I collect American Comics, Graphic Novels and Japanese Manga and I consider them as books although some people only consider Graphic Novels as books and not comic books which some consider as periodicals because it's released on a monthly or bimonthly basis.

I have a high pile of Archie comics that I buy every now and then. I am talking about the present time and not when I was younger. Comics is my way of relaxing my mind before sleeping. There is always Archie comics by my bedside that I grope for it when I am about to sleep. It has been a good habit for me to read before sleeping. With the classification of the comics as a book, yes, I consider it a book.

I also have lots of Archie comics I have collected trough the years. Some have torn covers already which proves that I truly loved reading them. I, too, think comics are categorized as books because they also convey stories just in the form of a sequence of drawn pictures .

I read a lot of those when I was a kid. There's a very good local title, penned by Pol Medina, it's called "Pugad Baboy", I like it a lot because it makes me laugh and I have collected all the books.

Yes I consider comic books as book. There are different types of book so why not considers comic books as a book. Comic books are still written and printed and sewn or glued together and bound with covers so therefore it's a book.

That is the thing as they always take time to put it in the book form. There is no need to say that it is not an actual book because of the nice features that it has got as well.

Yeah I agree. In the very basic sense, comics are books. Besides they have contents separated by chapters or by story. They could either be published at one time or they may have sequels as well. So in what sense are they not a book?

I agree with you. Books content story and as far as I know comic has it to. Though they dont have the same way to show it but still its a story right?

Definitely I was trying to think hard why one will ever think comic books shouldn't be catergorized as a book.it almost like most frictional books but the only difference is that comics books are more hilarious.

Yes. What makes them different? The entertainment value? I know some people who consider comic books as shallow. Personally, comic books for me are really good books. I have a few. I like to read it, especially when I am bored. Reading comic books ignite my imagination and inspires me.

I can say that comic book is an actual book as people always get to learn a thing or two from reading this despite the fact that it is mostly filled with some fun stories. Any book that passes information to the public is known as an actual book.

Do comic book count as a book: For me comic book also consider as a book because it also contains of the idea of the author, the stories he/she made in a book form is no doubt to be a consider as a book. And, another point is the name it self "Comic Book" is enough basis that it was kind of book.

I think that I would consider comic book as a book because it is a learning material that help us to get some information or knowledge that can be useful in our day to day living. As long as it has an informative or entertaining purpose then I would really call it as a book.

I can not see why it should be not? Novels have long since used visual aids. Comic books are just focused more on visuals than the written content and yet that doesn't mean that the written content is forgone. There are a lot of comics that has a deeper story than some average novels. Scholars are even considering them as forms of literature now- which I think is long due.

Comic books are real books to me because there have their characters, storyline and plots. Some are written with creativity. It can really help one have a much needed rest by staying in doors and reading them
I have some comic books stacked away in my library for daily use.

Comic books most certainly are some of the best books anyone can read. I like them very much because I like visual content and minimalist story-telling which comic books do quite well. Some of my favorite comics are the Asterix and Obelix books.

In fact many story tellers are often advised to learn how to draw comics so they sell their writing both as novels and graphic novels.

Yes of course they're books. What else would they be? Even children's picture books are books.
A book's definition the the dictionary is, "a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers."
There you go. I'm not sure why others would say it isn't.

Because of their standards? Well, i think they considered a comic book as a for kids or low standard.

Maybe because the only stuff they consider books are the ones who have texts written in them, line by line, in a paragraph form.

Those people need to live a little more. Comic books are fun. The artwork is just great. It takes a lot of skill to create a comic book.

I think it is still considered as a book. The only difference is that it has illustrations and it has conversations but it is still involves reading so no wonder it is still a book. If stories or words and sentences are collected and they bound it, it is called book. Even if it's all illustrations, it is still a book.

As for me, I consider comic books as a book. From the term itself comic "book", it is a book for me. Though it has a different format and length, I still consider it as a book.

It is literally called a comic BOOK. Hate it or love it, comic books will always be considered a book. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a book is a "a set of written sheets of skin or paper or tablets of wood or ivory". A comic book fits the requirements of being a book no matter what its contents are.

Exactly what I thought, the word book is already there. So naturally, it's a book. I don't think I've met anyone who said that comics aren't books. This may sound mean but I hope I don't meet one who thinks that way.

I still consider comic as a book. Although, it doesn't have the thickness and fullness of words. It has a story in a form of drawing. It contains art which is more interesting and capture the attention of the reader. I think, it doesn't matter whether it's a book or not for as long as it contain information that is useful and can learn from it. That's all that matter.

Yes, I believe they are. Comic books don't only serve as pure entertainment, but you also gain knowledge from it. For example, if a comic book's story is about history, they might incorporate a thing or two that indeed happened in the past.

I think we should start with what is a book? Most people consider a book as something you learn from or something you get entertained by. A comic provides entertainment so in my opinion I would define this as a book. I think that a book can also have pictures. I know that a comic has mostly pictures. A coloring book is book right? Yet it has few if any words and more pictures.

Yes. of course comic book is a book. even though there are pictures and comical illustrations in the book they still have a message and story to convey to the audience. I love to read all sorts of books including comic books even now. In fact some comic books have a very high educational value particularly for children.

I think it is. That's why its called comic book. The comic is also informative in some readers. When I was young and just started to read, comics is a big help for me. It is fun to read and entertaining because of the artistic pictures in it.

Maybe the fact that it is called a comic "book" is self explanatory?
Well, I think the idea of a book is a number of pages glued together with the idea that one can write or draw on them. Even when these pages are blank, we still call them books. It is my opiniom that it i9s not so much about the content, but about the form.

Well they do have the word book in it so of course they are. Comic books still portray a story and it is also unique on how they present it to the audience. Comic books are my kind of thing besides manga books. I enjoy reading them because of the content they show and how they are able to portray it to the people.

I have to say that they are still books for me. They have stories, they have chracters. It's just like a story book for children, but more interesting for adults. Besides, it has a "book" on it's name, so why do we have to debate over this?
