We Heart It versus Pinterest: Which is Better?

Many people know about and use Pinterest. It is a very popular image-based social network which launched in 2010. In 5 years, i.e. by 2015, the owners were discussing how they were going to spend their millions. The site has been extremely successful.

Is there an alternative site or something similar? Yes. There is a site called We Heart It. It actually started 2 years earlier than Pinterest in 2008. “We Heart It describes itself as "A home for your inspiration" and a place to "Organize and share the things you love.” (Quote Source:
Wikipedia)

That description sounds just like Pinterest, doesn't it?

It is … sort of. One person described it as “... a younger and artsier version of Pinterest. Instead of pin boards, the app has "canvases" and "collections." Users can "heart" and tag others users in photos. We Heart It is available for both Android and iOS devices.” (Quote source:
Quora)

We Heart It versus Pinterest: Which is Better?

~ Pinterest has 250 million active users
~ We Heart It has 20 million active users

If you let numbers persuade you, then you would immediately conclude that Pinterest is better than We Heart It.

But if it takes more than numbers to convince you, then you must ask:

  • What is the benefit of using both social networks if they do the same thing?

Here are five reasons for you to ponder:
  1. Both Pinterest and We Heart It are popular image-based social networks, free to join, and visually appealing.
  2. In addition, for both Pinterest and WHI, it is very easy to cross-post your social shares from other platforms like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.
  3. You can cross-post from Pinterest TO We Heart It.
  4. You can cross-post from We Heart It TO Pinterest.
  5. Both Pinterest and WHI allow affiliate (or monetized) links.
  6. We Heart It, however, allows you to write articles as well as maintain image collections.
  7. When listing the most significant marketing trends for 2018, DreamGrow.com described We Heart It as an “emerging social media platform”, meaning … it has the potential for growth.

Do you use Pinterest, We Heart It, or both social platforms?

Which is better?

I convinced myself that they both have a value-add, so I use both platforms.

The same is true with. I only have a pinterest account. I don't have the we heart it account. It is more popular than the other.

I don't have a Pinterest account but I am familiar with it. It is my first time to know about we Heart It. It is true that Pinterest is more popular than the other.

I don't think so. Pinterest is famous but most people would still prefer using Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. I's just my observation but I know These website have a lot of million user compared to Pinterest.

Yes, same here with me. I will consider using the other competitor which is we heart it so that I have a lot of options.

Me too. I've only seen Pinterest so far. Maybe I'll check it out some time. I just like reading inspirational quotes online. Pinterest has lots of interesting stuff available for its users. We can customize our content feed according to our preferences.

Yea the comparison was awesome and I haven't heard of we heart it either.

I never know there's this kind of platform in Pinterest. Well maybe because I seldom use this website so I'm not familiar with the changes they have made.

I am more familiar with Pinterest than We Heart It. Actually, it is my first time to hear that. However, based on your observation they are both good platforms. Nonetheless, Pinterest are more common and more popular than the other one.

Pinterest seems more popular with the over 200 million users that are on it. However, if I am asked to make a pick, I would say that the We Heart It is a pretty much better platform for me to join.

I think this is the second time I heard about we heart it. I only have pinterest. I could not give my own comparison yet.

I like the name of we heart it. Pinterest is like pinning my interests. I think the two words became one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yea, it's my first time to hear something like that, I think their publicity team is not good enough that's why Pinterest had edge over them when they came into existence.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I also haven't heard about We Heart It. Pinterest is a good platform to share and show off some of your photos that you would like to showcase. I guess this js because Pinterest has a lot more users that We Heart It.

It is the first time I'm hearing of we heart it. 20 million subscribers. Those are numerous people who are already using the site. Considering the fact that some newspapers reach only 10 million or less people, this could be a site which can be a great marketing platform for online marketers because I'm supposing there aren't too many marketers on the site at the moment.

I think I'll just take a look around and find out for myself which of the two social media sites is better.

