration, the more you can't find them.

Honestly, often times it is just completely random. I could be watching some sort of show on the television, and someone just happens to mention something that sends my thoughts spiraling. In that instance, I've found something to write about. Other times when I intentionally go out looking for inspiration, one of the best places to do so is from YouTube videos, specifically Ted Talks. I look up a lecture on something I'm relatively interested in, and by the time it's over I've already wrote down several new ideas for content to write about.

Get inspiration from whatever your heart desires. It could be yourself, your family, friends or loved ones. Take a stroll at the beach, inhale that salty windy breeze. Be delighted by that beautiful sunset, let your imagination flow. And at that point your brain will start up, neurons fire up and run your imagination wild. Or maybe try to go out, look at people and just think whatever you want to. You could also look back at a history of something, every reason has it's cause. That cause is something special. There's tons of ways to find inspiration and I wish you the best of luck Where do you find inspiration to write?

My inspiration to write came from three things which are real life experiences, nature and music. These three variables made me start off with poems before going into novels and books as well. It was from one of my poems a member saw online that he sought to introduce me into posting on forums and blogs which I have come to enjoy doing as well.

The experience and knowledge I have gathered so far posting in several forums and seeing other people's work have been priceless to my very existence and I will still strive to improve for the better.

Creating a piece of writing without having something to influence such work is down to one's creative mind and thinking. This is what allows you to think out new ideas which you can now develop into a full blown topic that would appeal the readers of such work. I have written some good works from my creative thinking and still making notes on new topics which I still want to develop for future references.

I think one of the best things you can do is to keep a notebook (an actual paper one!) that you use to jot down small phrases and ideas as they come to you. It sounds cliche, but inspiration really does hit at the strangest times, and if you don't write that thought down then you might lose it. I used to feel like I struggled for inspiration, but when I started keeping a notebook I was able to cultivate small ideas, and make connections between those ideas that I never would have thought of otherwise. It also kept those thoughts fresher in my mind as I could re-read them.

For me I mostly get my inspiration from conversations and experiences that I have in life, but it is all very minor thoughts that I gather and link together with other small thoughts until a larger idea forms.

When I'm not inspired to write, I do not insist! I stop what I'm doing and start doing something else that has nothing to do with writing. This helps me not to get stressed. When you forget what you want, your mind becomes lighter to receive new things. But the thing that really helps me most is going to play piano and to sing. It calms me and renews my energy! Sometimes, lack of inspiration means your energy isn't that strong. So, it's necessary to renew it so you can have new inspirations!

I get inspired by listening to classical or instrumental music. As a writer, it is hard for me to have an inspiration. But whenever my creative juices ran out, I listen to these songs to refuel them. Writing novels or an article can't be done in just one seat. It takes hours or probably even days before you finish it. I make it sure that I have inspirations so that my writing momentum won't last ahead of time. But sometimes, there are no inspiration coming out. What I love to do is I read books, I watch movies on Youtube. I watch film and when the moment I got an inspiration, I suddenly pause it for a while and go back to writing instead.

I am basically motivated to write based on my personal experiences especially about frustrations and bad experiences. I had wrote a lot of poems and lyrics from my past experiences before which I think had helped me enhance my ability to write and appreciate more writing. Although I really need more practice and I should also research and improve the words I should used to deepen my vocabulary words also, at least now I have learned to appreciate more this kind of hobby and skills because from the past years(Grade school to high school) I really don't like writing and reading and I don't really know why.
I am more inspired to write when I am upset and when I am emotionally hurt maybe because this way I can express my thoughts and feelings. Not only writing but also composing a tune that is also depressing. At first I expressed my feelings through drawings which is really my special skills. I do have notebooks before that has full of drawings. I draw not because I am depress or what, It is just that drawing is my hobby but now I do both writing and drawing, oh and composing also.

The biggest thing for me when it comes to finding inspiration is letting my brain just be free and relax. Usually that means getting out into nature, going for a hike, riding my bike somewhere - just letting my brain zone out and focus on something else for a bit! Also, there's just so much beauty in nature that I find it's pretty motivating for ideas as well.

Great tips on where to find inspiration. When I was still relatively new to writing I used to get all my stuff from other articles. I used to find these articles really hard to write. The more I learned the more I realized that the easiest and most productive was to get inspiration from real life situations. This is the best way to write articles, especially for me. This also ensures that your writing is original, this is better then using another article because the probability of plagiarism rises significantly. However where your inspiration comes from depends on the article you are writing. A technical article may demand you use books.

Without a background of what is happening you would have a problem coming up with ideas.

When it feels like I’ve run out of things to write about I’ll try to use the following strategies to find new story ideas or material for new articles:

1. I’ll visit blogs that interest me and read the comments. There is always something which the writer doesn’t cover that someone else will mention in the comments section.

2. Old magazines. There are lots of them on the net if you can find them. There is always something interesting in them that you can use.

3. Movies and tv shows. Think of stories within stories. The untold backstories of those minor characters could be interesting. Everyone has their story to tell after all. Let your imagination run wild.

My best source of inspiration is my everyday life. The people and the places that I interact with (and in) on a daily basis. It is hard to find something else more accessible than these sources I see every single day of my boring, mundane, and uneventful life. Other sources are media like everybody's mentioned in this thread, but there is nothing more genuine than what a writer experiences firsthand.

My inspiration in all things for me as of now is my family. I know they are always there for me whatever happens. When the times bring me down they are my cure. Watching them happy enlightened my mind, reflenished my soul and inspires me to dobthe things in need to do.
