Currently? I think 3 topics that would immediately sell an e-book are:

health and wellness - people these days are always looking for new diet or exercise regimens, or foods they can consume which are healthy and boost energy

relationships - men and women aren't going to stop dating and wooing each other anytime soon

tech - in this day and age of everything becoming digitized and automated, people who can't keep up or have fallen behind will need a serious instruction manual on how to join the rest of modern day society.

I laughed at your quote about "relationships" because it is so true. I would not mind reading blogs about this, but I am not sure if I could ever take any advice from them. I also do not yet feel qualified to WRITE blogs about relationships even though I've had many of them and have even been married before. I would be more successful writing about health, and I am not a doctor, or writing about technology, and I am a noob, than I would be writing about relationships--and I have had tons of experience in that department, lol.

@JoeMilford Well Joe I think people would appreciate your opinions or advice on relationships. There are plenty of people in the romance or relationship book spectrum who aren't currently happily married or who've had many break ups or divorces. But still have vital, important knowledge to pass along nonetheless.

Judas2018,
I appreciate what you are saying here. I have learned a great deal about this subject over the years. I recently was left by the love of my life for a younger man, and it completely devastated me. I am still trying to work on how to deal with this--I can't tell you of the nightmares, the sleepless nights, the weight loss--you name it--that this ordeal has put me through. I just keep waiting for time to slowly make things better, day by day, hour by hour, but it has been pretty rough, if I am going to be honest and vulnerable here for a moment.

I've been planning to write 10 ebooks for Amazon Kindle. I'm going to try to make money out of it and I did spend a lot of time researching what niches are saleable. Here's some of them. 1.Health
2.Vices
3.Relationships
Im now on my 2nd book and my target is to finished my 10th book by October, then I'll post it in Amazon. It's better to post a lot of books all at the same time than one or two only.

Books on writing are famous right now. Same with lifestyle and wellness topics. But the most in demand would have to be technology. So many gadgets are constantly being released.

I completely agree with your pointing out tech and relationships. Health and wellness is a good topic but I'm sure that relationships and tech is more hot to write on. People love to discuss on relationship related issues, they never seem to get tired of it which is why I recommend doing a piece on the topic because it's definitely going to attract lots of interest and chatters.

I'd say that I pretty much agree with you 100% here.

On the topic of health and wellness, this busy, modern day lifestyle is really taking a toll on people's health, so everyone is trying to find a way to either stay healthy or cure their illnesses. Self-help books have been all the rage for years now thanks to this one fact.

Same goes for relationships. The fact is that people have lost touch with traditional dating and relationship building, so they pretty much need someone else to tell them how to do these things.

And tech is just too obvious to even explain. It's everywhere and isn't go anywhere, and people want to know more.

I'm not really well versed in relationship field, not that I'm not into any relationship but I find it hard to give relationships advice or discuss matters related to it. Sometimes, I feel it's a private matter that shouldn't be discussed publicly although some relationship issues needs outside help. Tech and Health seems to be more convenient for me to work on.

I'm not all that well-versed in relationships either, but there certainly are plenty of people who think they are. I think there are definitely some issues that need to be resolved through outside help like counseling or therapy, but I can't say I have much faith in most people who write relationship/dating advice books. When you write generic advice that is meant to appeal to the general population, you can't address the specific intricacies that apply to each unique relationship. Sometimes that can end in disaster.

I agree with this, especially with everyone being so health-conscious and having problems with relationships, with technology being on the background of everything. Mixing these three topics up is also great as you begin to discuss online dating, websites to check for your health, etc.

I think that the three topics for eBooks are topics about faith, hope and love. These three but the greatest of these is love. Stories about faith, hope and love will be good topics.

I agree with you. I think those topics are really very relevant. Those topics are indeed great topics for eBooks.

I think you should consider writing on relationships. It has been selling for those that did it in the past, but you've got to be ready to run a mentorship package on top of it as well.

JoeMilford
Barida,
Unfortunately, I am not qualified to mentor anyone in relationships--I would get slapped with a malpractice lawsuit! i can only write about my experiences--my triumphs and mistakes--and just pass that on to people. Like the rest of us, it is usually easier to give advice than to take our own advice about things, and if I were to speak of relationships, I would be feeling like a bit of a hypocrite, to be honest. I do think that it is a great topic to explore, though, and I would surely be open to reading blogs about this subject.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Alright, I've got your point on that and it's fine that you don't have the zeal to go into mentorship for relationships. The thing with passing information doesn't have to mean you'll be fine on that as long as you have the tips needed for that.

This is exactly why I don't feel comfortable giving relationship advice. It's not really my thing, I don't feel confident doing it because most times what worked for Mr. A wouldn't work for Mr B and this becomes a problem as a result of individual differences. I can read about relationship issues but would distant myself from giving anyone advice.

My personal 3 favorite topics are

  • How to guides.
  • History
  • Autobiographies

Other than those 3 subjects I really don't read any other ebook. Because nothing else really interests me.

I think these are ALL good choices of genre and niche. I think that I would be interested in these as well; however, my main choice of blog topics though are literature-based, especially poetry based. I also love reading fiction by bloggers when it is good and reading reviews and discussions about movies and TV series. There's so much stuff out there that it is hard to keep up, though, and you could spend twenty-four hours a day reading blogs if you wanted to, right?

