What annoys you most with some writers in forum posting?

What annoys you most with some writers in forum posting?

Every forum have rules and regulations that guides and directs how things should be done on the site but just like the old saying that goes like this - " In any gathering of 12 people, there will always be a Judas", which means that there will always be those who would knowingly disregard the forum rules and regulations on its modus operandi by posting as they please.

Among all the disregard of forums shown by some writers with how they post on some forums, the one gets me so annoyed is double posting. I have seen some cases where a particular writer would post the same thing twice on more than one occasion.

What attracted me to forums is the exchange of ideas over a subject of interest. I guess what annoys me a little with some writers in the forums is when they don't really add up to the flow. Instead of following up on the idea, they seem to be just repeating what others say. Sometimes even copy-pasting. It would have been better if they could have spoken from personal experience. At least they would know first-hand what they were talking about and that would add to the flow of information.

True, it's such a shame that some people don't really care about the effects of what they do on forums with their posting affects the general quality and image of the platform.

Personally, with the way I see some things, it's not really a must that one would have to drop a comment on every content. When you lack something good to offer on a particular subject, skip it and find one that you can offer something meaningful.

I respect all my forum mates. I am not annoyed by their posts. I learn from them also.

You are so kind to give this kind of comment. It is good to know that someone is not irritated with other writers. Despite all the imperfections that writers do and that might include me, you still manage to respect them and prefer to learn.

Thanks for your comment to me. I agree with you. I believe that the keyword is respect for each other so that you will not be irritated or annoyed by others.

Copy pasting? That is serious. It is good to have your own personal views. After all it is you who should give your own opinion. Why should you wait for others to give you what to copy paste? It is not a good idea.

I agree with you that such people are annoying. What can we do with them?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The very sad thing is that there is no way of possibly ending the act of copying and pasting when it comes to forum posting and content publishing.

Some freelance writers are so lazy that they can't think for one second with their head and figure out something new to to write.

It annoys me when I read something that is not good, and it really makes me feel sad when I'm reading those kind of stuff.

Irreverent comments are worthless because they offer nothing useful to the the forum or members using the platform for one reason or another.

When a comment offers no reasonable information that would have something to teach to anyone who reads it makes such comments poison to the site.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The same is true with me. It annoys me when I read something that is not good also. Sometimes I also smile with others.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, I have some reserved portion for bad writers because I know that not everyone can be a very good writer.

What I look out for is whether the writer is trying to make any sense with whatever that he or she is writing about.

I think the most annoying thing that often occurs in Forum postings and discussions is how some of the members post irrelevant comments which have no relation to the subject that is being discussed. Another thing is that some of the members will initially speak about the subject for some time and then suddenly go off a tangent and speak about a completely different subject and then others follow that person and it completely changes the course of the discussion.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Seriously, this is a very big problem to forum posting. It's purely regarded as spamming the forum because it's just dumping useless and irrelevant information in the forum which does not add any positive impact or benefits to the site and even in Google ranking as well.

I understand forum posting is a paid gig for nearly everyone here, and I understand it doesn't pay a whole lot, but it still drives me crazy when people make posts and obviously don't put any effort into them. Can't you have some respect for the owners of the forum and at least try with your comments? For instance, when they're just a couple sentences that never arrive at a solid point. This person who double posts that gets on your nerves, I understand your annoyance. It kills me to see the same person posting again and again in the same threads (obviously just to cash in their daily post limit) and saying the exact same thing (or a slight variation) post after post.

People who post but never make an actual point grind my gears too. Like, I feel like I wasted my time reading what they wrote when they don't arrive at a solid conclusion. I've gotten pretty good about skimming over comments when I'm pretty sure I won't gain anything of interest from them during my time here.

My two cents.

"..... People who post but never make an actual point grind my gears too... "

It's so annoying getting to waste so much time reading one long comment whereby the writer is simply beating about the bush without nailing any single point in the entire discussion.

I have seen so many comments as such even here in SEOClerks and what I normally do is mark the poster and never bother wasting my time reading his comments on any topic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think that in most cases the double posting is not done on purpose. I think sometimes especially if your internet connection is not stable it is easy for you to think that you post has not posted and press the reply button again. Anyway good forums warn you if you do this. For me the most annoying thing is trying to figure out a comment that does not make sense. Reading comments by people who can't express their points the right way. But I guess the more they post the more they will learn how to communicate their points across in a better way.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Reading comments by people who can't express their points the right way.

