What is your favorite Christmas Greetings?

It's Christmas Time again and even though it's quite an old tradition, it's the only time of year when I send some snail mail.  I love sending Christmas Cards and it's a long time family tradition. But instead of sending them via mail I would hire a motorized messenger for a day to deliver it to the recipients home with a box of fruit cake or cookies which they could have on their table come Christmas Eve for the whole family to enjoy.  It's a surprise and it's cheaper than giving them gifts.  And they'll always remember to get me a good gift.  HoHoHo.

The Christmas greetings is only one. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. In my hometown, they say . Haki nuria. Which literally means why not eat. It calls for celebration.

Haki nuria. There are no holidays without celebration. We have to eat. One problem is that we eat and forget January will come with its requests. I love the people who begin planning for Christmas in March or earlier. They reach there when they are ready.

That's funny. It's nice that people there also celebrate the time for feast and good cheer. I like how we're all having a merry time during Christmas. The best part is we get to see our loved ones.

Yes, it is a season that makes everyone jolly, I even know a non-believers who still celebrate Christmas because it's fun.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

We can only hope that it'll somehow inspire them to share in the faith little by little. I feel like non-believers are more open to learning more about God during Christmas. It's a great time to celebrate healing and miracles.

Yes, it's cute and funny. We can actually find out how people say their unique greetings from all around the world. In the past, we only get to read about them in books. But now, we can simply visit YouTube to learn more about how different cultures celebrate the holidays.

I like that. Our family really likes anime and other japanese movie. So after greeting everybody Merry Christmas we always shout in chorus Itadakimasu which means thank you for the food.

That’s such a sweet idea to deliver cake or cookies to your loved ones - definitely memorable! Makes me want to do something similar for the important people in my life, I think it would make them all feel really special!

I think so too. It's kind of a sad truth. We do special things for the people we love most. So if we're not giving it our best effort, then it probably says something about us or how we feel towards them.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
I started doing it when I got married, I would bake batches of butter cookies, peanut butter cookies and chocolate chip cookies and put them into jars which I bought in the mall, then I'll tie a ribbon and along with a Christmas card I'll give it to relatives, close friends and neighbors and they would reciprocate with a lot of gifts come Christmas time. I usually deliver it on the 23rd or in the morning of the 24th.

Christmas gift cards are an excellent idea, don't know how I didn't think of it previously. It's both cheap and a very warm way to say that you care. Do you write each card individually or apply a special unique text always?

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I used to feel nothing when I hear that. But there was a time, I can't remember what year it was, I was crying at midnight exactly new year. I can't remember why I was crying but someone told me that "If I started the year crying and sad, I would be sad for the whole year." Ever since that, I finally got to enjoy the greeting and had positivity every Christmas and New Year.

My favorite greetings for Christmas is Merry Christmas because these are the common words that we usually hear to some people in our place. I find it to be simple yet very pleasant to ears because the message is really cool and great. I think that we can hear many greetings from other people this Christmas but then those lines were the only messages that amaze me and makes my interest.

Greeting merry Christmas with gifts that would be my favorite but I am contented with the saying Merry Christmas as long as it comes from the heart. It gives me joy and happiness when someone wants to greet you with a Christmas greetings.

I like what you said that the important thing is that the greeting comes from the heart. I think that's very true -- it makes it more personal and sincere if someone really means the words they are saying. I always feel like someone truly cares when they give a Christmas greeting that shows they put their heart into it.

For us, we just say "Merry Christmas!" and give close relatives and friends a basket of fruits or sweet treats for them to enjoy. I don't hire a courier service to send our small gifts but we schedule it and I'll take my family along for a visit. It's a nice way to spend Christmas. We utilize the Holiday to see family or friends we rarely get to see because of busy working schedules. After all, isn't that what Christmas is about? What is your favorite Christmas Greetings?

Well personally as I don't celebrate Christmas I simply greet people with have a good holiday and have a blessed day.
Christmas is a great and warm holiday, I'm glad people are still celebrating it. But myself, I don't celebrate any holiday, so I try to be neutral to all this. It's important you help people maintain happy spirit during the holiday with a nice, soft and warm greeting.

I don't give any special written cards or messages to any of my friends. I send text message during the day of Christmas. I hug my family and greet them with Merry Christmas. I also cook and bake during this occasions to share blessings. It will be a great and happy time of the year. I am fond of watching kids destroying the miniature Christmas village. Their parents are yelling at them not to touch. I like looking at their faces delighted with joy watching the toys display. The expression are priceless.

Greeting them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year is classic and timeless. But recreating your greetings and making an effort for it are truly exceptional. I used to make Christmas greetings for my family and friends with a Bible verse and some inspiring words.

That's so nice of you to give them a unique way of greetings for Christmas. I don't usually do something special for Christmas. What I do is to greet them early in the morning and if I have money for gifts, I'll definitely buy one for them. But if not, maybe greeting cards would be enough just to spread love around.

For a second I thought you wrote that people call you on Christmas in order to get something from you, like: "hi there Josh, give me few grands for Christmas, oh, and, by the way, Merry Christmas!".
Made me giggle.

Using Merry Christmas is still in fashion although my usual greeting is "may you have a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year." I like to emphasize the word prosperous instead of happy new year because it means something. Having a happy year is not really attainable and for me it doesn't make sense at all. With prosperity it is what we are wishing for so let it be.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Prosperity is a lovely thing to wish upon people for the start to their new year! I think for many of us, having a prosperous year is something we all hope for. Like you said, it's nice for Christmas wishes to be unique and to have some meaning behind them and I think your wishes certainly achieve that.

We normally receive Christmas Greeting but what I love the most is receiving a heartwarming "I love you" which I don't get on normal days because it's too cheesy. For me Christmas is not just expressing love with gifts but also with words which are better than material things. We should always remember to say everything we want to say to our loved ones because we don't know how long they'll stay or how long we'll stay.

Indeed. A simple Merry Christmas via text message holds more value to me than anything else. I don't care if they don't give me anything, and it's better actually as I don't have to be obligated to provide them with anything back as well. LOL

I’ve never really done anything that fancy for my Christmas greetings. The only thing I try to do is keep things traditional and send actual mail as opposed to sending emails or text messages. Digital messages feel so impersonal and I feel like the person might just shrug off my holiday wishes because they’re on a screen.

Instead, every year I pick out some really nice cards, and I write a personalized message inside and mail it to them. It’s nice visiting someone and seeing a card you mailed them displayed on their living room mantle.

Let us first answer "What is the meaning of Christmas? Why do we really celebrate Christmas time?"
Christmas time is remembering the birth of the Savior, Jesus Christ. It was because of His birth that Salvation of Man became possible. This was the time that God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ into the world to manifest Himself to us and show His great unconditional love for us. Jesus Christ's primary reason of birth was to save man from his sins and from eternal damnation in hell. If you will receive Jesus Christ as your God and Personal Savior, you will have eternal life in heaven. You will be saved from your sins. And it is only because of God's Saving Grace. It is only because of Jesus Christ's Redemptive work on the cross that you can be saved, not of yourself, not of good works, not any religion. That's what the Bible clearly says.

Matthew 1:22-23
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

"The best way to greet a person during Christmas time is not by just saying "Merry Christmas". It's not about giving food and gifts but it's about sharing to the person the reason for the season - The birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior. The salvation of his or her soul is the best gift you can give to a person ever."
