As a freelancer, I would suggest visiting upwork and guru.com websites. For guru.com, you just need to create an account and you will be able to submit proposals. Upwork is different since after creating the account, your profile needs to be approved before you can submit a job proposal. And if your profile was not approved, you can edit or improve your profile and resubmit the application. They will also give you some guidelines on how to pass the application process.
Aside from Data Entry jobs, these platforms are good for Marketing Sales, Social Media, Graphics and Multimedia etc. Be careful with other websites that have a lot of scammers. These mean guys will improve their strategy to find a victim but they have the same goals. But as long as you will be careful, you should never worry about getting scammed as a freelancer.

Thanks for the tips about the scammers. I'm just waiting for my time to become a freelancer also. I heard so many details about the upwork, but don't have any idea about the guru, I think I'm gonna check it out. thanks for this info.

This helps. I was also looking for legit sites. I don't wanted to scammed. I will definitely visit the sites you mentioned and try to apply for jobs.

I love data entry that's why I'm looking for a freelancer job. I tried applying to upwork but they don't approve me. do you know other data entry website?

I feel you, my application was not approved by Upwork too. That is why I just applied at onlinejobs.ph. But this platform is only for Filipinos. You can try freee up and hubstaff. As far as I know, for freee up your profile has to be approved too. And there is also an interview. But once you passed these process, you can start to submit your proposal to a lot of jobs that they offer.

I got declined with upwork also. I think data entry application is a stiff competition since there's quite a number of applicants aspiring for this job. Building up your profile will be difficult for someone who doesn't have any experience as compared to those who are experienced and have a good track that give them leverage.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are right. It is really hard to get their approval. If you don't have any experience then the chance is low. That is why I tried another platform so I can gain experiences and use this to build a stronger profile.

I agree with you. It's not easy to apply at Upwork. They have strict standard qualification for applicants. Plus, it's best to have skills to compete among competitors. It's more advantage, if you are web and graphics designer.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is right! It is really hard to be accepted at Upwork. But you know what? They say that when Upwork just started, it was easy to pass their application. They were not really that strict but now that they have millions of freelancers all over the world, They only select the best applicants.

The difficulty for job online is increasing considering the growing numbers of job seekers. We need to compete just for one position. Skills and perseverance is always a must. It's a great factor to consider. i also heard of that Upwork is no longer accepting applicants. Too bad, It's too late to know.

I don't have any idea what data entry job is. But just by merely looking at the title of the job I think I have an idea about this. i think this job is entering data in the computer. I think there are already data gathered beforehand. Then those gathered information will just be entered into a folder in the computer.

I have also learned from a blog in YouTube about this. I have no experience whatsoever about this job. I believe you just search this out for yourself in Google search engine. Google will give you what you need.

Upwork and Guru.com are my two favorite ones but you have to ensure that you have a very good profile before submitting your application as it's the only way you will have the account to be approved within the shortest possible time. There are other data entry sites but Upwork and Guru.com are the ones that I will recommend.

Good luck mate.

I appreciate for the suggestions of upwork, but it seems that they have got a whole lot of freelancers that are currently working on them which means that it is going to be pretty difficult for me to get easy access to start out there.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Those are really legit sites. It's just hard to create a good profile or proposal for somebody who's inexperienced. I was asked to improve my proposal but there's nothing more I can add to it that's fit for the job. But definitely, I will be going back to Upwork once I gained the experience or track record I need. Data entry is one of the most sought for jobs so I might consider other options.

I agree with you. It is really hard to get their approval for your profile. I already followed their guidelines but my application still got rejected. I just tried other platforms to get a job.

I have heard that nowadays, Upworks has so many scammers that are pretending to be clients. I find it unfair that many freelancing sites are so strict on accepting applicants but not on employeers. I am not specific what sites but I have been in so many sites that are plagued by scammers. I hope that job seekers will be keen and careful at the same time.

Upwork is the only site I have ever used and I know you can land real data entry jobs. Guru is a no-go zone for me.