This is something I agree with very, very much. I can tell a lot of people who post here don't speak english as their first language, which is fine, but it's still obvious when they don't put effort into actually developing content.

There are those who put in obvious effort, however! Corzhens is a fantastic example of someone who tries their absolute best when commenting. I know their first language isn't english, and they've said their main goal is to improve their english by posting here (which I can tell they've improved on throughout the year I've been posting alongside them). Their posts are typically well-written, thoughtful, and actually have content which I really appreciate -- and respect!

I enjoy these forums, but I find it most disappointing that there aren't many users I can hold a legitimate, wholesome discussion with.

"... double posting is not done on purpose... "

I'm sorry but I beg to differ with you on this. I have come to witness so many posting that are even done 3x in some forum and it can never be argued that such posting isn't done on purpose.

I do understand that there some cases where the double posting would be as a result of internet connection issues.

I don’t like when it seems like people are deliberately seeking out arguments. We all know that people often hide behind an online persona and I’ve seen some really mean exchanges online! Thankfully I don’t recall seeing anything awful on this site but some people out there in the internet world can be super nasty.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

"..... people are deliberately seeking out arguments.... "

Well, in my opinion as long as the arguments have a good base and is discussed in a healthy manner without any kind of swear and curse words, it's perfectly acceptable to me.

It's when some people tend to get into their arguments in a nasty way just like you mentioned would be when it goes completely against the principles of any forum relationship.

In as much as I deem it despicable to post one particular comment twice or even more because I have seen it on some forums, I still totally hate 2 lines comments or reply. My question is what meaningful can one express in just one or two lines? This is absolute laziness to offer something good to the forum.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. I also hate 2 lines comments. I mean, I appreciate their reply but it doesn't make sense. How come they could even deliver or express their ideas about the topic by just a 2 lines comment. 2 lines comment are just a way to say that they commented on it but what they said helped nothing about the topic. I hope they could maximize the freedom for them to say what's on their mind about the topic and on the same interact with the people in the forum.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
Seriously, the 2 lines comments are very annoying no matter from the angle its being looked at. Now, from my observations with 99% of two lines post or comments, most of them are in form of appreciation post to the topic writer for writing a good article.

Yes, it's good to appreciate someone's work but nothing stops the person showing appreciation from adding his or her opinion with respect to the issue discussed. It's just that most of them are carefree with how they behave in some forums. I have seen some forums that set up strict rules against appreciation comments.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I'd always prefer someone write a two line useful reply though, than a rambling response that doesn't really address anything over several paragraphs. Sometimes two lines is all that's needed to get a message across, in which case does it really need to be longer? Sometimes I'll start reading a response and it's clear someone is just looking for "bulk" to fluff up their responses with but it doesn't actually make any new points - seems like it's just designed to look like a long response. Those annoy me way more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I definitely agree with you. A short comment doesn't mean that it is useless or not helpful. As long as it is informative and direct to the point then that is good. I see some of the long and unclear posts that don't make any sense. We should not write just for the sake of writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
I kind of agree with you on this about writing a two lines that is a useful information and not an appreciation post. It's when the two doesn't have anything good to offer as an upgrade or update to the already information on ground that I deem it irrelevant and hopeless comment.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
What annoys me the most is when some people post just to show that they are into the subject eventhough they didn't even add up to the forum. They are likely to rewrite other people's ideas. Also, I can easily get annoyed when there is someone whom I can't fully understand his comment because of his poor grammar. It is like a puzzle that I have to decipher to get what he really wants to deliver.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
I can understand poor grammar because most times, it's not everyone online that English language is their mother tongue. So, as long as such people try their very best to make sense with their write up, it does not bother me. But trying to always recopy what others have written without adding more value to their comments is an insult to the original writer.

I consider forum to be a platform for users to exchange ideas. It is supposed to be a decent discussion level that members should be aware of respect for the other party. What I hate most is an arrogant comment about something that he thinks is not right. I have experienced that in one forum where the comment I received was about the potato not being true as I claimed it to be. It's just sad that it was the admin and he later deleted my post for that reason. I thought the forum is an exchange of ideas so why be violent when you read a post that you think is not factual? You can at least point it out so that your correction will be added knowledge to us. Again, a forum is an exchange of ideas and not an encyclopedia to contain only facts.

