Creating a network in social media

When I first created my Facebook account, my intention was just to learn about it and I had no inkling that I would be this active in social media. When I started gaining friends, that was the time that I was into forums. And then it dawned on me that if I have many active friends in social media then perhaps I can seek their help in my online work. Like when I published a blog, those social media connections can click to like my blog even if they wouldn't read it but better if they would leave a comment. In short, the social media account can be of good use if you are freelancing. That's why I try to post every day and I also react on the posts of my friends just to let them know that I am active for now. And when the time comes that I need their help then it would be easy to ask a favor from them.

I agree with you fully on that social media is a very powerful tool in getting a lot of followers. It's not easy mind you, to develop your social media account has no shortcuts, you have to spend alot of time developing it, but it is worth it,

That's true. It involves tons of work. And positive attitudes as well. Like patience and perseverance. We won't always get what we want. But enough effort, we can build our path towards achieving our goal.

Yes, social media is a good way to earn your market or network. It is a good way to spread news. It is simple but it is powerful.

You are right, I agree with you. At first that was also my purpose. I just read, share, etc. in my account. When I learned about extra money online, things has changed for me. I want to use now Facebook as place where I could send my referral links.

Definitely, social media is a big part of anything online today, and you have to be able to utilize it well in order to achieve more with your freelance work. Just be careful not to annoy your real life friends when you post a lot on your social media profile.

I do not think that it's ever going to be possible to please all your friends with how you live your life and what you post online. It's just a matter of time till someone blows up in your face but what matters is trying to be on a rational state with anything you post online, so that even when the unbearable ones come at you, there will many people ready to fight and defend you.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

treecko142
Yeah, it still matters to have a good personality and relationship with your friends who will support what you do for a living. And if you aren't provoking anyone in social media, then they have no right to be mad at you.

That's why people tends to have different accounts on social media, one for their personal use with family and friends, and the other one for business only. Personally, I'm not a fan of social media, it brings a lot of annoying comments and social pressure. But if we talk about business, social media is a must right now, is what is moving masses of people, and that will take your company to another level.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree, social media is a must in business. It's a great way to advertise a product without spending at all. But like you said personal topics must be considered by a user because one's social media enters your personal life your privacy is affected.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

treecko142
Yeah, I don't use my personal account much, mainly just for messaging my real-life friends and I don't really post anything on my account. But it just has so many uses for any business that it should definitely be utilized by every company out there looking to increase their visibility.

I can relate. Posts can be sensitive for some people. They just don't like getting news feeds of unnecessary stuff. Like arbitrary selfies and stuff like that. Well, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Just be aware of your actions and prepare yourself for the consequences.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

treecko142
Yeah, and I'll admit that I'm one of those who really hates seeing unnecessary stuff on my news feed, especially posts screaming for attention. But in my case, I don't confront the person, I just unfollow them, lol.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ballyhara
Haha, honestly I've done it too. More than unfollow them, I've blocked people, so that way I don't get any news about them, like when they post new pictures, recent status, and all that unnecessary issues I don't care about. That's the bad side of social media networks, dealing with all those annoying day by day comments and information.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

treecko142
yeah, I want to block them too sometimes, but some of them are colleagues or former classmates who may message me sometime in the near future and find out that I blocked them, so I just unfollow to not totally burn bridges.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Chinet23
I've done the same. Instead of confronting the person I just let them be and leave them alone. That's what the unfollow button is for. There are just some things which are too much to take but you don't want to create too much fuss about them.

Yes, you are on point. Social media is part of the daily lives of almost every people in the world. Hence, you should not keep on repeating posts which will annoy your friends. Annoying someone is a negative point for you as you will lose a potential customer.

Most people are using social media and binding it on every day tasks. One can really take advantage the power of social media in creating a network and one would definitely benefit in it being the most widely used online platforms out there. It could reach a wide range of users or people depending on the target market and you could get genuine feedback from the masses. It's the best weighing scale if one is trying to start a product or service that needs a true and absolute comments or suggestions.

Well said i couldn't agree more, social media is the most complete tool out there online. It all ends up to your strategy and management. It's good because your success is still within your work approach.

True! And most people are hooked up on different social media platforms like the popular ones which is Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. All of these social media platforms are being updated by users from what's trending and what not. All has really something to say to anything and contribute to one hot topic or not and there are popular companies and personalities that use these social medias for promotion.

Having a large social media network has a lot of uses and can be very beneficial and advantageous to some people. A large Social Media Network can produce power, prestige, popularity, authority, income and other things. That's why social media is a great tool.