I'm also looking for this kind of job online, since I once become data encoder, an offline job, I think I have a little advantage. But when I register to upwork and tried to apply, the $3 job has so many applicants and I think it's really hard to see my proposal. Hope to find data entry sites also.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The competition that is accompanied to most of those type of projects is something that one should really be mindful of when we are looking at getting a stable income as data entry freelancers. I have noticed that there are a whole lot of people that are looking at getting better doing this kind of job as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

aeon
Yeah, that's right, so I decided to learn some new skills which are also in demand in a freelance career. There are so many opportunities online better not to stick in one career.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
That is right. Learning new skills will give you a higher chance of getting a job. In a freelancing world where the competition is tight, you will have to be versatile in order to get clients. If you can do a lot of things then clients are more likely to check your profile and invite you for an interview.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Chinet23
It's the number of job applicants that make the application difficult. Even Upwork themselves stated the same reason. Maybe because it's most people can acquire this skill as compared to other jobs which really require specialization.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

aeon
Yeah, that's right, you have to become more competitive and makes your background really looks interesting for clients. Lack of credentials needed in an online job looks really unfair for those who already have a lot of experience, however, it's alright because they give a chance for those talented individuals who still looking for their first job.

Aside from upwork and guru.com, hubstaff and freee up are also in line. These are legit freelancing platforms. Like upwork and guru, they have bunch of list of clients where we can send our proposals. They also send a job notification to the applicant's email address.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have heard of free up, but I have not really made use of it when it comes to making money via freelancing. Have you used it and what is the pay like when we are talking about doing data entry works on it?

UpWork will work with you perfectly. A sure site that is no a scammer. Safe and they really pay for what you sell with them with your skills.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don't think so that Upwork ate free from scammers because I have friends who are almost scammed by some clients there. We should always be careful and observants of clients, not just in upwork but in all freelance site.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
You are right. Even the well-known websites have scammers. Freelancers have to be careful! It is really hard for these platforms to filter their clients but once you encountered a scammer, you better report this to the platform because they will surely provide an assistance by removing the clients from their platform just like what I encountered at guru.com.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I always report suspicious clients and scammers. After much investigation and observing, I always try to notify the site from suspicious clients. I feel that it is my social responsibility to report them so that I can contribute in making the site a little bit safer. We are working really hard to provide quality outputs to our clients not just to be scammed. I am sorry to hear that you have been scammed. I know the feeling too. Let us be more careful everytime.

When I was new in my first job, I was thought how to do data entry. During that time, there was no internet yet and what we were using was the data entry machine a.k.a. keypunch machine. Data entry is just typing. And since I know how to type then it was easy for me to do data entry. However, with the data entry work in the internet, I am not comfortable so I haven't tried it yet. One writer friend told me about the scams that you will not be paid after doing heavy work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My fear has always be about the non payment that is always going to accompany doing all those works after you must have suffered doing them. If the owners of some freelancing sites should do something on that and ensure that those that can't be able to make things work on this type of situation should not be allowed to make things happen for them.

There's to much competition in upwork, freelancer, mturk and other old working sites nowadays that sometimes it's really not worth it to waste time on it. Try a year old site called FREeeUP, I heard that it's easier to get jobs there.

There are lots of freelancing sites out there and I believe the most reliable and trusted is Upwork. I also have an account there and there are lots of data entry jobs posted every week so better check it out. A friend of mine suggested another website that is somehow the same with upwork and I haven't registered yet because I don't want to have too many accounts that would take up a lot of my time, the name of the website is FreeUp. I think Upwork and other data entry jobs I have right now can suffice.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The competition in Upwork is something that I have always felt that I am not really focused on taking up at the moment. When you look at how everything is programmed in the site, you'll notice that lots of people come on it often to seek for some freelancing works and taking time to be a part of it has never and will never be that easy as people are making it to look like as well.

