Is a Data Entry job alright?

I'm planning on applying a Data Entry job on whatever website I may find out and I'm curious whether it's a good career choice or if it's boring? Because I've heard a few people saying it's boring but for me as long as I earn money online just by being at home it would mean a lot to me.

Well it could get kind of boring. Data entry is one of the most basic free lance job that almost everyone could take. It is like an entry level task. As long as you could type fast and you could see and hear well, then you could probably do well in Data entry. And since it it an entry level task, one should expect a below average wage. It could be good if you are just finding a side-line to fill your vacant schedule but it could be a pretty rough road to take on as a career. Based on the sites that I have worked for so far, the tasks could be routinary. High paying projects are a bit scarce. Usually it takes about 2-3 days before something worthwhile could come around. But you could earn a little more if you could apply for as an editor. Your task would be pretty much the same except that you would be checking on the Data Entry work of others and proofread. But to be an editor, well of course you have to prove your skills first.

Well, what form of data is one supposed to fill. I have someone I need to introduce into the online world but starting with an easy job.

Aren't most tasks online even offline boring but you just have to motivate yourself to do the task. Data entry to me isn't a boring task if you develop passion for it and you have the necessary skills then you shouldn't find it difficult or boring. My cousin does data entry on Fiverr and she seems to enjoy task.

I think just about every job out there has some element of boredom or repetitiveness once you know how to do your job role. That’s part of why I don’t mind data entry. It’s a job where it’s easy to know the expectations required of you.

Data entry requires a lot of time and you might do it as your full time work. It wasn't that boring as long as you love what you are doing. It also pays less than any other free lance job. You may also try it so you could tell yourself if it was good or it was not for you. Many people is enjoying on data entry jobs, I also tried it a long time ago and it was fun, I'm just using it when I have a lot of free time because it requires a lot.

It's not worth your time to be honest. You could work 10 hours a day, 7 days a week and still not pay your rent. Even if it's just an additional source of income, the time you invest into the job is very low pay for what you're doing. I know this because I also tried doing transcription jobs. $0.60 an hour for one file is bad. There are more ways to earn more money in that amount of time from other sites. Also, most people don't hire Data Entry jobs like entering text into an Excel file. It's because it's just too simple to spend money on. Anyone can do it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Man that’s some really low pay. Here in my country you can still earn a living wage off data entry but it’s usually when you’re directly working for a company rather than freelancing. I think a lot of people try to really get their freelancers for the absolute cheapest price possible.

Even government workers making minimum wage do the most basic data entry job (Typing stuff in MS Word). Even entering data in an Excel sheet is something they're even hard up doing. (Which is a bad thing in today's modern world) I'd suggest just getting a job then if this is just your skillset.

Data entry job is manual work that is tedious and you tend to develop mental fatigue if you are new to the job. But I think you can earn good money because there were data entry job offers that I saw in one forum that gives a good salary. But the requirement in data entry is your skill in typing that you need to be accurate especially when the data entry involves number.

It is a nice and simple work for me. As long as you earn what you think is good for you then it is a good job.

I think that data entry jobs are also good as long as we are earning from it, I didn't look at it as a boring work but a good opportunity to earn some money which are very helpful to pay for our monthly bills. I would love to work for it since I know it can helps me a lot especially that the jobs are just easy and very convenient to have.

Well, every job is boring if you are not passionate about it. Thus, data entry job is not boring if you are passionate about data entry. Besides, you need to motivate yourself.

I agree, I guess motivation is such a huge thing to make people just go for what it is they want to achieve, I feel like without it, things are way more hard than it is if you are really self-motivated, I'm just gonna try a Data Entry Job and if I find it boring then I'll find another job that makes me feel fulfilled.

I think its okay. As long as you earn at what you do I think thats alright. But sometimes its get a little boring as it only repeating over and over.

Most jobs are boring and many people don't like the work they do but they get up each morning anyway and go to work because they need the money. That desire to earn money is what should drive you when you seek a job. As long as it pays you money and doesn't in any way violate your dignity or have you compromise your ethics, do it.

However, don't allow yourself to get stuck doing a job that will earn you only just a little money. Whilst you work, think about how you can start your own data entry business either online or offline, cut out the middlemen and earn more money.

