Sharing your blog on social media

Which social media platform do you find generates the most likes and views when you blog? I use wordpress 'Publicize' and recently added tumblr, and found I had a very fast click rate. More people were sharing and reblogging on tumblr and I ended up with more followers than usual.

I always liked Facebook but since they have made it more commercial, it's been harder to get likes and views. Twitter I find is only good for images as people have a short attention span there on their feed, so you need a good image to go with an article.

I'd be interested in how people have found the social media platforms of late since they have tightened up some of the sharing rules, such as Facebook you can't share on a profile page now, only a Facebook page.

For me the best social media to share your blog is Tumblr, I've tried sharing my page in Tumblr and I noticed how it grows. I also shared it in Facebook, it adds up some audience but not as fast and many as the Tumblr did.

Maybe for sharing blogs, Tumblr might seem to be the best for the task because of the way the social media site is set up and operated.

Lots of bloggers are making use of the site Tumblr for promoting their blog and all of their work. It is a very good option to market one's blog.

Tumbler is a bloggers platform and if your a blogger it's best to tap other sites which have fewer competition. I'm using Facebook and it's a good platform to tap.

I noticed that as well. I think it's okay to try your luck on Tumblr. It's a nice site not just for bloggers. Who knows? Maybe it could help improve your traffic since many people go there.

Thanks for your comment. I thought that Facebook is the best social media site in sharing blogs. Thanks for teaching me to use Tumblr.

Well for me Facebook is really the best site to share your blogs, because it has the numbers, I mean it has a billion plus users, what site could be better that that?

I honestly haven't seen any blogs being promoted on Tumblr in my time there. Most of the posts I see are from teenage girls reposting movie quotes that they relate to. I guess I'm just not that into social media in general.

I feel you my friend. I only use social media for a limited time during the day and when I do I am bombarded with some rather useless posts. I like to limit the content I take in and social meda can be a huge time waster if not controlled.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's true. Tumblr is also famous for leisurely posts about fandoms and pop culture. So it's not entirely about our target content. But the people there are open to reading blogs and stuff. You just have to be kind and friendly.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think it is always great to try out new things and platforms for sharing content but when we get a niche that we really do well in there is no reason not to perfect our craft there.

It actually depends on the community that you are following. There are a lot of bloggers in tumblr that shares their work in that social media.

Are personal diaries also considered as a blog? If so, there are many on Tumblr. I've read so many posts of teenage girls (anonymous of course) ranting about their daily lives. I can see the appeal as people can relate to these situations.

This is true. The key point is relevance. There are a lot of community in Tumblr and we just have to find a community that relates to your content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
So true. But it's a matter of perspective. Lots of good content are only visible to those who know where to look. That's why following bloggers gives you an update on what they've been up to.

I just find that general Google results lead to the ones you're talking about. Teenagers re-sharing silly content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I like Tumblr too. It's very successful for the masses. So anyone can see your relevant posts and links to your blog. It's also funny how more people prefer it over other platforms. It could be the way it's designed.

True and you'll meet a lot of people woth the same hobbies and a lot of blogger there.

Yes, you're right. It's a place for meeting different individuals that share the same interest as you. You might get lucky and gain some followers there. It's easy since lots of people there are friendly.

Oh that's surprising to me, I really thought Facebook generates a lot of views, shares and likes than any other websites. Tumblr really in my country isn't so well knowned, so that's surprising to me.

Hope you can try it soon. It seems like a great way to find and gain new followers. Lots of users visit Tumblr from time to time. So it's more likely for them to find your blog there. All it takes is one click and they'll find your site.

I havent tried Tumblr myself. I usually share my blog on facebook and I would admit that it is a bit slow to get readers. I guess I should try out Tumblr. Is it easier to use than other flatforms?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jaybee19
Same. I haven't tried Tumblr as well but because of this I will definitely consider try to outlet there soon. And yes, I do agree with the slow response on Facebook nowadays. There's just too much competition going there and big companies are the major leads because they can pay a lot of money on their advertisements while us small ones can't keep up. Also, most Facebook users nowadays are more interested in to memes than blog articles and etc.