I think health is one of the biggest topics in ebooks right now and possibly of all time. When I first started looking at ebooks as a possible venture this was one of the topics that constantly kept coming up. Aside from that, making money was also one that was very prominent and seems to be something that will probably never end in terms of people wanting to know more so if I were to choose a topic I'd probably go with this one.

I agree that both of these are popular, but i also must admit that I am a bit skeptical of trusting them without a lot of research. I really find it hard to put my body or my finances into the hands of a stranger who may or may not have decent credentials, so I get wary of these types of blogs. If they have good reviews and the credentials of the content writers are good, then I will try to give them a shot. Otherwise, I skim them, judge them somewhat, and then move on.

I would also add horror to this as a good topic to write about. I think a lot of horror fans are more open to just downloading digital content rather than buying physical books considering the boom of creepy short stories online and also the nature of telling horror stories lends itself well to online conversations because horror is one of those topics that is great when it's really seeping into your mind and making you imagine things instead of actually showing it to you like in movies. I think when it comes to horror books might actually be better than movies and I wouldn't say that for a lot of other genres.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
@Baburra Horror is actually great to write about for two reasons.

  1. People love the genre and are always looking to consume new and interesting things. Especially if they can get a chill or two out of it along the way.
  2. Many horror books if they 'pop' enough in the marketplace, can gain the attention of a studio or production company. Looking to option your works and develop them for a feature film. Aka... the opportunity of a lifetime.

Baburra,
This has come up several times in this forum, the horror genre, that it, and I think that it is a totally cool way to go in terms of content. I personally really enjoy listening to creepy pastas online while I work--I never get tired of a good ghost or supernatural story! I think that horror stories and ghost stories are so entertaining, and they give you a rush of adrenaline and a sense of your own mortality for a moment, which gets your heart racing, and I think that is so cool.

Totally, horror genre always works. You don't have to be a horror/terror lover to want to check about it. In fact, sometimes you feel attracted to it specially when you're not a fan, is that feeling that gives you adrenaline and makes you read it. I do feel like reading about any supernatural issue, I just can't help it, so there's always chance on horror theme for sure.

I read and write fiction ebooks and am a reviewer for sever small horror presses and I got to tell you--not so much. Horror has a very dedicated readership but it is small and very particular. You have to know just how to write what they want. Zombie book fans make historical romance fans look like pussycats and they are pretty savage if you have dinner serve on an anachronistic china pattern.

In terms of ebook sales there is a pretty even split in the income made made non-fiction and fiction, and a pretty even split in income from romance between romance and everything else. Horror would be down below 1%.

Three timeless and compelling hot topics: Wealth, Health And Relationship

1. Everyone is seeking some form of financial stability, some persons more than others. You may find that an individual could be barely making ends meet and by shearing examples of how persons have overcome similar situation helped to encourage your readers. One does not need to claim to be financial Guru, by just shearing your experience you can attract readers who become fans because of your words of encouragement as your testimonies become a light in their dark and a comfort to their hearts.

2. Health topics are mostly centered around Factual research and keeping up with latest and most innovative trends. There are many ways to approach health topics eg: One may decide to focus on particular area weather its diet and exercised or hygienic health, traditional medicine, herbal choices

3. Relationships can be about friendships, Family, professional and intimate, again you do not have to be an expert but sharing experiences and life goals attract readers.

For me if you are curious about to do that thing, just think first what you should really do. Just look first those thing that have a good outcome and if you finally decide about what thing you will do and go for it. Just follow what your heart wants.

This is unfortunate for me because I am not sure I am qualified, as I have mentioned above, to write about these topics. I could write a relationship blog to young men about how not to make the mistakes with others that I did when I was growing up. However, I know better than to try my hand at a Wealth blog because i depend on professionals to manage my money when I am doing anything more complicated than balancing my checkbook, lol. I don't know if I would ever hit "GURU" level in any of these three topics, but I think I could at least hit the level of "Educated Consultant".

That's not really a matter of skill as it is a matter of convenience @JoeMilford. We live in a time now where you can pay people to do you taxes, manage your investments, etc. Granted, most people still have skills when it comes to practical things like cooking or replacing a light bulb, but this current society is designed to make things like paying bills or ordering items convenient by placing an expert or a bit of automation, into the picture to assist you in most if not all of the task.

At present I would have to say a book about:
1.Food - Street Food in particular is Hot right now.

2.Cryptocurrency - Bitcoin in particular

3.The Holidays - gift suggestions.

Don't you think health is a good topic for an ebook ? There are a lot of fat or unhealthy people out there that would love a health ebook.

I would agree that Personal Finance is a great topic since most people will be searching on books about reaching financial freedom.

I also think books about Self improvement are in great demand. The third topic should be about fiction because it will inspire creativity which is a very healthy stimulation for the brain.

I strongly agree on Health Topics because in my opinion its likely to be popular and very enticing to read. In my point of view food and tech are two examples that is a very good topic on Ebooks. But of course it all differs on the readers interest.