I think trying to build up credit for social network friends to "do you a favor" is really doing things the hard way. Life is much easier if you cultivate a network of people who will be genuinely interested in your content. So they will be grateful when you tell them about it rather than feel like looking at it is an unpleasant chore they might do if they feel they owe it to you. On this basis your personal networks and your professional networks will often operate of different accounts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You have a very good point about this topic. There are over 2 billion users on Facebook alone, if you fail to target the needed audience for your posts and articles, it will be like putting a round peg in a square hole. It's never going to be effective and shall never yield any good results.

Social network has become a very powerful tool to connect with people. Although there are a lot of social media platform, I am currently into Facebook and Instagram. With Facebook, I was able to communicate and get update with not just recent friends but even friends from way back primary school. It is no longer difficult to even for our family who are in different places to get news about their lives. As for Instagram, here is where I try to be creative in posting photos. It serves like a diary as well of good snaps I was able to take of places, things, food and people.

Initially, I only saw the social media as just a medium of connecting with friends from all parts of the world without seeing the business advantage attached to such connections because having access to thousands of people online makes it easier to market one's business products and services online and have increased sales that knows no boundaries.

"Initially, I only saw the social media as just a medium of connecting with friends from all parts of the world without seeing the business advantage attached to such connections..."

I think that most people felt this way when social media originally made it onto the scene. Social media got its start with sites like MySpace and Facebook, which were originally intended to simply connect friends and family on a single platform.

Then, I remember slowly seeing more and more commercials on television ending with phrases like "Like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter," and at that point I knew that there was some sort of business aspect to social media. A lot of businesses slowly got onto the social media bandwagon, and it's been an absolute must ever since.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Exactly. Nobody ever believed that what we have today in how the social media have influenced businesses would be as we see it to be today. It's increasingly incredible because with thousands if not millions of people who are waiting to be grasped online and channeled into one's business as clients is what makes social media a drilling machine for business marketing success.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Not to mention that social media is a good way to advertise to a consumer base that you've already established. Back in the days when all we had was television commercials, you might be a fan of some sort of product or company, but unless you happened to stumble upon a commercial, you wouldn't know that they've released something new. These days, if you've liked someone on Facebook or followed them on Twitter, you're up to date with absolutely everything that's going on. It's both amazing and frightening, considering how much it fuels our obsessions with consumerism.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Haha, I'm sure that companies are the entity that are enjoying most from the expansion of social media in all works of human life. It's true just what you mentioned about getting to know about new products through TV commercials back in those days and now Twitter or Facebook, we all get constant bombardment of new products.

I think that most people working online would tell you that an active social media presence is pretty crucial when it comes to finding work, sending traffic to your personal website, and just generally networking and establishing a potential client base. These days you really are nothing unless you're active on some form of social media platform, which I suppose can be both good and bad depending on how tech savvy you are and how much time you're willing to invest into creating likable, shareable social media content.

It takes a certain kind of mind and perspective to really know what sells on social media.

Social media is a great way to reach the audience you're trying to target. But it really takes time to build some connections there.
It's a whole other project.
I too only thought of social media as a way to connect and reach your friends and family, but now I am seriously thinking of using it to grow my business.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Using it to build the business is going to take a whole of time to make it possible. This is because you have to start convincing the users through your writings of different things that you feel should make them click on your sites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Anything good will take time! You can't grow a business overnight. It will take time for people to be convinced, but they will be, eventually, if your content is worth it.

The social media is more like a give and take as you get to notice that as long as you are writing good contents on it on a daily basis, many people will want to like your posts to show that they are always there for you. The thing is that when you have a blog for anything that you are into, more people will want to read your contents since you are already friends with them on social media.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree. Blogs act like online public journals. People can read our thoughts on what's happening around us. Stuff that wouldn't be accessible if it weren't for the digital age.

Social Media can be an important and effective tool in advertising and marketing and for your campaigns to be effective you need to develop a good network. This takes time, for example in Facebook and YouTube you need a minimum of 2 years to have a good network and a successful site.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, that's true. Youtube is also the dominant website in the internet. It used to look a bit dated. But as time went by, it got more prevalent in the lives of people. I think more people nowadays spend time watching Youtube than Cable TV.

I have the same experience and social media is a really powerful tool. I have a page that i'm working on for quite sometime now and the network of friends really helps in increasing my audience, There are times that my post is intermittent but the network just works for me even when i'm not active.

