My 7 Tips to Write Killer Articles in 20 Minutes or Less!
You know, when you need content for your website, blog or newsletter or even for article marketing purposes, Web 2.0 sites etc, if you're already knowledgable in something, then you could potential write up to 10+ articles a day if it only took you about 20 minutes or less when writing them!

And when I need to write up some content articles for my site or newsletters etc, (although more for Web 2's), I don't usually like to spend any more than 20 minutes writing them! It depends on how long I want the article to be. And these days they should be long articles (1000+ words) to rank well.

I know that might sound like blasphemy to some people who can spend a lot of time (hours or even days) on writing some articles for their site. And since when it comes to Internet Marketing, it's powered by content. And content is King as they say. But it doesn't mean you have to spend a long time making great articles!

And for those that need some quick articles, that don't have time to spend on writing 2000+ word articles. When you just need to write up some articles quickly in about 20 minutes or less, here's 7 tips to write killer articles in 20 minutes or less!

Tip: This article only took me 18 minutes to write. From scratch!

1: Keep a List of Ideas
It can take up a lot of time just finding a topic to write about, right? But a list of content ideas is something you can always turn to and pick something out of it to start writing about. The best thing to do is keep a notebook or even a text file on your computer that's full of post ideas. I write these down weeks, sometimes months in advance so I don't have to do the topic finding!

2: Incubate Your Ideas
Sometimes it's best to let a post or article idea sit and incubate for a few days rather than writing about it straight away. When you do so, you'll think of new ways and things you can add into it so that when you're ready to write about it you'll already know about all the angles you cover in that article and have all the supporting information you'll need for it.

3: Stick With What You Know
I'm going to be very brutally honest here but you've probably got a ton of article ideas already and most of them aren't getting written right now. So focus on the topics for the articles that make the most sense to have on your site or use in your campaign. Remember, this is on how to write an article in 20 minutes or less not write an epic or autobiography!

4: Shoot Bullets
Bullet points when used in articles make them much easier and nicer to read when they list out main points of that article or even steps within it. Such as numbered lists, top 10's etc. And sometimes, just writing 5+ bullet points is enough to expand on them, break them down and provide you with something to actually write about! Plus on the flip side, people love reading lists!

5: Keep it Short and Sweet!
If you want to write an article in about 20 minutes or less, well you'll need to keep it fairly short. You wont need fast typing skills but that will help! But try to keep the information within it short and sweet by making sentences condensed without skimping out on quality. Try to make every word count while being informative without letting the quality of the article down.

6: Sleep on It!
Okay you don't have to actually sleep on it, but if you are having writers block then it's okay! Put the article down, save it and close it and come back to it later! Go and work on something else for a bit and then come back to it later. Have a quick read through, think about what it needs and then you'll find your writing juices are able to flow again and you'll complete it.

7: Never Put Off Great Ideas
If you've created a list of article topics to write about, it can be tempting to put off those ones you know will be really good to write about now in favor for writing about topics that will be easier to write. Don't do that! Don't put them off until last, do them first! You'll save time doing them now anyway as the rest can be done easily, quicker, later on.

Conclusion

Writing quick articles that are good articles, quickly, doesn't mean that you have to sacrifice on quality! And you don't have to be a genius wordsmith or fast typist either. All you need is a passion and to follow these quick article writing tips and you'll be well on your way to writing tons of great articles in 20 minutes or less!

I think this a good list for being able to write articles quickly. I am assuming however, that some of these list items don't necessarily count in the twenty minutes of actually writing the article. For instance, keeping a list of ideas, letting them incubate, then sleeping on it are more of pre and post article writing. I like your idea of using bullet points. They are a good way of being able to both stretch out an article, help write more quickly, yet are also very reader friendly. I know that I for one like lists or bullet points interjected appropriately into an article because it does help break up the monotony of just reading straight text. Also, it makes an easy reference to return to and find the key points.

This is very useful information for making an article for just 20 minutes. I do have difficulties for making an article and posting online because there so many factors to be considered like, correct grammar, spelling, content quality and creativity. You have to be on point and relevant.

Your tips are great (thanks for that), but I hardly see myself writing an article in less than 20 minutes, haha! I always think I can improve something and it always takes me a while before I get the final decision (maybe it's the fault of a perfectionist writing?).

I'd rather spend a little more time until I'm satisfied.

I'm glad to read your list and find that I'm already following several of the steps you have outlined. I always keep of list of topics or ideas that I'd like to write about, that way I can return to them whenever I want to start developing them. It's a great tactic, and ensures that I don't have to worry about keeping it stored in my mind, as having a physical location for all of my ideas decreases the chance I'll forget about them or lose them.

I also typically stick to what I know. I love writing about cameras, photography, and video, and I feel comfortable sticking to writing about those topics for sure.

I agree with most of you guys on the subject of ideas to write about. Anytime a golden article or editorial idea pops into your head - better jot it down before it escapes your memory during the course of the day.

List of ideas and incubating ideas. I have heard that from a popular writer here. What he exactly said was to let your ideas rest and get pregnant. That list of ideas is very important because I usually get an idea from nowhere and if I had not written it down, I would surely forget it after a minute. That’s why it’s important to have a note pad. But I am using the phone for that purpose now. It doesn’t matter if the items in my list cannot be used for now, I just compile it in a computer file for future use.

That's a very interesting post. However, I usually take hours to write an article. I just like to make sure that my work is perfect. I keep going through my content and make corrections until I am satisfied. I have been trying to get rid of this weakness but all that I can say is that it is not easy. I usually keep a list of ideas and these help me whenever I have the writer's block.

Reading through our contents after writing is needed for that is the only way we can get to make some corrections that we think is need in the work that we do.

What I always do is to read it thrice and even give to a pal close when I wrote the article to read as well in order for me to be sure that there are no places for me to develop more.

Keeping it short and simple has been my watch even as some of the people have expected me to use quite ambiguous words when I write, I don't fall into such temptation. The thing with making use of simple words is that many of your readers will get to understand the message that you are trying to pass. This is something that is not possible when we make use of large vocabulary in our wiritngs.

I agree you need to keep a list of ideas. This only works when you're writing in one niche. They are some sites that set you a time limit. You can't afford to sleep on it or come back later.I think the best way to write in the shortest time is to keep writing and time yourself to make sure that each time you write it takes a shorter time. It's also easier when you are writing in your niche. You then don't need to do much research.

RE TIP #1. These days there are lots of places where you can get ideas. I use the Firefox browser and they started something new. When I open my browser, the first thing I see are articles recommended by Pocket on a wide range of popular topics. Peruse a few of them. They are sure to stimulate your thought process. You can also use those free “idea generator” tools. Just Google “idea generator for article”.

Also, I love your TIP #6. My best writing has often been done AFTER I went to sleep. My 7 Tips to Write Killer Articles in 20 Minutes or Less!

I recently joined an online site where you have to write 400-600 words in 1 hour. This is including the research. When I first started it was really hard, but as time went by I got used to it. However this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. It is not a walk in the park.No list of ideas you have on hand will be able to help you, I can assure you. Any article you write has to be original and remember things change everyday. I hate this way of working, so much pressure.

I cannot imagine you took only 18 minutes to type all these. That is breakneck speed. I cannot be able to do this. Your ideas are worthy.

What I realized is that good posts are not how long you wrote them or how hard you edited them but how hard you thought about them. A well thought out post will go a long way than a well edited post.

Wow, 18 minutes to write the article? Amazing. Anyway, all those points are valid, but one thing should be added on that is typing speed.

Typing speed is also essential, and that's one reason why you managed to write that fast. True or false?
