Content Generation Idea: Controversy, Debate and Dispute!

Content Generation Idea: Controversy, Debate and Dispute!
You know, every industry has hotly debated topics, topics that are held in a lot of controversy, debate and dispute! I'm talking about controversies that are within your niche industry. Most industries have these hotly debated or hotly disputed controversies, debates and discussions. If you're quite knowledgeable about your niche and industry, you probably know how to find them. You probably already have them with the people that are within and connected to your niche industry already.

How to find Controversy, Debate and Dispute in your niche for content generation ideas?

Well it's not always easy since not every niche has hotly debated controversies and stories. But they don't have to be life and death debates. They just have to be something that gets people hot and bothered under the collar and then either start a conversation or create some content around that argument, debate or controversial subject.

To find these sorts of things one would need to search your niche industry keywords and use keywords like "debate", "controversy", "argument" etc etc. Example: "Dog training + controversy". This would likely return lots of results where people have been discussing those controversial and highly debatable subjects and topics that they're passionate about.

You'll likely find forums and blogs mostly since these are places where people can post comments and replies to something controversial or highly debative that someone has posted. The good thing about these types of stories is that they really do get people hot and bothered and people just can't help but read it word for word and responding to it!

For example, just searching for "Dog training controversy" I found this interesting article on the Daily Mail site that said "Yes, I give dogs electric shocks and use spike chokers... but I'm NOT cruel, says Hollywood's favourite pet guru Cesar Millan". That one article has 264+ comments on it!

Now I ask you, (as a dog lover) do you think it's right to use electric shock collars and spike chokers? That's a whole content idea and story just right there on its own! You see where I'm going with this right? This can be applied for YOUR niche industry.

Controversy Sales!

This is a great method for not only coming up with new content ideas and topics for things that are super hot to write about, but since they are so, these types of articles can go viral very fast! If you are very controversial and say things that wouldn't normally be able to sit right (can't swallow) with normal people. Those same articles will get more shares and could go viral just from how controversial it is alone!

But that's Content Generation Idea 20: Controversy, Debate and Dispute!

Controversial debates and topics will always do well. But you have to make sure that you try not to offend someone or a group of people because you could potentially lose readers from that. It's always a good idea to have your readers discuss and debate topics within your blog but you will need to make sure that there is a limit to avoid any fights or controversial comments that could offend someone reading your blog.

For sure, writing about a dispute or debate would solicit comments and reactions to your content. However, you should be ready with the possible drawback like a hate comment or a violent reaction. In my niche about pets, one good debate or controversy is the breed of dogs. Is the breed really that important or is it just being used by the breeder to up the price tag of their puppies.

I think this is a good way to gets views for your content. Who likes to ready boring content? I certainly don't! And neither do majority of people. What I would advise is that you pick a trending topic and attach some controversy to it. Your views are bound to explode! Controversy always sells, ask newspaper vendors, their sales are highest when there is some kind of scandal, especially on the newspaper's front page.

This is really great especially when the writer can even get to the point where she can be able to write those contents while walking freely on the road. Being able to detect the controversial stories around the world of newspapers and get info from it should help one to develop new contents.

I have never written about controversies but I have to admit that the headlines of such articles are so catchy at times that I end up reading the article and I also look forward to any updated news on this topic. Such content will for sure drive people to your blog. My blog is on health and nowadays there are so many controversies on healthcare. I may write such content in the future.

Creating content around controversies can definitely be a very good idea to boost the traffic on your websites. People always like to express their views on the controversial topics and there is always a debate happening around the controversial subjects. If you are able to provoke people on a controversial subject through your content then your content itself will become more controversial and therefore more popular.