Yes, that is primary reason for social media nowadays-- to interconnect people around the globe. That is also why I am very thankful that there are different social media platforms available for free for the people. It does not only gives you an opportunity to gain more friends but also it also helps you for your personal needs like asking for help to your business or to your online work like leaving a feedback or reaction even just for a moment. Social media nowadays build a different interactions to every users.

I have two Facebook,Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram accounts. I have one social account and one business account for each social media. This is because I find that when you are trying to market yourself or your product it's better to do it professionally. Your friends don't really take you that seriously and in most cases they can only buy so many of your products. It's also not fair on your friendship to keep asking for their help, so my business account is for any potential customers.

That's a good way to separate business and personal activities online. It really doesn't matter how many accounts you have just as long that you can manage it. Taking advantage of social media's potential also comes with responsibility.

One way of getting friends and setting up a network that can be later used as a sales funnel is by creating a Facebook Group and a Facebook Page. Although nowadays FB Groups are more useful in building a network since a group has a common interest.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
Another good way of building your social media network is by joining all the niche groups you're interested in and posting relevant posts in it. Doing this people would recognized you and would send you friend requests and may add you to other relevant groups.

Good to hear that you are taking advantage of your social media network in a good way. You have to be visible so you have to keep posting and establish rapport with them. I was told before that as much as possible do not be vocal with your political and religious views. You should always be neutral or you may offend their sensibilities and lose friends online.
Almost everyone has Facebook and you can have more prospects within your reach. It's a good platform for connections.

When I created my Facebook account I was clueless. But I got yelled at by somebody. Though she was rude, she schooled me. I figured out how to navigate. Facebook also sent me a few messages about sending friend requests to people I did not know. I thought it funny because I was responding to invites from people I didn't know. So I'm thinking: Did they get a warning too?

Anyway! Fast forward. It only took me about 7 years to get the hang of it. In the process though I learned how to beef up my profile, create Facebook pages, join groups, make my own group, etc. It's been fun and rewarding. Also made a lot of new friends.

Facebook gave me courage. I went to create accounts on Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Instagram. Who's afraid of social media? Not me! LOL.

Social media is too powerful tool in networking. Its so easy to connect with people especially your friends and loved ones. I created so many accounts in Facebook that even today I don't know the passwords. Today I only choose two accounts. One is for almost everybody. I have 1,500 friends in that account. The other is for my closest friends and family only.

Social media is really a great platform to showcase yourself. You can easily attract so many people just by creating inviting content on it. It is also very simple and less time consuming to communicate with them. It is a good place if you just started to make a name by yourself. Just add many friends and eventually words will go out about you instantly. In these platforms, you can be an influencer where you can ask your friends or followers to support you on your endeavors.

Since not all your friends will have the same interests as you, it's important to also go a step further and join groups (on social media) that are related to your niche. Here you are likely to make meet more people who are interested in what your blog is about. When it comes to blog promotion they could be the people who might actually help you get more traffic should they share your posts or maybe link to your article from their blogs or forums.

That's why it is always important to, ALL THE TIME, create content that offers significant value to the audience it targets. It will get shared numerous times and you'll get lots of backlinks.

There are lots of tools you can use to create a network for your social media followers. Reddit is a place where people of the same interest gather and exchange ideas. I've seen Youtubers have a dedicated reddit page where the followers converse. The youtube comment section is too toxic for the creators to read. At least with Reddit, only the die hard fans are conversing, not trolls.

Exactly there are so many things social media can do for you specially if you are starting something and you want people to see it and get to know if this will click on their taste. Your first customer will be there for you and thats going to be your family and relatives. They're be the one to start liking your post and comments as well. And this can spread on their feed and can seen by their friends too.

I must admit I'm pretty active in social media and I have a good following as well. However, I joined Facebook and other networking sites in order to connect with friends and family. However, I also use social media sites as a platform for promoting my blog and websites. Social media sites are great for posting articles that I have written online.

I see a lot of pages that have hundreds of thousands of likes. I hope that one day I'll be able to reach that too.

I have to separate Facebook accounts/pinterest/Instagram accounts.I like to separate business from friends and family. I let my friends and family account grow organically and I actually put time into growing the business account. Most people complain their social media accounts don't help them to sell anything. I must say that I agree with this because your friends and family may not be interested in what you are selling. Better to grow an audience/network in your niche.

Yes you are right, having lots of friends and followers on your Social media accounts is definitely very useful for any freelancer. One has to be very active on Facebook , Twitter and Instagram every day if he wants to retain the number of his followers and also add some more. Once you have a considerable amount of followers you can always use it to your advantage in various ways.Social Media platforms are slowly but surely talking the place of all the conventional methods of marketing and communication.
