Forum posting services are dead because forums are dying!

Remember how popular forums were back in 2005? Huge and active communities everywhere and website forums for every kind of niche you could think off!

Now, they're all dying! Sure a lot of forums are still around and still have somewhat of an active community that produces content. But micro-niched forums are long gone and the ones that had the biggest communities in the past are only but a shadow of their former selves.

Why triggered Forums's decay?
Social media! Especially Facebook and Twitter. Forums were highly sociable websites were large communities of people talked to each other on certain subjects or "topics".
Why should people be active on forums anymore when anyone can create a Facebook group, add all their friends + people with similar interest?

Why should anyone still use forums for news and events since they can find everything on twitter?
Big social media forums killed the forums and along with the necessity of forum owners to pay people to post.

Sure, some webmasters are still creating forums and are looking to hire forum posters but as an experienced forum poster that had posted on hundreds if not thousandths of forums over the years, I've noticed a serious decline in orders for the last few years.

I sometimes check forums I written for in a significant way in the past, the domain of most of them don't even exist anymore and the ones that are still online are long dead and buried, having no recent member activity. So yes, you can still make money from forum posting, but I doubt the glory of forums will ever be returned.

I have to agree with you on this, and it's a bit sad. - First of all, as I love forums. I've always liked them better than social medias, groups and pages. I've always liked forums better than any live chat-things too. - However, forums will probably never return to it's glory again. Social media is too easy nowadays. - Anyone can literally do anything, and that's probably the reason forums won't last forever.

The second reason I think it's sad, is because my main business is brand building and I focus on forums in particular but I obviously also focus on social media platforms too, but it has always been easier to use forums. That being said, I will probably need to alter my entire business and change my approach a bit in the nearest future, and that's actually quite scary.

I think forums evolved in one way or the other. Sure there are still classic forums out there and those were the ones I was talking about in the above post.
But some platforms evolved, look at websites like Quora or even WordClerks community discussion here!
These are just evolved forums, simplified to offer a similar experience to social media but static enough to cover basic old school forum functionalities.

Yes I think that if you look at social media you will find loads of groups on these websites where people can discuss certain topics.

In the last few years so many social media sites have sprung up and it is not easy to be everywhere at once. Social media is a fun way to stay in touch with friends and family, to share any content you have and to connect with like minded people in groups. I can certainly see how forums have become less popular over time.

Social media is much more versatile than forums.

Indeed they are, it also constantly evolving! I mean fb groups and now fb marketplaces, simply blows my mind, soon fb will put big marketplace forums that re still active out of work.

Definitely and I've noticed that the prices per post have also taken a massive drop. The price drop is most likely due to the fact that there are much fewer forums available to post on in return for money and because so many people are willing to do paid posting, they are also prepared to accept less money so that they can be accepted for the job. I've also noticed, like you, that a lot of big forums have closed down. There were a few that were extremely active back in 2012 that I was a member of and now they are gone, only a blank page appears now when you visit those domains. I think forums are most likely die down because of the increasing use of social media. Add to that the fact that people just have less time and they don't want to waste any time posting around on forums.

I would agree at certain points but somehow I would also disagree because forum posting services are still popular these days. If you try to check the paid forum posting sites, you can see a lot of forums there being listed and some of them even aren't fresh ones. I remember seeing this forum about survival and it has already a bunch of members and daily posts up to 500 per day! And after the forum got listed, the number has increased rapidly and it made it even more popular. There are also new forums who have just recently opened and the owner would list their forums to paid posting sites, and they also get a huge amount of people and traffic. As long as you have money as a forum owner, I think your forum will never die.

I agree, forum posting is here to stay because forums won't die off that easily. Sure a lot of forums have disappeared over the years mostly because of Facebook and other social media platforms the numbers dropped significantly but forums never died off there's still a lot left and theres always new ones too.

I agree with you too. Forum sites are being destroyed by social media sites. Many people prefer to post short comments, maybe just short abbreviation that keeps interacting with each other. However, I still love forum sites because here we have genuine people who are helpful when we need answers, not just trash answers that fly kites.

Lots of forums are still thriving it's just that certain ones took a tumble due to the rise of social media. If you operated in a certain space, your forum survives because people stuck around but also you pull in younger members. For forums geared towards the older crowd, I think they left for social media because it allowed them more control over their topics. When you have a social media page, you can post whatever you want on it. Even VERY controversial things that would surely get you banned at a forum.

I never knew about all this since I knew about forums like 4 months ago. I have only noticed a decline in active forums but I never knew forums were popular back then. I hope this will change in the future since I have a lot to write about.

I think that high quality forums with useful content and active members can survive the onslaught of social media. People looking for serious information from experts won't expect to find them in Facebook where people are typically interacting informally. Forums aren't just for interacting. They are tools for promoting products or services or for driving traffic to a site. The number of forums may be declining but it's unlikely for forums and forum posting to vanish completely.

I agree that forums are not that popular anymore like before and I also agree that it may be because of the social media’s popularity. However, I think forum is here to stay because a forum has a specific theme. For example, I am a pet lover and I would prefer a forum about pets than social media. Even if there is a Facebook Page about pets, I would still choose the forum because it is a real community where you get to know the members. So I guess forums are here to stay.

I agree fully with what corzhens said that forums decline was brought about by socia l media but because of the specific and detailed discussions in forums it's here to stay. Also i think that forum postings will just evolve. Who knows the next evolution might be forums in Facebook.

True, most people just visit the most popular social media sites, particularly Facebook, because it has basically everything rolled into one. Some of the younger people don't even know about the obscure little forums out there until they have to search for a particular topic for some project and end up on that forum.

Nowadays, we have different social media platforms which provide valuable information to users. As a result, many people prefer to use social media than forums to express themselves. Moreover, you can reach more people on social media compared to forums. This generation has a crave for social media. I have to admit that I was a member of several forums in the past and many of them have gone offline. Social media is making it difficult for forums to survive.

I think it depends on what the forum is about. Forums that discuss specific niches and trending topics in my opinion do very well and are better than discussions on Facebook or Twitter. A good example are forums that discuss making money online, affiliate marketing and cryptocurrency are very much alive and do very well. Forums that discuss general life, relationships, spirituality e.t.c are more or less dead.I'll bet their owners only keep them running for SEO purposes.
