Do writers ever respond to messages sent to them?

Do writers ever respond to messages sent to them?

I've sent messages to several content writers using the "contact" button next to their profile images and after waiting patiently for 3 days, nothing.

Is something wrong or am I simply being ignored?

If I'm being ignored, why? Don't they want work?

This is the issue with those that wants to run a website, but are unable to keep a good contact with those that are on the site. As a site owner and even a writer, being able to check your inbox and mail messages and trying to respond to them is one of the way that you are going to make everything work pretty fine for you at the end of the day.

i think writers write back if they are interested or sincere in their job. Its a choice to be made. They can do it if they could give time to it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I honestly think that it depends on who the individual is and their manner of handling readers. There are those who easy open their arms to fans and are quick to clarify any questions popped at any time. It does not matter how busy they might be but they find time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, others naturally have time for responding to others. It's unlike people who are very busy with their work. But I also believe that if they want to, they can make time just to give a quick response.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
But they really ought to. I mean we live ina world where there are VAs, personal secretaries, personal organizers etc.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's funny you pointed that out. This is why many people don't accept reasons. Because for every excuse there's always a possible solution. The secret is to actually make time for the solution to find its way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
You got the point. Only interested people will respond to a message. I think they prefer to ignore the message than to respond and reject them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Precisely. Well we have nothing to do about it. It is all about their choice if they want to answer it or not. Busy is the main reasons that is why not answering all the questions they have received.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
That is right. There is a possibility that they are getting a lot of messages aside from this. And if you receive a lot then you are more likely to respond to the messages you are interested in. And it is understandable if you do not receive a response.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah its all about the writer if he really interested also to the asked questions. Normally some questions is redundant and if he sees same questions everyday I think he might not interested to answer it again because he used to answer it before but the thing is in different person.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
The sad thing is that the person who sent the message may not know. They're wondering if they're being ignored. So it's hard for the sender to not get a response within the expected time. This is why a quick reply to say that you're busy is much better than nothing at all.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yeah I agree with you on that. No reply from the questions you asked might the sender disappoint and piss to the writer. Yeah at least the writer respond something like ''I am busy'' the sender would really appreciate it for sure because he feels that he was valued.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I feel like we can all relate to that. We've been this person at some point. You're expecting a reply from someone who's important to you but they don't reply soon enough.

So your mind tries to understand why it's taking them so long. That's why such a simple message of acknowledgement will help to keep our minds at ease.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Or maybe the sender was thinking if their questions are nonsense. Others might think their are not valued and ignored by the writer. Writer should have consideration to the people who asked questions because at the end of the day these people are their customers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That would have been sad. Imagine someone disregarding your message because they don't care for it.

Writers have a responsibility to do their best in communicating with their target audience.

Even short but meaningful replies go a long way towards returning the good faith people have in you as a content creator.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Yeeah so true there are so many who do this. Others even have their messages being filtered so as to only allow those which are fit according to their judgement getting responses.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I feel like filtered messages easily get ignored. It's similar to the spam filter. You won't see them unless you check the specific folder. I understand why others would rather check messages individually just to be sure.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's a harsh reality. We're all guilty of this at some point. If the message is important to us, we immediately read it and respond. But if it's not, we sometimes even delete them before reading. It's mostly the case for text messages and emails.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
Oooh. I get this too. Being selective on the answers that you prefer to give and ignoring the people who ask questions that you would rather not answer.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You have a point. As much as we want to give a reasonable excuse, it's not really the case. It's up to us to make sure that we can respond promptly whenever someone sends us a message. Apologies aren't meant to substitute consistent effort.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
A simple respond means a lot to the sender so we should also consider the feelings of them. We all busy but at least we should make time for them because of the readers the writers earned money. Ignoring them is one thing that we should never ever do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's something that happens a lot for writers with thousand of fans and readers. They can't possibly respond to all of them. But they can still find ways to address them all.

