What Is Your Favorite Kind Of Blog to Read and Frequent And Why?

I frequent several different types of blogs, and I know we all have different tastes in content, but I was curious--what is your favorite type of blog to visit or blog content to explore? Feel free to mention more than one type of content. Personally, for example, I like literary blogs, cooking blogs, and blogs about science--I could get more specific, but hopefully, this gets us started on this thread.

Well, considering the fact that I am totally addicted to Cinema any sub-niche that is associated with this world has my attention almost immediately. Those are the types of blogs that I visit religiously because it is in them that I always feel very at ease. What Is Your Favorite Kind Of Blog to Read and Frequent And Why?

I am with you on this one. I definitely love going to the movies, and I do so every chance I get. I also like blogs about series that I can stream, such as Stranger Things and Preacher. It's cool to get perspectives from others, regarding cinema, as long as you can avoid spoiler alerts. I recently read one which didn't have a spoiler warning, and it ruined Alien: Covenant for me to an extent. Still, I have learned a lot about movies from these types of blogs, and I always enjoy them, for the most part.

What I find most interesting in following the blogs about cinema is precisely the different perceptions of people about what I'm watching. I like to be making comparisons about the points of view as well as perceiving aspects that I hadn't seen previously.

I like blogs about life, relationships, family and women. I like things that inspire me and I find the natural aspect of life to be inspiring. I like reading other people's life experiences so I can learn and understand about my current situation. I like blogs that give women tips on how to dress, shop, raise children, go through something and how to live gracefully.

I think that this is very interesting, and you seem like you would be a natural-born student of sociology. I also like blogs like this, to an extent, unless they get too "preachy" about how I am supposed to live my life or about how people that I know should be behaving, etc. Reading about the life experience's of others can most definitely be inspiring; I agree. My girlfriend loves the same types of blogs that you do as well, and she often gets tons of ideas regarding makeup, fashion, and hairstyles from such places. I am a bit wary about taking relationship advice from blogs, but I am still curious about how others handle similar life situations which I have been in before.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mildredtabitha
Sociology? You have given me an idea though I never thought of it. For example, my current favorite blog is starlight baby blog. I learn new things from posts there and I will definitely depend on advices there when I need it.

I would also not follow relationship advice since every relationship is different.

Funny enough I love this type of blogs too, they are always fun and it gets you going on whatever challenges you have on ground, they always have so many interesting topics that takes your mind.

I will recommend you to download the Flipboard app from Google PlayStore, there are so many topics and discussion there and you have a slot for your own magazines, try it out you will enjoy your stay there.

I am glad we have the same taste in blogs. That makes the two of us.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will download the Flipboard app and enjoy it too. Does it operate with data on? I will appreciate if you share a link to it but I will still search for it before first January.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It does operate with data but you won't mind, because you will get to learn a lot from it and it keeps you more informed about things, I have never tried it out website basis just as an app. You are going to love it there, like I said go on playstore to download the app(flipboard).

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
After your post, I went on over and checked out https://flipboard.com/. I am considering downloading the app, but I will most likely just use it on my laptop here while I am working at home. I can already see how I will be able find many cool ideas for writing and blogs by reading things at this site, and the variety of topics there is huge. Thanks for sharing this with us.

I am glad you like it there, there are lot of things to explore and get you more enlightened, in my free time that's what I do to get inspirations and informations about what next to write about.

Thanks for trying it out, I really appreciate, you will do just perfect and awesome, happy surfing on flipboard.

Thanks again. I installed today and signed in with my Twitter account. I love the platform and the flexibility of choosing what section to read about especially women's news and science. This will be better than reading a book lol.

Happy new year in advance.

We both have the same preference of blogs to always visit. I would also like to add baby blogs, and the reason why I love making use of these kinds of blogs is because of the priceless information and education available in contents on the platform. How to deal with life, understanding in relationships, baby caring and parenting etc. All these are always going to make me stick with such blogs for the unforeseeable future.