I have not yet explored Tumblr yet. But looking at its site, this may be the next big thing after Facebook. I have just started a blog and I would like to take your recommendations to use Tumblr to promote my site.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tumblr is good but I don't seriously think it can rival Facebook in any way whatsoever because the society and even the world in general have embraced Facebook without holding back. Even with all the security problems, data issues and hacks trolling the site, it's still the most popular and used.

It seems like people here have positive comments and optimism about the power that tumblr has and its effects in the time to come. I think that any marketer or content creator ought to take advantage and create an account which will help in making a stronger footing early enough.

I have just started Tumblr a few weeks ago. I could already see a notable rise in numbers of sales and views in my site. It is worth advertising there. The key is to find a relevant community to your content or vice versa.

Have not tried Tumblr as well. Currently using Wordpress for blogs but wasn't really active so I haven't checked the visits. Might try and move to Tumblr should I find time to take blogging more seriously.

I still use wordpress, but what I do is share on tumblr. It does take a bit of work as sometimes the title doesn't appear on tumblr, so I log in and edit it in. It still beats cutting and pasting an article onto tumblr.

The beauty of tumblr is that you can reblog instantly and the original source is always credited, and people like to reblog and they comment by making notes. The important thing is to get the right tags, and people do like images as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mdayrit
I actually uploaded my first blog in Blogger.com and just tried uploading the same at Wordpress because I find it easier to customize. With the same content and tags, I noticed that I got more views and reactions from my post in Wordpress. That is why my second blog was posted there. But even if I get views and reactions from Wordpress, I still don't think it is a good way to market my content. I have heard of Tumblr even before but don't know why I forgot to try it out.

Facebook would be my favorite when it comes to sharing my blog online on social media sites because Facebook seems to be the most popular and used social media sites in the world today which have over 2 billion users and still increasing on daily basis. I also have my blog linked to my whatsapp status, some of my friends visit my blog using the link.

I blog very well last year until I became very busy lately so my blog stopped functioning but I will give you are few tips on the social media platforms that helped my blog:

1)Whatsapp: I was in almost 300 groups on whatsapp both locally and internationally, where ever I see a group like i immediately click it to see for myself and also ask the admin for permission to post my links.

2) Google Plus : I searched for everything related to my niche on Google Plus and it paid well for me because I was generating more traffic there.

People are not getting to understand how efficient the Whatsapp social media is going to help them sell some of the things that they want to sell especially as it regards their blogs. I have seen people keep making whole lots of money via this medium and that is something that I always believe that we can use to our advantage when we have blogs to market to the people.

I really never thought Whatsapp can be a social media app where we can promote our blog or even sell stuffs. I thought it's just for audio or text chatting. Thank you for sharing this great idea, especially Whatsapp is very popular in my country. I think those competitors might be good platform for us to share and sell as well, such as WeChat, LinkedIn, LINE, etc. Perhaps it's also good to look into them as well.

I also think Google Plus works well for me. But I am not too sure about Tumblr, as I haven't really explore into it yet. Though I have tried sharing my blog posts in Tumblr as well, it doesn't seem to work very well for me. Perhaps I need to learn how to use it better.

Even if you get just a few readers from social media since it is a universal site that has all kinds of people, it is still good to promote your blog in Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks because that post about your blog is one way of connecting to people. Just be sure that your blog is well-written so that new visitors can get to appreciate what you have written. When I was promoting my blog about dogs, I was surprised that there were so many dog lovers among my friends in Facebook. Even with our video in Youtube about dogs, those friends who are dog lovers are viewing whatever video I will promote.

Taking time to make the contents look great to read is a major factor in getting people to like what you are sharing on those social media accounts. It is going to take time, but once they start checking out your posts, then you are half way to getting some tangible traffic to your site using those means.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Quality content goes viral more than anything, you may attract more people when you share more quality content always, it breaks readers back to your page and make them spend more time there.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That sounds try true especially when you have that talent of making good contents. I have noticed that some of the social media users don't have those places that they can get to read some important trending news and bringing it to them on social media is a good way to direct them to your page.