I suggest you try Upwork and Freelancer. Just sign up and wait for your account to be confirmed. I'm not discouraging those who want to try it but it's not easy to find a client. You can propose on many projects but there is still a chance that you wont be selected because there are lot of freelancers whom you can consider as your rival on that certain projects but don't give up. Just be aware that there are a lot of scammers their who will hire you and ask for fee for you to get started. Just reject that offer because their is a big chance that they are groups of scammer. I already experienced that and I did just ignored them.

Yeah you are right. There are a lot of competitors and rivals in upwork or in freelancer but yes we must not give up. Scammers are everywhere so we should be very careful in choosing a client also but sometimes we can't avoid those scammers who sometimes pretending to be a good client but at the end betray and will scam you. Anyway, thank you for those great tips. I hope everyone is aware of scammers.

Thanks for the way that you took out to explain the ones that may be fake as well as the reason that I should try my luck on up work. The first data entry job that I have tried is QA world, they accept transcribers internationally. Their pay is 0.20 cents per audio minute but your rating should be 3-5 if your rating is rated below 3, you will not be paid for the work that you have done. The application process starts with the test if you pass the test they will email you and tell you the next steps. It's a great company to work with, you just need to read the FAQs from time to time to make sure you adhere to their conversation style. I have been with them for almost 2 months now but the hard part is that when you work with long files and it will be rated 3 below, you will not be paid for it. It could be very disappointing because you have worked for it for a few hours and little punctuation mistype lowers your rating.

I will definitely check it up, but I would like to know how the work there has been. Have you made withdrawal since you started working there? How much have you withdrew and how much can a serious freelancer make just by working on the site as well?

Honestly, I try as much as I can to ensure that I get better with such words because it is by ensuring that I get the necessary information will now make me take decisions on what to do.

Data entry is something really basic hence anyone can do it. The competition for jobs in data entry is ridiculous. And the jobs that do pay aren't really the kind of job you'd be happy doing a small amount each job for. Look at transcribing nowadays. You'd work on a 6 min file for about 1 hour minimum for a $0.15 per min pay fee. It's not worth it. Try and do some jobs that is not a general job that anyone can do. Those kinds of jobs are what people are looking for freelance nowadays. Not anyone can edit videos, make logo designs or cosplay like Jesus for $5 a message. Do those.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Thanks for the explanation. I am looking at improving my skills and I strongly believe that it is going to work out at the end of the day. Actually, when it comes to doing work, it is always important that we focus on doing the ones that are not common since this is the best way that we can earn higher income.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

anchoreztin
I know that cosplay like Jesus you are talking about. Hahaha. Anyways, you are right, find better jobs other than data entry. If you are paid by the minute, you are still considered lucky. I was offeres to do a data entry job of 4000 entries and be paid for 9 dollars! If you compute the time you will spend for the project, that will be around 9 hours. That is roughly 1 dollar per hour. I think to myself, there are jobs that are not worth your time. Build a skill that not most people don't do. Have a specialization so that you will not be stucked on a job that pays low because of over supply for manpower.

You can expect a lot of competitors if you are going after data entry jobs online. Maybe because those who are starting with freelance online job turns to this kind of work. It takes them only a little adjustment and getting used to with the job since most of us now know to work around the computer and do typing jobs. In addition, even experienced online job takers turns to data entry jobs whenever they have a free time from their other online jobs. It is a quick way to earn additional money. I heard that apart from FreeUp, there is also Fiverr where you can offer your services. It is a freelance services marketplace. You can offer different services apart from data entry.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is true as I have noticed that the competition was quite high the day that I registered on Fiverr. One other thing that I have come to notice is that you are not really going to make a whole lot of money by doing this type of work unlike when you are someone that is skilled and trying to make ends meet.