You may want to try Fiverr first. Its called micro freelancing if you don't have yet portfolio so you may want to use it for your gigs. I think its kind a bit of stressing when you do data online job as it pays you little money but I think it depends on each client. You may want to apply in upwork also but its not that easy. Its kind of boring if you think it wasn't fun but I think you need to motivate yourself first before you can do anything online.

Well data entry jobs is kind a low paying and sometimes boring to have but then if we have the passion and interest to work from it then it might give us a decent amount of income as long as we work hard from it. I think we must be thankful that we have some data entry jobs especially for those beginners like me in the world of freelancing jobs because it really helps us a lot.

Transcription jobs are bad. It pays way too low. I tried it out as well and they only paid $0.20 per minute of the audio. I'm not sure what the regular rate is but I think that's not exactly good pay.

For the poster, there are some sites you can apply to for data entry. You can give it a try there's nothing wrong with trying something out because maybe it'll work for you.

I tried transcription jobs and it's not worth the time and effort because it's really hard to do. It's not as easy as it sounds because they'll give you audiotapes which are really hard to understand, very low quality recordings.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

emiaj55
Really not worth the effort. I applied with this site that took two months in process my application. After getting in, it turns out that most of their projects were worth cents to a dollar. Yet transcribing could take an hour or less for crappy audios. You could earn more with your time somewhere.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
That's a long time to take to process an application. They pay so little for so much work, it's ridiculous. The company I applied at had a time limit for every audio. You can't take hours transcribing one, a 2 minutes audio would only have around 7-8 mins of transcribing time. So not only was it hard it was also very stressful. Plus the Team Leader is just so unprofessional and rude. She's the main reason I quit to be honest.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
Yes, that's what mostly of the feedback I heard or read on reviews. It's a struggle especially with the audio system. Hearing and typing skills is needed in this kind of job. It's difficult to type words which are not pronounce well. This is usually time pressured. Patience and determination is always an advantage when it comes to this type of job. I am thinking of trying transcription job to see how will I can do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
Typing is easy, listening and typing is also easy. I've done it since I was in High School and College but back then I was speed writing instead of speed typing. It's the audio quality that makes it really hard and the time limit that's made it so stressful.
You can try it out but make sure you research on the company you're applying for. Good luck!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

knnon
You're right, they only make it sound so easy but it's not. My ears still hurt from that and it's been two weeks. Most of the time their audios are so unclear that I'd have to max out my volume and listen at a slower speed. I also got marks down for "inaudible"
Now I'm thinking maybe it's just the company I applied at that's strict with all these crazy rules.

It is a good job but you need patience. The salary is not that high but if you are have another job aside from it, well you will definitely earn a little more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It’s repetitive but I think most jobs often end up that way. Personally I quite enjoy data entry. I’ve done data entry jobs where I was able to listen to music as I worked and it was actually pretty fun. A lot less draining than dealing with customers sometimes!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
Now that you mentioned it I realized that you're right, most jobs often end up that way. I thought of a factory worker in a production company doing the same thing over and over, day in and day out. And yet, they still love their jobs even though it's repetitive.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It really depends on what kind of data you're entering. Most data entry jobs nowadays are not only boring because of its repetitive action but also because you also have to search for the data you'll be encoding.

Money is a really great motivation. Most jobs are really boring especially home-based jobs. Home-based jobs really test your discipline, motivation and time management. Money motivates me a lot. Sometimes I get bored and tired to do my job. I get tempted a lot to just sleep because the bed is just beside me. My advice to you is just to think about the money and how it will help you and your family.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think the right question to ask yourself is if it's worth your time. I know that data entry requires no skills, so many people will go after these jobs. You will find that there is fierce competition, so the job won't pay alot of money. A good example is capture work that pays you $1 to fill in 1000 captures. This may take you 4 hours or more, is this worth it? Online work is hard and it requires time and skill to make good money. You are definitely going to make good money doing data entry work.

You just got to make sure what site are you signing up for data entry. There are tons of sites out there and all of them vary at different rates and prices. If I were you, do some research on some sights to know which would suit your style more and make you feel more better. One thing I can say is that data entry is a skill that can be easily done for any kind of person. Just having a good typing skills and being able to type at the right speed to get the job done will surely save you time.

If you have the time and willingness to do data entry then I think it's worth a try. There are a lot of freelancers eyeing for the same job because it does not require much skill and experience. Whatever your decision, I wish you good luck!