Another thing that kills blogger is their refusal to create a new content instead they will just copy from a very influential blog and post in their own blog and still expect more traffic when those big blogger are ready to pay google to promote their content. I think originality also makes readers return because you are the master of your niche.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you 100%. Originality attracts readers, who finally become regular visitors, followers or buyers via your link. Reading the same content over and over again sounds boring. Originality comes with some humor.

I've done more than try to promote my blog on Facebook, Twitter and a couple of other social media sites. The results were rather disappointing.

I have many "friends" on Facebook and over 100 followers on twitter. On my best day, referral traffic from both sites was less than 30 visitors. However it was twitter which sent more than half of that traffic. That's despite the fact that my tweets were seen by only a few people.

Though I haven't used tumblr to promote my blog yet, since you guys say your experiences have been positive I'm going to try it real soon.

One morning I woke up and found my article had been reblogged about 40 times on tumblr, and some of those went on to reblog it. I don't think it harms, but I will say posting directly to tumblr can be a pain as the formatting isn't that good, but it's good for links, and images.

You'll be surprised that some tumblr posters don't go anywhere else as they like the platform and stick to it. I would advise always to go back and see how it's been formatted if you do share a post and edit if necessary, such as adding an image that may not show up, or a title (it's odd, sometimes a title does show up and other times it doesn't). A title is very important as if you don't use one, it won't show up in a search.

My niche at the moment is fashion. So I use Pinterest and Instagram. I'm still learning however for now I have managed to grow my traffic, using both options. Off course it's not as high as it could be, but I'm working on it. I have heard alot about Tumbir and will be sure to try it out.I also don't use Facebook because it has become too commercial.Twitter I find is better for short discussions and not blogs or images.

Linking to your blog on Instagram is my favorite platform. It gives potential readers the chance to visually connect with a post of yours, and then follow a link in your Instagram bio to get to your blog. I think if you market yourself correctly on there, it can really result in website views.

You can have a maximum of 5,000 friends in Facebook. With that number, even half of it will be dynamic and active on your posts then it is a good avenue to promote your interest. I also think that Facebook is more potent in marketing because the connection there is more personal than Twitter which is more of a message platform while Facebook is a network that promotes relationship particularly friendly relations.

Finally! Somebody mentioned Tumblr!! There are so many ways to share your blog. Tumblr is one of the easiest ways. The cool thing about Tumblr is that you can link your Tumblr to your Facebook and/or Twitter. When you share via Tumblr you can also share via Facebook and Twitter as well.

Or you can just share via Facebook and Twitter without linking it to Tumblr.

You can also easily share your blog via LinkedIn, Pinterest, We Heart It, Instagram, and Flipboard.

The only social media network that you can't share is Google Plus because it's closing down.

Build your network but share your blog even though you don't have a lot of followers and use appropriate hashtags with your share so that when people do generic or general searches your social share might show up in the search results.

I didn't know that about google+ but I never found it very useful to be honest. It helped with SEO and that's about it and verifying your site and choosing a name took me hours to do. There was a lot of back and forth, and verifying here and there, and it in hindsight wasn't worth it, but I did it for the SEO and to secure my username.

I do find Instagram is taking off more where people like and image and then click on a link in the bio to read more. This is what I do for reviews, an image and then a link to read more.

I just had to add this. It's important that those who primarily use Facebook to promote their blogs know it.
Facebook has some algorithm that determines the ordering of posts on your friends newsfeeds to show them what is most relevant to them.

You'll need to know the kinds of things or more specifically topics your friends like in order to create content that FB will think they'll and if they do click "like" then they'll see more of your posts in their newsfeed.

Maybe there is some "post optimization" bloggers promoting their blogs on FB should now learn.

I think Facebook is the platform that may generate most likes and views when you blog. Since this social media platform is widely-used and people tend to spend most of their time using it, gaining audience won't be a problem. I think sharing your blog on Tumblr would generate the most number of clicks and the widest reach. The people in Tumblr tend to be more interested in blog content since it is first and foremost a blogging site, as compared to those in Facebook (a multifaceted social networking site) or Twitter (microblogging).