Have you tried gotranscript? its a data entry job where you can convert audio into text and it gives you around 2 to 3 dollars per audio that your going to transcript.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
This is the first time that I am getting to hear about the gotranscript as it seems like a new site that is not popular yet. One thing that I feel that is okay with this site, as long as they are going to pay that money per data entry done, is the way that you would earn higher unlike those that are not into this work with you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I'm not really sure if we can categorize transcription jobs under data entry. They require more skills than the data entry job many have in mind. It's not just about having great listening skills. You also have to deal with people's accents. Some audio files may use technical terms that you may not be familiar with. For example, you could be transcribing a recruitment interview between an HR specialist and a systems engineer and it will normally involve question and answers about IT systems that are not common knowledge.

A simple search in Google will give you ideas about companies that require data entry but you'll have to scrutinize each site as there are a lot of scammers online just waiting for their next victim. Data entry jobs are particularly attractive to scammers because most people looking for them view them as easy jobs that can be done at leisure in one's own home. Besides the freelancing sites like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr, you can find data entry and other similar jobs in sites like Microworkers and ClickWorkers. If you can have access to them, you can also find data entry jobs in sites like SmartCrowd and MTurk.

I have been thinking of doing a transcription job as well, but the issue is that I am not that rooted when it comes to Spanish language. This is the language that I believe that I can do better in when we are looking at transcribing some of the audios for them as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

coolavender
Spanish? I don't think you have to have skills in Spanish to be able to do well in the transcription field. While being multilingual is a big plus anywhere, there are more than enough well-paying audio files in English that needs transcription. You can leave the Spanish audio files to the Spanish-speaking natives and just focus on English audio files.

Online transcription companies typically pay more for transcription jobs that require technical knowledge. Otherwise, if you can listen well and type fast, you can make decent money with general transcription jobs.

I have heard of many sites that can pay you cool money for offering your services on their sites as regards doing some transcription job for them. To be honest, I looked for a LONG time for a legitimate data entry job, before I found my current (and fantastic) job. There weren't any that didn't require a huge start-up investment, with no guarantee of results. What I suggest is doing what I did: look on Craigslist or other local employment listings and see if there is an online-based company that is hiring. That's what I did, and now I have a really good job and I couldn't be happier!

I've been thinking too to try on Upwork but t seems it not that easy to get in with them. True so many scammers these days that are pretending to a client but in the end you are just gonna waste your effort and time finishing your task without payment. So these can be the reason too why they are are careful now on Upwork.

One thing I noticed o Upwork is how clients expect freelancers to work for like $0.80 an hour.

Upwork's cut is 20% what the freelancer earns. The clients want to pay $1 an hour.

Considering that these jobs get thousands of applications daily, even if you may not want to work for stated rates and apply for the jobs you will most obviously not be hired. This is why it's advisable to sell your services directly offline to clients. I suppose if your market your services well it is possible to find some clients who'll offer you work.

Scammers have been the common problem of people who want to have online jobs or even customers who want to avail a product or service. Though there are a lot of sites that offer transcription jobs, it is best to always search for reviews and comments about it's legitimacy. Anyway, like the others, I would also recommend Upwork.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I don't joke with the reviews on some of those kind of jobs and the reason is because I always want to see that the site is one that is paying people to do serious work for them as well which is pretty fine as well.

You're probably right about that but there's many legit websites too about data entry, as you've mention one of those sites is Upwork but that website has a lot of people in there which means that you have many competencies in there and the chance of you getting hired is so small, and that's probably why I stop searching for jobs in that platform, if you know any websites about Data Entry besides Upwork, I would highly appreciate it.

I agree@jetselle, craigslist is a good place to look for work. Most people are concerned about being scammed, all you need to do is ask for a down payment. I think if you check on a employment listing site you can charge more then if you go to a site like upwork where they are millions of people looking for data entry so the pay you will get for this is peanuts. It will also be hard to find a job because the competition will be super stiff.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, I was looking at this and I think that one thing that is important is for one to avoid being scammed. There was this site that someone recommended for me to start working on back then and it was really disappointing that at the end of the day that I was unable to withdrew the earnings that I made on the site. That was something that was hurting to me as well back then.