It would probably have to be gaming blogs, to be honest. I read them quite frequently because gaming is something I am really quite passionate about because of how much I love to game. Plus I actually own a gaming site/blog so it helps to keep up with the latest news which I can then share with the users of my site to ensure they also known and are up to date with everything happening in the gaming world.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
What a smart move you took by following up on gaming blogs. One good thing about doing so is that you can get ideas for your blog as well which is quite awesome.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard,
I once frequented these gaming blogs myself, but my visits tapered off as I had to slowly taper off my gaming habits. I was a bit of a gaming addict for a while, actually, so I needed to really discipline myself--especially since I work from home. I can tell you this, as I am sure you know--if you take a break from gaming for five minutes, it's like getting five years behind, right? Anyway, I hope your gaming site/blog is going well--if only I had time to game instead of just trying to survive the "game of life" itself lately!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DarthHazard
Yeah, gaming can be quite addictive especially if you can't control yourself. Luckily, I'm not addicted that much which means I can stay away from gaming if I wanted to. I do agree with what you said, if you don't play games for a little while, it will actually feel like you haven't played forever which is awful haha. Thank you for the kind words although I have actually stopped with the site and decided to sell it as I wanted to go down a different route.

Nice. I also read gaming or eSports blogs, and I even video blogs if there's available. I am so much interested in games since I am a video game player. Aside from gaming, I read blogs and aside gaming blogs I also read some political blogs because I am into political issues too. Haha.

It's great to see another avid gamer over here. What types of games do you like to play and what platforms are you playing games on as well? I'm quite addicted to both Fortnite Battle Royale and Far Cry 5 at the moment, which I play on the PlayStation 4.

My favorite blogs or websites to visit in no particular order are horror movie websites, movie websites, wrestling websites, NBA websites, NFL websites, art and design websites, freelancer websites, and shopping websites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
Just curious, but what is your favorite movie blog, especially in terms of horror? Like you, I am really into horror films, and I especially like the more psychological thriller types of horror films. I love a good story, and I like horror films that could easily work as a good short story or novel. Cinema blogs and sites are a lot of fun to frequent. I don't frequent health blogs, either, as I saw you mentioned below. I do visit freelance websites a lot, so, basically, you and I have a lot of similar tastes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My favorite horror blogs are broken down into different levels. In terms of indie horror blogs I like iHorror, bleeding critic, horrorfreak news, emerald gore society and alienbee. In terms of more corporate sites I like HorrorMovies.ca (Canadian) and Bloody Disgusting (US). For mostly general cinema news I visit Variety, THR (The hollywood reporter) and ComingSoon.net.

Shopping sites are great too and I have to admit that I've been looking for an online reliable site where I can shop as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I wouldn't really consider shopping sites as blogs because they are two different things. Shopping sites are actual websites where you can buy items unless you mean blogs that review different products when you talk about "shopping sites".

You have much of it ????????, if you are told to pick one amongst them which one would you pick? As for me I frequently visit cooking blogs, mystery blogs, parenthood blogs and freelancing blogs.

If I am to pick which one I prefer I will choose cooking blogs over all though am a junk lover, I hardly cook but when I do it must be perfect especially formulating your own
food recipes.

I enjoy reading health blogs for it open my eyes to the things of nature and how to go about with it. I've enjoyed visiting blogs that discusses about babies and pregnant women in the past.

I normally avoid health blogs unless I am legitimately sick or ill and need a home remedy or something. But like 6 years ago I had a weird throat issue that I needed to google for info and a remedy. Health blogs came in handy then.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Avoiding them might be fine, but I read them just to get enough information about pregnant women and babies and how to handle series of health issues. It's no big to visit them regularly.

Normally I am not really a fan of reading health blogs because I'm not too interested aside from a few specific topics and a lot of the time I just get paranoid about the potential ailments and types of foods and activities I should be avoiding. However, I do agree that reading this topic is way more useful than what I actually read frequently which is just entertainment news.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I love health blogs too, they keep me informed about the everyday humanity health challenges, they always give vivid description about the symptoms/treatment / what to expect from the sick patient. Sometimes with the way I draft a proper analysis of someones ill health, they call me 'Doctor' I carry myself with so much pride, they never know that it is just health blogs I read lol.

