Data entry seems like a fun job you could do online in your spare time, maybe a good work at home opportunity for a new mom or senior or college student - anyone with a little time on their hands.
What type of qualifications would a good data entry specialist need and what are the typical jobs they would do?

But data entry jobs can be quite tedious and boring and invariably is not a really high paid job. Since the work is so easy and really just involves you looking at some sheet of paper or even copy/pasting something from one tab into another. That's cool in a way if you don't mind doing that and you can relax while doing it and listen to some music or watch some TV at the same time or something. And it could be good if you could work out how much you could earn from doing it and that was a nice amount after all the hours you put in doing it.
But data entry jobs do get very repetitive and as such, can get quite boring after a while and leave you looking for other types of work to. They're also usually very time consuming as well since there is sometimes so much entering to do and it can leave you thinking whether or not it's worth continuing doing or looking for some other type of work instead.
I remember a little while back I was offered work entering captchas in some crappy software. They would show up and I would have to enter them for the people that had paid for captcha solving. I think it worked out that I was paid around $0.01 per every 3-5 captchas that I successfully entered. And they didn't stop coming, I was sitting there doing it thinking, surely people don't do this do they? After about 20 minutes of this my fingers were tired and I'd grown very bored of entering these boring text and number captchas into this box and told the guy thanks but no thanks!
That all said, that was for a low paying captcha solving job. But if this is something you're looking into. If you can stand the boringness of it and are happy with the pay rate then power to you if you do. But sometimes you can bag a good paying data entry job. There are always companies and businesses around that need that kind of thing doing and need it fairly quick so pay quite generously for it. There are some data entry services on SC. Hopefully see some on here as well in the future too.