Exactly! You have a very good point about how one should take to the job of data entry. Time is of a very good essence when you decide to take part in such online job.

If you lack the time to be online always to do the job, it's definitely going to be very difficult for you to earn good pay from the job m

Yeah. And usually, for someone who is just starting in the online work industry, this is the one position they always look for as all you need is basic office skills.

I wouldn't say that it is a bad move for anyone to be thinking of going onto data entry work, but what is necessary to understand is that you are going to spend a whole lot of time trying to make ends meet while you are earning so little. This is something that I don't really enjoy focusing on data entry work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
There are still some sites that would pay you less for wasting a good amount of time doing one thing or another on the site.

The main thing to take into consideration is the amount any particular website would be paying you at any point in time. If it's good enough, then it's worth it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Well, in my opinion, if the data entry job pays anything that is a decent amount of money, then I would say that it's worth it.

There are some sites that don't pay anything reasonable, so if the data entry sites pays well, you are definitely permitted to make use of it.

If you want to join any money earning app or site, better check the reviews first before joining especially if those apps or sites requires you to pay an entry fee. Scammers are everywhere. Better be safe than sorry.

If you are a newbie to online jobs and freelancing, you can go for a Data entry job. It's just a simple job and everyone can do it. You don't necessarily have to be an expert and there are no requirements needed. So it's already a good job for you to begin with. But as time goes by, you would want to improve yourself, learn and gain more skills and earn higher. You will seek for higher paying jobs that will sustain your needs and pay your monthly bills. When it comes to salary, it's not something that is really promising. I think data entry jobs are more of an entry-level.

I don't rhink boring should be your worry here. Maybe you should worry more about the work hours and how much you stand to make for them. Work is not always fun. Few people end up doing what they love and making money out of it. If it's the money that matters like you say, then that should be a good enough reason for you to look past the boredom. Maybe with time, you could move on to something else, or after a while, you could put some of the money you make into something that brings you some degree of happiness. That way, you have something to smile at while you work.

But for me as long as I earn money online just by being at home, it would mean a lot to me.

You said it yourself, so never mind that data-entry work is tedious, as long as it keeps food on the table, you're fine. Who knows when you work for him longer you might take up other jobs concerning the business like marketing, etc. Make sure always to provide quality work to please your clients. All the best!

Yes, that's right. This job is not just a little job. It's a decent job which is very far earning dirty money. It's better to have something that's simple and tedious that pays you everyday than something bad that pays you big.

I think that data entry jobs are worth it even though the earnings are just small especially for me that I am working as a full time from a certain company, it would be a good extra income already to buy those things that I really want and even to pay for my monthly bills so that my salary would become fixed and doesn't need to take some of my monthly installments.

Is a Data Entry Job alright: I found it very interesting because I want to try data entry as well, Actually i am currently searching some site that legit base on the experience that users give. I found freeup, but there's a qualification you need to passed first before you can start and the evaluation takes time.

Data entry job is a common online job that new freelancers are looking for. Most clients take advantage of it by offering low payment rates. Knowing that there is a big pool of data encoders, it will not be hard for them to get someone to do the job.

There is nothing wrong trying data entry job, you just have to evaluate if the job you are taking really pays the time and effort you are exerting.

Are you literally desperate for work?
Are you fast at typing (>60 wpm)?
Are you willing to suffer boredom as you are doing the same tasks over and over again for hours?
Are you willing to work for sub-par rates for an easy but tedious job?

If you said yes to all of those, data entry is the perfect job for you.

Any job is "alright" as long as it's decent and legal. Well, if you're finding a job that challenges your skills, then find another one, I guess. For me, data entry jobs are pretty good especially if you're still trying to adjust and adapt the freelancing world.

I think you should try it first yourself. It is good to know other people's review or opinion but you'll never know well unless you try it yourself. Some of the websites I know have a training first so you'll have a glimpse of what you are supposed to do. From that, you can already decide if you like the work or not.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You have a great point. Well, people have their own standards of their "okay" jobs and such. It would still best for the person himself to experience it. Anyway, there are a lot of jobs open for a lot of people out there. You can still find another one if the other doesn't suit you.

I've also read that some data entry jobs are scams. its really hard to find a true data entry job. Remember data entry is transferring data from one format to another e.g excel to word or word to excel or pdf. Not many people will pay for that so any advertised are always almost scams.
