Do you consider yourself as a good writer or an expert writer?

Hi everyone. I'm just curious if anybody here thinks of himself or herself as a good writer or even an expert writer at this point? What do you think makes one a good writer? What tips can you share on how to improve one's writing skills and produce a more interesting and creative content that will catch attention?

I just consider myself as a good writer. I hope I could be an expert writer someday. I want to develop my writing skill through reading great books.

It makes two of us. I may term myself a creative person but not an expert writer. You agree with me some of us will be doomed without grams and spelling mistakes. We just struggle to become experts

I like the term that you used so if I may, I would like to borrow it. I too, would consider myself as a creative writer at this point. At this point I am able to engage a certain amount of readers which is very satisfying but we still do strive for more. I may have a lot of ideas but I do not have the repertoire of skills to put them into reality.

That's okay. Writing is all about continuous growth. The more you write, the better you become at it. All you have to do is stay consistent.

Me too. Though I know Ive been giving so much effort to my work. There's still something that missing. I don't really know what that but I guess I'm not the one to judge.

I don't like to blow my trumpet it better a client or customer tells me how good I am. But by my own standard and the way I assess myself I think I'm very good but I still welcome criticism because it help me be a better writer. Writing well just needs continous practice,if we can do this often then we can do better with time.

That's a good thing that you are still open for criticism. I have known some people who closed their ears and minds when some concerned people try to offer some suggestions for him to develop more of his writing skills. I appreciate people like you who are still encourage and appreciate other people's comments and take it as a challenge to improve more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

stbrians
Some writers who take this stance often develop till they become experts. They are open to criticism and do not fear.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Wenkx03
I agree with that. I guess a good writer should be open to criticism. Though sometimes its hard to accept it. But in the end making mistake is just a part of learning.

Yes, it's the thing with writing. I've read that those who become experts somehow limit themselves in terms of learning. Because once you consider yourself to be an expert, you won't be as open to other people's feedback.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. When you already consider yourself as an expert, it will be hard to accept other people's suggestions and criticism because you already have pride for yourself. It will be better that eventhough you are now an expert, you should still accept suggestions from other people and make it as your inspiration to be better.

I have written for more than 20 years now but that has not made me an expert. I still write on and do not complain. Am good then

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Wow! That's certainly an achievement. I guess it's okay to be mediocre when it comes to writing. It really is up to us on how much we're willing to strive in order to improve our writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's really a personal preference. A lot of us just don't want unnecessary attention to ourselves. It's always difficult to say that we're any good. People are quick to react negatively to anyone who says so.

And the most interesting fact is that the best writers don't even say it. They usually either smile or avoid answering the question altogether. It's rare to find someone who's as good as they say they are.

For now, I can consider myself as a work in progress. I love writing that ever since I was a child, I started to write short stories and research. I cannot say that I'm an expert writer but I think I write good enough but there are still more rooms to fill in for improvement. What I could suggest is that, to continue learning and discovering more things about yourself. On that way, you can unlock your best potential and strengths that you can use for your success. Especially, write with your heart. Always keep in mind that only those people who loves what they are doing succeeds with their chosen track.

Yes, I agree with you. It is always best to write from the heart. This will give more confidence and good flow of stories. Plus, it will be very interesting to write something that we know best. Trying and pushing ourselves beyond our limit will surely a good factor to know our worth. No one will ever succeed without trying.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
Well, pushing some to write is like teaching a fish to climb a tree. Best content will come out from a dedicated mind of a person. With that, we will never find writing as a job but a hobby instead.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Jelineex
Well, no one knows our ability and capacity without trying it. Everything starts from one single step. It doesn't matter if one fails but what matter is the effort you on put into. I understand that writing is a talent and it's not everyone has. I still find it a good way to push ourselves to try something new. To see whether we're good or not. It is always our choice.

Working smart is the key to success. Practice makes perfect. We learn to write better by writing, reading, studying. It is a skill we can develop further than we are now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You're right. There's a study that proved working on something consistently was more effective than trying to perfect it in one try. Giving yourself room for mistake helps improve your skills.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I totally agree on this. It will be hard to make a perfect output in just one try. You would have to learn first from your mistakes in order to be better tha you are yesterday.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think so too. Our writing shines whenever we're sure of what we talk about. It's this confidence that elevates our word choice. We're free to explore the boundaries of what lies ahead. Especially, in creative storytelling.

We should be open to learning. We should learn writing better by reading and writing

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I feel like we're all like that. We're constantly improving ourselves along with our writing. It reminds me of life. There's no limit to how much we can grow. I guess that's what makes writing so great.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree the that you just have to keep on going. There is and there would always be room for improvement and as writer we should always discover and uncover the talents in mastering our craft. Along the way we would find the style that we could polish over and over so that we may consider ourselves as experts in the near future.

I haven't consider myself as a good writer. However, I am improving my ability and capacity. I felt I still have to read and learn. I need to practice writing in order to have organize ideas. Sometimes, I have so many thoughts that I can't put into writings. I need to be patient and determined to pursue any desires.

My problem lies in sentence construction. I seem not I get the proper syntax. Maybe I need to go to school.

I don't consider myself nor good, nor expert, nor professional. But I do write with passion and try to improve my skills all the time. Perhaps others think I'm good, as I never judge myself. Do you consider yourself as a good writer or an expert writer?

I don't consider myself a good nor expert writer as of the moment. I know there's a lot more things to be learned. I need to improve my vocabulary as well as my reading and writing skills. However, I enjoy every moment of being a writer and I will reach my goal one step at a time.