I was annoyed of those people who don't take others opinion. Those people who only matters in them are the reasoning they have. If you are going to join a forum you should always learn to accept others opinion. That is called respect.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Love this. It's true. You don't have to agree with everyone's opinions, but trying to understand where they're coming from with a mindset of respect and tolerance is a big thing. If the world as a whole operated more like that it'd be nice!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have come to understand that in life there are always that particular set of people who have this ego and believe that they are all knowing in everything and as a result of being that all knowing, every other person's opinion is beneath theirs which is 100% wrong.

No tree can make a forest, if somebody's imagination gives such individual the impression he or she is well above others that are in the same online community with them, then I would suggest it's high time they exited the forum and stay on their own with their all knowing opinions. This behavior or attitude is very disgusting.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes I agree with you, I have encountered before some members who really don't respect the opinion of others which is really annoying. They don't give importance on the opinion of others as long as they are sharing their opinions which should not really be the case. Sometimes we should learn how to respect and accept the opinion of others to make a good relationship with others.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

superlicca
What annoys me is when a writer does not respect other's opinion. I understand the fact that everyone has his/her opinion. But you can contradict others in the most polite way. In a way that you don't offend other writers. You can have an Indirect disagreement just by saying your own opinion. Or you can say " I understand your point but here is my point of view...". We just need to choose the right words for a friendly conversation.

There are some people who have the habit of always trying to lord themselves and their opinions over other people, with the perception that they are far superior to any other person who participates in any online platforms they found themselves.

Normally, I don't even care to exchange any opinion or discussion with such people because their ego is not something that I can handle.

I get annoyed by the people who tend to make comments that are based on romours or are not clearly researched yet they do not clarify to others that they have posted some unverified information. There are people who take the information as gospel truth and as such are misled.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes this is also what annoys me because some people make some comments or post to some forums which are only based on hearsay and don't have much credible facts to justify once information. As much as possible, we should be responsible in every comments or post that we will make because it can trigger other people to have a false belief because what we write is sometimes what other people do that is why we should be careful about it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes try to always verify what you write especially when it is a serious discussion. You may never know what another person will go and do with the information that you give out and we have to be responsible for what we tell others.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

In every rumor, there is always the possibility of truth being part of such rumors. So, most times I don't easily discard all comments that are based on rumors.

I have seen some rumors that eventually turned out to be true, so some rumors aren't so bad to hear and discuss it.

Double posting does not bother me much as I usually think it is a fault either of the software used for the site or a user thinking a post did not go through. What annoys me are silly one word answers or those that show no thought at all has been given to the subject talked about. "Nice post," "Thank you for sharing;" that sort of thing or where there is a deliberate attempt to flame or impose an opinion. I can tolerate some poor grammar if the poster is not English, but these days when you can use Grammarly in the browser and so on, there is no excuse for most of us. Poorly researched posts are also a problem. So are those that scare-monger. A warning is one thing. Getting people hyped up over nothing is another. The other thing I find annoying is where a question is asked because it will somehow make money for the poster rather than adding to the good of the site. Both are fine but only where the message board or site is enhanced by the post.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

beerthooyah
I agree with that. It usually happens to me on some of the forums which I really do not intend to do so. Im looking for a way to delete or edit the post but unfortunately I cannot do so because there might be problem with the site or software whatsover. But I am sorry if I get to annoy some users on this forum.

I actually don't have any issues with any writers from forums where I'm a member at. However, there are things that some writers do that annoys me a little but I don't call them out about it because I just want to have a harmonious relationship with all the members. The thing that annoys me a little is when they post without proof-reading their articles or their comments for any possible mistakes like typos or grammar errors.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Copy cats are just cancers to freelance writing and forum posting and it's going to be very difficult to end the activities of copy cats.

Most times when I see some of my original topics copied, rewritten and posted in other forums, I would just laugh and say it's good to give blank heads some idea on what to post.

It really annoys me when I'm reading bad comments or bad feedbacks from the writers, because it really makes me sad from it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is not always good to get bad feedback from people about anything that we are doing. It is not going to make one happy, however, we should always use this as a yardstick to improve on the way that we do things and not keep having bad feelings towards how they react.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Martinsx1
On giving feedback, people would give their own feedback based on their experience with the site or forum. There is no way of getting everyone to have the same feedback, so I don't really make any case about bad feedback. If the feedback is true, I would suggest getting the issue addressed.