I enjoy reading health and fashion blogs and I have to admit that I have learned many things from those blogs. Health blogs are very popular nowadays. People are continuously looking for ways to keep themselves fit. Moreover, there are many natural remedies which are available on those blogs which may help you to cure minor ailments at home.

I'm actually very into health blogs myself. I think it is important to stay up to date with all the latest health facts, and one of the best ways to do so is through reading the works of passionate bloggers. It can be a bit of a slippery slope though. A lot of blogs can be useful when trying to stay up to date with health and fitness, but many of them also try to sell their own agendas and push many useless health trends just to remain popular and relevant.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I also read health blogs but I am more interested in blogs for earning online money. I am unemployed for almost three months so I am in need of money. I find ways to earn money on the internet so I usually search for blogs on how to earn online money. I am just trying all the suggested sites in blogs but unfortunately others have some investment needed and I don't like investing online.

I don't really have any specific topic I like coming back to, I guess. As long as the articles are well written and they are laid out in such a way that is attractive to me, then I will naturally gravitate to them. I would say that a better measure for me is the style of writing, as I usually find dry sense of humor and sarcastic writing to be most appealing, and also even if the article is just straightforward then I prefer it to be brief and concise most of the time or at least well structured.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am also a big fan of humorous blogs too. Life is tough, and being able to have a good laugh or to find something silly or uplifting at times is a must. Sometimes, I can can take myself a bit too seriously, and so can some of the bloggers I know, so it is good to switch things up a bit with funny memes, content, videos, vlogs, or channels. I have to be careful when I look at these though because I can totally lose track of time and watch these for hours.

I guess anything that interest me. It could be about health, lifestyle, games, crimes or current issues. My thoughts and opinions actually vary on the topic at hand. Also, it depends on my knowledge about a certain topic. I can say more if I know more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's all about interest for one cannot follow up on a blog which the person has no interest on. It's nice to read that health blogs are one of those that interest you as well.

I also just read whatever I'm in the mood for. There was a time when my interests were a lot more limited so I kept reading from the same blogs or the same types or topics of blogs but these days my interests have diversified a bit and I've also fallen out of love of many other topics I used to hold dear so these days I just seek out whatever I feel like on that day. This might also be because it's way easier to do this now since there's a lot more content for all topics and also searching for them has become so much easier.

I like when I find a really cool blog by accident--when I am surfing the web, every now and then I will come across a blog that I have never heard of or by chance, and the next thing I know, I am really totally enjoying the content! If the blog is really good, this is almost like finding a lost treasure or something. It seems like there are 100;s of blogs out there about every subject, so I think there is something out there for everyone, I am sure.

True! But I find that variety can also be a con. I'm somewhat overwhelmed by all the great content in the web. Sometimes I wish I could just have it be simplified. I guess that's the price for having so many talented content creators.

I LOVE to read blogs about Linux, Computers, Servers, and forum management. Because it has always been a hope of mine to have a very successful website and every time I had something good going my personal finances killed it off. This time I am filled with knowledge and I can manage my own server and save a ton of money.

P.S. I was running a VPS until I learned about Semi-Dedicated hosting is is more or less like a VPS. Its a really big hosting account that only has around 50 people on the server.

I read all sorts of blogs but my favorite genre by far would have to be the technology related ones. It can be anything from the computers, newer gadgets, new tips and tricks, etc. I just find that the most fun to read because I also learn new things. It's sort of educational yet entertaining which is hard to come by.

Besides that, I also quite enjoy certain funny or cooking blogs. But I have very specific sense of humor that is more on the sarcastic/ironic side.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that if I were more tech-savvy that I could really get into reading such blogs; however, my brain tends to turn into a bag of pretzels when I try to digest a lot of the vocabulary and tech-speech at these blogs, so I end up having to go and do my homework in order to figure out what in the heck is going on or being discussed. I love funny blogs to, like you, and I like cooking blogs so much that, as you know, I think, I even created a forum thread about them, lol.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Haha, I can completely understand where you are coming from. Some technology related blogs can use quite hard to understand vocabulary but I think that some can be more beginner friendly.