Like how some writers will make a post specifically to thank their fans for all the support they've received.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
For me, being responded to as a reader is a big thing. It shows how I am valued as a reader. I understand it may take a while, but the response should still be given by the writer. I agree that this is one of the main issues of those people running a website. They can't keep on track all of the messages coming in, resulting that some people lose interest to them. Better to pay attention to keep your readers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I guess it's understandable if they get like a thousand or more messages. But if there are only less than 20, then it's not so hard. So you can really see how much effort the writer gives in making it work. Scheduling stuff is the first step to making replies.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
So true and besides writers manage their time very well so that they have time for their readers. They knew it from the start that there would be a reader that might ask question so from that very beginning the writer make time for them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
And other writers eventually get to hire personnel that manages the messages they received. That way, even if it's not the author himself, the people will receive replies to their emails. This is mostly the case for professionals in top positions.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Yes definitely the reader would love that writer more if he receives a respond from his questions but things like that as always. People has different attitudes and opinions. The writers should give time to answer questions, it is his responsibility at all.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, it's kind of hard. People often forget to check regularly and will miss messages. By the time they reply, the person might already have moved on. So it's important to check back frequently.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
If it has been three days and you are still not getting any response, then your messages were ignored. Writers are receiving notification if someone sends them a message. So even if they don't check their emails, writers will be informed about your messages through alerts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's hilarious. I can totally imagine someone getting notified and ignoring it even then. So there's virtually no excuse to not responding. It's really a matter of choice and priority. So if someone doesn't reply, then it's likely they don't feel you're worth their time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
That is the truth. If I am the one who receives a message then I will definitely respond to it. But not all the people will take their time to respond to the emails they receive. You are right that it is a matter of choice and priority. Maybe if you don't receive a response, your email does not matter to the receiver.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's the sad truth. We really should embrace the harsh realities of the world we live in. And this can happen even when the writer doesn't mean to. Like during days where they go out and detox from everything in their life.

Sometimes they're just so busy that they forget to read emails. But at the end of the day, what will happen is up to them. I know some people who make it a virtue of reading and replying to important emails. No questions asked.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

cmoneyspinner
It's too many writers out there for you to concern with the ones who don't respond. There are writers out there who want to work! Just scratch the ones off your list that don't respond and move one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
That's a good point - in this day and age there are so many high quality freelance writers out there. If you need immediacy and urgency it's best to choose someone who responds quickly, and if you're not getting that from whoever you're contacting, it's easy enough to move onto someone else.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. There are so many freelancers or writers out there who are serious with their work. You should choose someone who can reply immediately showing that they really are persistent with what they want to achieve. You should not stay with someone who can't give you attention right? Just choose someone who can give you answers fast because that means they are really working hard for their business.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is very basic. If the writer ignores your questions,so be it, move on and try to ask other writers again. Maybe the next writer you asked might answer you back this time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I like how you put it. You're right. We shouldn't stress ourselves with people who don't respond. After all, there will be others out there. So let's just move on and find those will value our time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
Very well said. I believe that if others don't respond then someone will do. Just focus on people who take their time to respond to your emails. Remember that someone who responds quickly may have a lot of time to talk to you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
There are some writers who really answer what you ask to them, but most of the time they don't answer because maybe they are busy writing kinds of stuff.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
That is right. Not all the writers here are working from home. Some of them are working in a corporate world. There is a possibility that they check this site or emails once or twice a week. And if they are a getting a bunch of emails everyday, they won't be able to respond to all the emails.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
You have a point. It will also depend on the type of message you send their way. If you are completely asking irrelevant questions or ones that have obvious answers simply by using Google, you'll probably be ignored.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
Well I haven't receive any messages from clients so far. If and when I receive one, I would surely answer it in the soonest possible time. When money is knocking at the door a good writer always answers.

If you need a writer then do email me at [email protected].

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
If you take your online business very seriously, then you must have ample time to respond to all your messages as soon as possible because no clients appreciates being kept waiting for too long. If that happens, they will definitely look at elsewhere for the services they were seeking to aquire.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

coolavender
Are they currently active on the site? if I am a writer looking for projects, I'll definitely reply and say yes or no. I will not ignore a message from a potential client. There are many excellent content writers here and I'm sure that you can find one that will fit your requirements. The best way to hire one is to create a job. You can check the options under the 'Buyer' menu.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
Am in the same predicament. I wrote to several of them without any replies. I think they just ignore and that is in a bad taste. They should rise up to the task.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
Sometimes I think they don't even get to receive them. That's the problem with physical mail. It doesn't tell you if the author has received it or has opened it and just ignored it in a way. I just hope not all authors are like this.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
The fact is that communication is complete only when you get a response. If the response is not there then that is brokrn communication. We cannot be fpr sure whether the writers received the communication or not. However at present we use email. The email may go in spam or get lost in many other emails. Yet when they do not answer we hold them responsible

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
That's also true. Though I would imagine those writers don't want to be bombarded by fan mails everyday or have people wait them out of their houses' doors. It just sucks when you really want to show a writer that they blew your mind away and you can't express that feeling to them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
There are some writers who do not respond with their messages, I guess it is because they are quite busy at the moment. But if time went by and they still don't respond, then maybe they really are ignoring your messages. You should pay more attention to those writers who can respond to your messages, they are good writers who really value their readers and responds to them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Corzhens
Maybe they are just busy or have not noticed the notification alert. I sometimes happen to open my inbox to see the message as old as 2 days or maybe older simply because I forget. As a courtesy, I always try to reply to the messages I get in forums because it is a connection to people. It is not right to ignore people because that may come back to you and it is painful to be ignored.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I do think that can happen, sometimes I've been slow to respond to inbox messages because I had lots of other alerts showing up that were replies to forum posts I'd made. So that could be a possibility. I always endeavor to reply though, even if it's later than I would like. Ghosting people isn't cool!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think it's probably an individual case-by-case basis. Sometimes I've been slow with responding to messages if I've had other things that have been pressing my time - and quite a lot of freelancers work on multiple platforms so it's hard to know if they're checking their messages on here every single day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anchoreztin
It is a case to case basis. It depends on the availability of the writer and also your purpose to write. I am a positive thinker and I don't focus on the things that does not happen. If your concern is really important and you can reach out to other writers for that concern, then write to other writers instead while waiting for replies. Also one piece of advice is if we have things we do not have full control, just let it go and then focus on the things we have control. If in case you did nothing wrong and you are being ignored, then it is not your fault.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