I think a post without any sense or meat in it's content is the one that annoys me the most. This are the "I agree with your statement", "Thank you for the tips" etc. Like people who read forum threads get to read that in the process of formulating what he/she wants to say and I think that's just a waste of time reading those posts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I don’t mind the “thanks for the tips” posts as long as there are some additional questions or points made. If it’s literally just something like “thanks for the tips” that’s pretty redundant and it’s even worse if it’s on a forum that you’re paid to post on. At that point it just becomes a clear grab for easy cash doesn’t it?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Some of the forum writers don't always create time to read the question first and this I where the problem always come up from. I don't really understand what people will always benefit by trying to focus on not reading the discussion that is going on in a forum before posting as that is a sign that you are not always ready to do the right things to keep the forum alive and kicking.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Corzhens
That also annoys me when the reply to the post is out of line that obviously the user did not read the original post in full. But I'm not saying that they may be doing that on purpose because I know of some people who I call "quick to the draw" because when I give them instructions, they would hastily act even without hearing the last word of the instruction. With a forum, it is always healthy when the posts and comments are relevant, engaging and with substance.

I enjoy forum posting and I usually don't get annoyed by other posters. In fact, I've met some interesting personalities by participating in forums.

The Spin Poster

I've started a couple threads here in Wordclerks and I was pleased with the reactions and posts by the members. I do read them all and I appreciate the diversity of answers. However, one poster caught my attention for the wrong reason. He/she obviously used an article rewriter to spin other members' comments and posted the spun content as his/her own. It is just too obvious! I'm no fan of article rewriting apps. It was just shocking because we're supposed to be writers and this person can't even make an original comment?!

The Hijacker

This poster is one who steals the glory from the thread starter by reacting to all the comments like it was his/her thread. Gosh, you can just smell the motive for this dastardly deed! Please read the forum rules.

The Fluffy Poster

Oh, this is a poster who thinks there is virtue in drowning your real answer with worthless words. Whenever I see this poster's avatar, I know I can expect fluff and I was never disappointed.

The Universal Poster

This is the type of poster whose posts are usually "universal", meaning, his posts can be copy-pasted to any other thread or forum without losing their original relevance level (they were never truly relevant in the first place).

I do not really get annoyed by what other posters do but yes I have seen the different kinds of posters mentioned in the comments. The most common that I have seen are posters who would just say yes I agree without even giving their opinion on why they do. It is ok to say you agree on something but at least give your own opinion on why and not just state what the original poster/ commenter have mentioned.

I get annoyed at posters that don't have a clue about what they are saying, but I just choose to block or scroll down. With forums you will always find those who want to use it as a platform for their beliefs, and don't want a discussion which is the point of a forum. Therefore, if anyone challenges or questions them, they get aggressive.

I was on one forum and a chap was asking for thoughts on a subject, but each answer he nullified. In the end I said, 'you don't really want advice', to which he then admitted he only posted the topic to provoke others. Those kind of forum posters annoy me when they post to get a rise out of others and have no wish to engage in discussion, but to pontificate.

The question asked in forums should be short and to the point to sometimes when there is a whole commentary people don't read it or by the time they finish reading it, they have forgotten what the commentary is about and they start to make irrelevant comments. A form is about healthy debate. If we all had the same pinions then it would be boring .A forum is about different points of view sentence . You have to learn to defend your points of view if you make them. Those who are offended because someone does not agree with them, I have no words for you. I love a healthy debate.

I don't really get annoyed by the posters in forums, as I understand everyone has their reasons to join the forum. But I really don't like reading those posts that are offensive and not respecting others. Though forum is a place where we can share any relevant information and express our opinions, I still think we need to respect others and not offend anyone. Usually I'll just ignore those posts and also those posters, and move on to those posts that I can learn from. I prefer to feel comfortable when I am participating in a forum, if a forum is full of offensive contents or arguments among the members, then I'll choose to leave as it's not a place I'd like to stay.

Forums like this deserve to have a decent and relevant comments as they pay us with right amount of points. We, as the commentor of some forums should pay respect to the owner who pay for us. It's unfair knowing that others put a lot of effort just to share their ideas with correct amount of details and yet others only write two lines or one line comment. Its also better to understand the topic as it might get irrelevant if you don't get the question or don't really understand the question for the sake of earning. It can offend the owners of the site as they give effort to pay for us so its better to give them a good feedback by commenting a good and decent amount of details and information that will also help others.