The secret behind the best writer ever lies in enjoying your work. When you enjoy what you do is when you improve and become an expert. You wi become one soon.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I enjoy writing. If I become an expert through the writings is the better. Yet as long as people read and understand what I write the better.

That's great. I actually think that there's no more evident way of knowing that you're a great writer than having a continuous growth of readers. This just means that you've been great with what you write.

I've been writing for several years now and I think, that qualifies me to be an expert. Haha. Seriously, I can't consider myself one, nor even a good writer. Because if I am then I would be very rich having written several Bestsellers by now.

I love writing ever since I was a kid I always enjoy doing essays and writing an article, but to consider my self as an expert writer? I still have a long way to go. Right now I am practicing my grammar so that do more quality writings! Expert writers for me are people who are considered as professional writers who are earning a lot just by are writing. I hope someday that I to can be an expert level writer.

All i know is that i love to write and express my views and opinions through my writing. I dont think that it will be appropriate for me to think that i am an excellent writer or an expert in the field. I dont have much experience as a professional writer. I would say that i am a novice who is trying to learn and polish his skills when it comes to the field of professional writing.

I don't consider myself good nor an expert. I still have a lot of things to learn regarding writing, and if ever you will ask me to rate myself out of ten, I would say I'm still a three. The critical factor in being a good writer I guess is by reading a lot and trying your best to figure out what elements do good writers do include in their works.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I can say that I'm a relatively mediocre writer. I don't want to say that I'm good. I'd rather let my writing speak for itself. Because truly good writers need not say that they're amazing. All they have to do is write. The readers themselves can decide on that.

Just maybe a good writer, I can easily express myself writing things and I feel like my grammar and punctuation are not that bad but are not on an expert level, there's still a room for improvement but it's achievable that's one of my goals, to be an expert writer someday.

After 3 years of freelancing work, I still consider myself an amateur writer with a big room for improvement. But in my heart I know that I am a good writer because as I had said in another discussion, I treat my writing as a masterpiece all the time. It is like I am joining a contest when I write that I put not only my mind but also my heart into it. When someone would say I write good then I get elated but when I hear bad comments then I just shrug my shoulders.

I know how to write but I not that great writer. I write based on experience and based on observation and I know I have a lot to learn and improve myself to be called an expert writer.

I am just a good writer who is working out ways to be one of the best that we have out there. While this move is not something that is pretty easy for me to achieve, I believe that I can fully make it to work out as long as I am looking at the ways that I can push ahead for it to happen. Being a writer is a process that I should be calm while following in order for me to improve.

I believe that having bigger dreams push you through the limits and helps you improve and better in different aspects. Your goal will not be easy, but it is achievable with you passion and attitude. You can do it.

I think that I am just considering myself as a good writer since I know I still have a lot of things to know when it comes to writing activities. I am just writing on my own whenever I feel to do so and I think it would really takes a lot of time to say to my self that I am already an expert writer since it is not just as easy as what we think of.

Whether someone can be classed as good writer or not would vary from person to person depending on the sort of writing style they like. Anyone who writes differently wouldn't be considered a good writer.

For me, a great writer is someone who can explain complex concepts in the simplest terms. Anyone who reads what they write will "get" what the writer is trying to convey. Good writers are just a level behind great writers.

That said, yes I'm good at writing stories and hope that one I can write articles just as well.

I consider myself as a writer. Good or expert is up to my readers. I'm passionate about my writing, I'm passionate about my work and I'm a writer. That's it. I don't think I need to label myself about it because the world is doing that enough for me Do you consider yourself as a good writer or an expert writer?)

I was glad to know that I continuously improving my vocabulary and writing skills. However, that doesn't make me consider myself as a good or excellent writer. There's a lot of factors to be considered before you can be a good writer and if ever I achieved those factors, I will still not consider myself a good writer. I don't want to have an "I have arrived syndrome"

Depends on the topic really! I predominantly write about travel and for those topics when I’m writing about personal experiences then I am an expert. Ask me to write on a topic outside my comfort zone though and that’s a whole different story!

I don't consider myself an expert writer and I have never met anyone who considers themselves an expert writer, even writers that have written for years never consider themselves experts. I think that writing is a craft. The only thing that I can compare it to, is knowledge. You never have enough knowledge you are always learning. Even if you learn everything about writing there is always new things to learn. Remember new words are added to the dictionary every year I think.

Do you consider your self as a good writer or expert writer: I am not one of a kind of professional writer but I know and has an idea how to write and i do love doing it. I usually write in my vacant times if i know to my self that i need to write what is on my mind, most of the kind of writing i do is just a stories, my friend love to read my works and I am so fluttered with that. I just want to inspire and share my ideas and knowledge thru writing.

I think the greatest mark of a great writer will be the great things they have written. As the saying goes, 'It's not about what you can do, it's about what you do'. You can think of yourself a great writer, but with no work done to show for it, then it remains only a thought. Personally, I don't think of myself a good writer. I simply do my best to make the things I write as good as they can be. If it hits people the way I intended for it to, then I know I did well on that one.

I would say that I am an average writer. Though I have loved writing and reading books ever since I was college, I didn't practice it or use it for a long time as I just focused on my work for years. I would always get the urge to write but didn't indulge myself and now I regret it. I could have had many experiences in writing already had I pursued it sooner. I hope that I could be a good or even an exellent or expert writer in the near future.