romyter013
That's my answer too. Possible here they busy with some stuff that they need to finished first like their articles need to submit and they only have the right time after to answer once they accomplished everything for the day. You just need more patience, be positive, of course they will answer your messages and you just have to believe and they will.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mitan143
There are plenty of possible causes for that. First, maybe the writer has a busy schedule and couldn't check his messages or emails anymore. Second, maybe he has already so much clients to be handled and couldn't entertain another one. Third, if he is still available for job maybe he just forget about that feature in the website. Lastly, maybe yes he doesn't care at all because he's not interested at all. BUT, he should at least let you know whether he will accept the job or not so you won't be waiting for a response for too long.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Yes, common courtesy would definitely be to respond if you've seen the message and say that you're not currently able to take on any more clients - just so the person knows! It can be a lot easier than leaving someone hanging, waiting for a reply that may never come.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaymish3
They are many reasons why this would happen. They may not be checking their messages. Some people check their messages like once a week or something ridiculous like that. It maybe that they are not active on the platform anymore but have not taken down their profile. This is a way to judge who is serious or not. Unfortunately writers use many platforms and with time you tend to ignore those platforms where you don't get enough work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
It depends to the questions you asked I guest. If your question seems interesting to them of course they might answer you back but if your questions are just a questions without sense it is up to them if they are going to ignore you. Writers are busy person. They have some deadlines that needs to meet and some personal things as well. For some they value your questions and quick to respond.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

edencaga
I think it depends to the writer as sometimes they prefer more to work and focus on their writing than replying your messages but If the writer really cares about folks who intended to send a messages to them, I think they will reply as they don't want to offend some.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

romyter013
I know someone like that too. They will reply to you as soon as they finished what they have started first before they respond. I guess its how they express theirselves on how they want to finished the article with nothing to think of or worry any. And once they are done with it, that's the time they have right enough time to send replies with their important messages or emails.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

edencaga
Yeah! sometimes folks must understand them as sometimes they don't have time to reply as they have a lot of works to do for their clients. Sometimes their work is overloading so they need to meet the deadlines in order to have a good reputation on their work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
I agree with you. Some writers' main goal or primary task is to write and spend their time on work writing and not replying.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mdayrit
Writers respond to messages but I think most of them just choose which messages to respond to. There can be a lot of reasons but here are 2 that I can think of besides obviously ignoring your message.

1. They are not active in that site so they weren't able to read your messages.
2. They are too busy to answer back to every single messages that they receive. They only choose ones that they think are urgent or projects that they can work with.

Just like what others said in this forum, there are plenty of content writers that you can choose from. If they ignore your message, it's their loss. You can just move on to the next writer on the list.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jeane
There could be many reasons why writers may be unable to respond to messages sent to them. Assuming that spammers also send them messages, a writer could ignore messages sent by people they don't know if they believe that maybe the person trying to contact them is a spammer or scammer.

Another reason could be an email sent to them lands in the trash folder. So though they may have responded to your message if they saw it, they don't see it and so do not respond.

That said, I believe that most writers will respond to messages sent to them as long as the messages are not too many.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

EfficientNinja
Maybe the ones you've contacted are inactive or currently have their hands full with other work or gigs. Others may not want to do the job you've offered them and chose to ignore your message instead of politely replying their reason for not accepting your offer.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
It could be that the writers you contacted are inactive. Before contacting someone, you should check when they last logged in. If it says that they logged in like 200 days ago, odds are that they aren’t going to be coming back.