I have a Tumblr account and I was constantly coming across users who were sharing great content from this site called "We Heart It". At first I thought it was just a button people clicked the same as the Like button on Facebook or Twitter. But one day I clicked a link and it led me to this awesome site with great images. Images that I had not seen anywhere else on the web. That's when I realized this site was like Tumblr in that it had its own unique audience and they were a group of loyal users to the platform. If you want to reach an audience you have to go where they hang out!

I don't make use of We heart it or the other one at the moment, but one thing that I will have to say is that there is need for us to see the need to always be in the know on how to express the things that interest us. Reading through this, I will have to say that We Heart it is a better platform that I will join.

This is the first time that I have heard of We Heart It as a competition of Pinterest. To be honest about the subject, I haven't tried Pinterest yet although I know the nuances that you pin something for others to see. You can also re-pin what is interesting to you that is pinned there by other users. Maybe I should check on Pinterest and that site We Heart It so that I will not feel ignorant when there are discussions about those sites.

From the bits of business history I gleaned, Pinterest was much more aggressive in marketing their platform and as such people learned about the platform a lot quicker. The guy who started We Heart It actually only created a tool that he could use for himself. Then he realized that others would like to use it and so he developed it and opened the doors for others to “heart” what they liked.

Pinterest is way ahead of WHI in terms of market share. But not everybody can have the lion's share. If the WHI owners can generate a decent profit from the platform that's all they're after. They don't necessarily want to compete with Pinterest. They have a smaller group of users. But sometimes people want to be a part of a smaller group. There are some people who feel like they're drowning or being buried at sites like Pinterest and Facebook. It's like with businesses. Some people prefer a small business to do business with as opposed to a large multinational corporation. The analogy is Pinterest is to Large multinational corporation AS We Heart It is to Small business.

Pinterest for sure. It’s something quite widely used among my friendship group and we pin everything from recipes to organizational ideas and more. It’s a great way of keeping track of all the cool things you find on the internet.

If you ask me I think Pinterest was made for my daughters. They are always looking for stuff on Pinterest! We Heart It versus Pinterest: Which is Better?

It ends up being pretty addictive! Sometimes I go on there looking up one particular thing...a certain recipe, for instance. Then, before I know it, I've ended up looking at different pins for an hour! I really do need to go and organize my Pinterest boards and delete things I don't need anymore...I have so many things pinned that now it's feeling a little disorganized!

I've used a Pinterest before and it's easy to use and you can really get an HD photo from it.

If you really want to get a lot of mileage out of Pinterest, join a Group Board or create your own and invite others to join you. I used to have only stand-alone pinboards but I started receiving invitations to join Group Boards. Then I realized it was easy to create my own Group Boards. I have noticed the difference in pinning to my pinboards and pinning to the Group Boards. More viewers see the Group Boards. They pop out higher in the search results. That's the way the Pinterest search engine works.

I have not heard of We Heart It before this. I'm a fan of using Pinterest for personal purposes, and just recently for business purposes. But if this We Heart It is just as good as Pinterest, and the only difference is just that We Heart It is just blooming, then I think that it would be worth to check out. Investing time to blooming platforms may give you a head start in leveraging them to your business and fully utilizing them when they become a world hit.

I am not familiar with I heart it seriously. I have an account in Pinterest and I love searching images there like phone wallpaper, men hairstyles about wedding ideas and etc. Its really a big help for me.

I really like both, however for distinct reasons. We heart it's far a more of an image website in which you can discover inspirational quotes, touring, fashion, make-up and funny images, at the same time as pinterest has all that plus it offers you plenty of recommendations on anything you're interested in. For instance if you are looking make-up pictures it will show that and suggestions on the way to apply make-up, ideas.

Thanks for the comparison. I have never heard about We Heart, but I have an account with Pinterest. The comparison is a wake up to all those who never thought Pinterest does not have an alternative.

I guess it is good to take advantage of both sites, based on the comparison.

Pinterest is what I have been used to for a very long time now and I don't have any need to look for other alternatives that offer the same or similar services.