Perhaps try those since they won't take you an hour to understand what they're even trying to talk about!

These days I pretty much just watch videos to get whatever information I want but for technology I still like going to blogs as a supplement because there you could look at charts and tables and you can study them and compare them for a long time which is something you don't get to do just watching videos. I think it's one of the topics where I like reading as well as watching videos instead of just preferring to watch.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JoeMilford
Baburra,
I like your post here, and I think you are really referring to our different preferences in how we like to acquire information. I like static data, like charts and hard numbers, and I also like well-written prose which explains or interprets the data further. I also indulge in watching videos related to the written subject matter which I peruse or encounter too. Having the written content is good because, like you said, you can study it as it just "sits" there--that's a bit different than trying to keep pace with videos and having to pause them at times and re-watch portions of them in order to digest their content.

What I do love to read are the blogs that are about travel and food. I love to read all the things about a certain destination that the blogger experienced especially with all of the native cuisines that are so good to know that represents other cultures by their delicious dishes. It feels like I've also been there whenever I read those kinds of blogs and it feels so great. Even I haven't go to that place, at least I know lots of things about that place so when the time comes, I know what to do.

I used to frequent a lot of travel blogs myself as well. Actually, I think that, at one point, I quit looking at them so much because I got so jealous of how broke I was and how I could not travel wherever I like because I am so broke! I did live vicariously, like you, through these blogs, though, and I have learned a lot about foreign cultures and foreign cuisine because of travel blogs, especially the more thoughtful and well-written ones.

I frequently visit cooking blogs too, that's how I learnt how to cook because I never had the paitence to watch my mom do it, back then I considered cooking very stressful to do but ever since my first encounter with cooking blogs that notion changed.

I love going through parenthood blogs too, maybe because I am going to be a mother someday and maybe because I fancy kids and happy homes, parenthood blogs gives you so much insight about kids, pregnancies, family lifestyles and so many more I won't be forced to learn them the difficult way when I become one.

I also love food blogs and blogs about home that includes cooking and gardening. It's like seeing your home, that's my feeling when I read about pets inside the house or cooking the favorite dish. However, sometimes I find such DIY blogs that are difficult to understand.

I honestly never cared much for food blogs, but something in me has changed recently. Perhaps it's just me getting older, but I've taken a greater interest in cooking, and food blogs have helped a lot in fueling the fire for my newfound hobby.

I used to cook just to get things out of the way and eat. I would choose instant foods over homemade stuff because it was quicker and easier. But trying to be health conscious, I started throwing out instant foods and learning how to cook their homemade versions. Thanks to many bloggers and their tried and tested recipes, I've had a lot of success.

Wow this is a hard one, because I like to check on different topics. For sure music and movies are a must. Also, health and traveling blogs. But traveling will be a 100% sure topic. If I could do anything day by day would be traveling. I love to see new places, taste new flavors, learn new languages, and obviously make new friends. Not to mention I laugh a lot, when I remember every time I did something wrong, or say something weird, when I'm in another country. Traveling is what I'm going to take with me in time, things doesn't matter, what really matter is the experience.

I think that, for me personally, I do not frequent technology blogs because of some sort of insecurity or un-easiness I have towards them because I feel so non tech-savvy. Ironically, though, frequenting tech blogs would most likely help me to inform myself and therefore alleviate this issue, I would assume. My relationship to technology is so function-based, and so I do not usually go for looking up information about any extras or fancy apps or gadgets. I am a simpleton and minimalist when it comes to this, I think.

I haven't thought about mystery blogs before, for some reason, but I am a big fan of the genre--could you suggest some of those blogs for me? What are some good ones? I could see how that could be a successful blog because you could set it up having each blog entry end on a cliffhanger to keep the readers always coming back. I would think that if you could hook the audience with the crime or murder at the first blog, then they would keep coming back until the mystery was solved in the following blogs, right?