The sad truth is that a lot of users here have gone inactive, and I’m assuming it’s either due to a lack of work or they just lost interest in the field. I doubt that anyone here would deliberately ignore you, since a lot of us here are looking for any work we can get.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Not really everyone, maybe because the message that we sent didn't notify them or the other messages have comes first and they didn't saw our message anymore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Gilgamesh
The probability that you are being ignored is high because surely it will pop-up into the writer that you are addressing into. That's why surely there is nothing wrong into the system it depends upon the writer.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
I agree if the message was sent then the writer would see it in his dashboard. Unless it doesn't reflect in messages but instead was reflected in notifications which most writers like me don't really read.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jetselle
There are a few writers who don't react with their messages, I get it is on account of they are very occupied right now. Be that as it may, if time passed by regardless they don't react, at that point perhaps they truly are overlooking your messages. You should give careful consideration to those writers who can react to your messages, they are great authors who truly esteem their perusers and reacts to them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I'm sure they do. However, the ones who reply almost instantly to your messages might be a virtual assistant. Majority of writers are eccentric (the brilliant ones), and most of the time avoid conversations at all cost if they have nothing to learn with the other party.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
I do believe so. These kinds of letters are called fan mail. I watched a documentary of Manga artists in Japan. The editorial department is the one that receives these letters for them. They'd give it to them after submitting the weekly publication and it inspires them to work hard on their manuscripts. It keeps them going.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Not really, maybe they are too busy on something thats why they don't reply to some of my messages or comments, but I used to read forum post every time and it really helps me to understand things.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
I would like for you you to make this clear for me. Do you mean your fellow writers or the site owner?

If it's your fellow writer, then he or she might just be ignoring your message, so I think you shouldn't worry yourself too much about it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jayjaydimson
Not all writers response to my message, maybe they are too busy writing stuff and they didn't realize that they have a lot of messages, and also they don't entertain that much because some writers tend to be silent.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
It's true what you just mentioned about some writers being too busy to respond to messages that they received from other members or even site administrators. Personally, I have received several messages from some site owners although it's not for any wrong doing.

There are some site that actually makes it hard and stressful for some members to attend to all messages especially when they are mixed with other notifications. Believe my when you come and see 200 message notifications, you won't have the zeal to read them all.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
Yes, I agree with the others. Sometimes, writers don't have the luxury of time to reply to messages. Some might have set plans or schedules beforehand so they could write their own content on a specific timeframe. Perhaps, what you have sent on that day could have beena added to the long list of messages awaiting to be read and be replied.

By the way, I'm curious, did you already get a reply?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
I definitely agree that some writers don't really have the time to reply to messages especially if they still have pending jobs to finish. I, myself is one of them whenever I'm too busy. i don't check my notifications anymore whenever I open my laptop. I just go directly straight to what I have to do because for me, time is Gold.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Maybe they are not active at all or the email they put there is inactive. Sometimes the reason is that the site is not active anymore. But that was really the problem a lot of us facing when we need writer to do work for us. Try other sites that have legit writers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jpk0007
Well, I don't think there is any reason to speculate whether they are ignoring you or not I think you should wait for a couple of more days to read your message and respond back to you. maybe some of them are genuinely busy and may not have found time to read your message and respond to you. even if they are really not interested in reading your message and are ignoring it you always have an option to consult other deserving writers who at least have the etiquette to answer their messages.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You have a point. At times, we have I be considerate especially if the site as you can see is busy.

Try to write them again, there are many reasons. Maybe they don't get your email or they're preoccupied. There is nothing wrong in trying it again. I got emails too and sometimes forgot to leave a response, but it does not mean I ignore it, It is just that I have many things to be done first and made me forget to answer some emails.

I've tried contacting a few writers from blogs website. A majority of them didn't respond to my message. It's either they didn't get my message, they are too busy or they just ignore it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Not really, because I think the writers are busy doing their stuff that they don't even have time to reply to any messages.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Some writers tend to forget to check their messages when they've got too much work. It doesn't necessarily mean that you are at fault. But there are a lot of other writers that would like work if you would contact them. Or if you are not having much luck you could try posting in another flatform. But for more assured work, try to get referrals of good writers.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I generally reply to messages, but it depends on the content as some maybe spam messages. Also as I use a contact form, sometimes messages get left in a spam box or get forwarded and if someone hasn't put a good header (or none) then it can slip through as a message that looks blank.

I think the best way is sometimes to message on social media rather then a contact form because some sites are archived for information only. I have active sites that are dormant and I rarely check them.

It depends of the writer moods or offline only in the past few days thats why they didnt repky to your response, but if they regularly online, i dont believe in writers say if they not checking their emals .Atleast the writer need to respond, in any mood they have, because the readers they are source of writers being sucessful in writing.

Sometimes not responding is a response. However, communication is essential and I have never failed to respond to anyone. Sometimes, it is not about work but seeking advice, and it is good to respond.

Since I feel so bad when I have sent a message(s) to someone, and he or she does not respond but have read, I do respond to everyone because I know how it feels.

Depends on the writer I guess. I think that there some writers who loves to reply on the messages they received from their fans. Manga writers in japan are known to be appreciative of their fans and are mostly responding to the opinion to their fans by responding to what they want. Hiro Mashima, a manga writer in Japan was requested to draw the children of couples in his work Fairy Tail that has a loose ending and he did draw the character for them and even gave them names.