We heart it is averagely good in my opinion but Pinterest is way better than it and I'm sure it's the reason why most people make use of Pinterest.

I have been using Pinterest for some days now and have found it somewhat useful for posting pics and also creating boards of the topics that I am interested in. I have heard about the site Weheart for the first time. Sometimes I find it difficult to create pins and boards on Pinterest, especially when I am using my mobile phone. I would definitely try and find out about this new site. It would be great if Weheart is a bit more mobile friendly than Pinterest.

Pinterest and other social media sites won't ever let you publish articles. The point of social media is for users to drive traffic to their content. Dropping a simple link allows them to do that. Although, I admire We Heart It's unique approach.

I'm not familiar with We Heart It. I'm using Pinterest and it's great to know that they're making the site a better place for their users by cleaning up bad and irrelevant links and fine tuning query results. I guess if you still have time for another bookmarking site, it wouldn't hurt to use it. If I'm a creator, seller, or blogger, I would probably exhaust useful sites for promoting my content/products specially when it takes small extra effort to do so. Personally, and as a user, I'm a pinterest fan.

The beauty of these sites is that most of them allow you to create an account free of charge. Using them is just like taking advantage of free advertising. Any business owner can tell you that paid advertising is a significant marketing expense. Social media platforms like Pinterest and We Heart It really do help out the “little people”.

I’ve never ever heard of we hearts it. If it was started before Pinterest I would call it a non-starter. It has been there since 2008 and has had no impact?I don’t see how it will make any traction in social media. I use Pinterest and I would say that I don’t see it as a major social media platform in a few years to come. In many ways instagram is replacing Pinterest, I don’t see how we heart it will make any strides in this very competitive space. However I will check it out, it maybe useful, even to get ideas for my Pinterest.

I agree with you. If We Heart started years ago, it may be in danger of losing it's fire in a few more years, and might be completely closed. The same thing with Pinterest, it is slowly being forgotten because of the Instagram trend.

I'm not a user of both Pinterest and We Heart It. Because I'm so busy with Facebook and YouTube that I have no time to waste with other social media platforms. But if I have to choose one, I'll choose pinterest because it has a much larger user base.

Thanks for giving us an insights about the two social media platforms but for now I only used pinterest since I found it to be useful in my daily activities especially in my online jobs, I have never tried the we heart it since it is my first time to hear such kind of social media platform but I am willing to give it a try in the future since I also want to know how good it is. Maybe in due time I will make an account on we heart it to make an experience with that.

I have a Pinterest account but I am not a very active user of it. And honestly, I never heard "we heart it" before. But it seems interesting to check. What I like about Pinterest is that it gives me great images and a good source of many ideas. It is like my other option aside from Google.

It really is a great way to get inspired! I find so many great ideas on there. I especially love design ideas, including for my children's bedrooms. Some people are really incredible at interior design and it motivates me to make a really cute living environment for my family.

For certain things it has become like Google to me, too.

I think that most people are using the pinterest social media platform into certain things since it is more popular than the we heart it. I have also an account at pinterest and I am not active so much with it since I can only used it when there are some task on my online sites that I need to fulfill with the use of that social links. It is very helpful for me because I can make money fro that links that is why I can say that it is important for me since I can make use of it in a unique way.

* We Heart It has an article publishing tool. *
Both Pinterest and We Heart It are image-based social sharing platforms. But none of the comments above mention anything about the fact that you can also publish articles via We Heart It. It's a new feature. Pinterest does not have an article-publishing feature. As a test for my first article, I wrote about Korean drama and then I included links to my K-drama collection. The publishing tool was very easy to use and the end result was visually appealing. This could be a useful marketing strategy.

i believe Pinterest has the most users so from that it has beaten the We Heart It I'm not saying that Pinterest is better but the number of people using it only proves that it is easy to use. Even when searching images via search engines, most of the images are from Pinterest. They made it to the top maybe because of their simple interface which attracts users.

I like that I can see other user's collections and I can just copy some that I like to add to my own collection. I don't see myself using another similar service since this one already works.
