Do you ove books more than e-books?

I am a person that love to read books. I read e-books too that has a topic that caught my attention. But I always wanted to make an effort to buy a physical book and read it more than just an e-book. I enjoy reading it especially if a have a hard copy of that book. I felt so fulfilled buying and having the books that I love.

Do you guys still love books in a physical way rather than e-books? E-books nowadays are rampant in store. So I wan't to know if there are some people that are like me.

I also prefer printed books because reading in the traditional way is the most comfortable and convenient for me. From what I remember, I had read a few short stories in some websites but not for the interest, just for looking around. With an e-book, I haven't experienced reading yet although I have a tablet that I can use. As I said, buying a printed book is more like it and the book can be kept in the book shelf for later reading of other people.

I would say that it is convenient to read printed books, but when the issue of being comfortable is brought up, I would say that the e-book is far better.

The truth is that I've come to enjoy reading some information on the internet and the good thing as well is that I get to enjoy those information for free unlike when I have to buy them in the market.

@Barida I also prefer reading e-books because I don't like going to a bookstore and then buying a book. I used to buy books before but now times have changed. You can just download your preferred e-book easily with the help of the internet.

Yes I agree with you eBooks now are the new trend in our modern age of technology and many people now a days are patronizing it because of the convenience and benefits that it gives to everyone. I am sure that millennial would be the one who is mostly using it since they tend to prefer those instant things that would benefit them most.

"As I said, buying a printed book is more like it and the book can be kept in the book shelf for later reading of other people."

As I posted in a comment below, I myself prefer printed books for a number of reasons. However, I never really considered the aspect of being able to put it up onto a bookshelf once you're done reading. That is definitely a good point. I think a nicely filled book shelf should be an essential part of most homes, particularly if one is fortunate enough to have a study room. It really can add to the intellectual vibes of one's home.

Me too, I prefer the smell of the book. Although I already tried to read e-books but sometimes it makes me dizzy and sometimes after reading I got headache maybe because of too much focused on text. Sometimes I borrow books from my friend because she was fond of reading books and I want to practice my self to read books in a usual way as her. So I prefer books than e-books but e-books is not hassle at all because it is just a file from phone or tablet so it is more easier to carry.

E-Books has some advantages including its easier to read for people having problems with their eyesight in reading the regular size and font of a regular book, by reading an eBook one can enlarge the size of the font to a comfortable size which one can read effectively. Also ebooks can be easily downloaded or send to any gadget like PC's, Laptops, Tablets, Smartphones and E-book Readers.

I agree, E-Books advantages are very significant to readers specially those who reads with a preferred font size, lighting, and interval reading. Also i have used a voice app which reads the book for me. This helps my eyes to rest and at the same time being able to go through the pages just by listening.

Same here, I rather read a proper printed book instead of an e-book. In my case, I get tired of reading on a tablet very easy, my eyes get red and itchy, and I have to stop. On the contrary, I can read a book for hours and hours, letters are bigger, and my eyes don't get strained. Also, I don't have to stop for reloading/charging issues with the tablet, I just grab my book and keep reading.

It's the same for me. There's just something about a physical book that makes reading much better and much more enjoyable. I guess it's because a lot of us will have been used to reading physical books from a young age so trying to enjoy a book that is in a tablet just isn't the same.

I really like printed books because it can be touched or smell the ambiance of the book unlike in e-books that it is only more on virtual image and there is no certain feeling of sense touch but only the sense of sight. Even though we are now on the modern age of technology then I still love to read some books whenever I have some time to read them.

Yeah, having e-books on your tablet or phone is convenient, but nothing beats the feeling of reading an actual book and especially the smell of a new one.

Yes I love reading books on paper than an eBook. I am used to doing it also. If you don't have a gadget like tablet that you can read eBooks means you can no longer read.

I agree, reading printed books is more comfortable than reading on a screen or a mobile phone, the radiation of screens can make you get stressed faster than reading a printed book, and as what they say we read faster on printed books rather than screen, but the thing about e-books is that some of it are free online and you can read it anywhere without having to bring a printed book, you just need a phone or a laptop and you're good.

I prefer something tangible when it comes to long stories, if it's a short book of about 50 to 100 pages then I prefer an Ebook version because I can easily finish it in an 2-3 hours or in one sitting. But if it's a long read then I would opt for a physical book.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Tronia
I am the same as you. If it is shorter than I can read an e-book but anything that goes over like 50+ pages, it gets harder to keep up. I just ny focus and have to keep rereading things to be able to remember.

That is why I love the printed books. The feeling of holding it in your hand and flipping the pages with your hand is unique.

Yeah, it's more satisfying to read a book especially a long one if it is paperbound. Your eyes will suffer if you read on a computer or tablet for too long. I also like to keep books that I've read a collection or a trophy to prove that I conquered that book's universe. Do you ove books more than e-books?

Yes, I also prefer e-books if the book that I'm reading has at least 20-30 pages of length. But, when I have a 400 or more page book, I rather have the physical one.

No, I don't think I own a single book. Even my ebook "collection" (in quotes, as I don't store anything after I have finished reading them) can be counted with fingers in one hand. I tend to read most stuff completely online anyways, so I have no need to store books of any sort.

I enoy reading physical books. They are too expensive in my country. I can't remember the last time I bought a physical book.I have resorted to e-books. My ebooks collection is over 2000. E-books are way cheaper, you can also on occasion find them for free.I would say I'm years behind in my reading. I'm now used to reading e-books. I'm also shopping for a kindle. This is the trend the world is moving in, so we need to adapt.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SiamSEO
Have you tried second hand books? New books tend to be expensive because of the cost of production and ever decreasing demand, but second hand books usually go for pennies anywhere, and in many occasions you can even get them for completely free when giving your old books in exchange!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Oh, wow, with that 2000 E-books, if that E-books will become a tangible books, you gonna be rich after 10 years, sometimes normal books or traditional books is a good investment. It's looks like a lot or properties. the value will become much more higher if it's getting older.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SiamSEO
But since ebooks don't work that way, it's entirely pointless to even think about becoming rich with "second hand" ebooks. Books in general are not exactly something that could be considered an investment, they're more of a hobby for collectors.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

aeon
Yeah, just a hobby for collectors, That's why they willing to pay high for the particular book they want. Well you're right, is not about money for enthusiastic in book reading, money can't compare for the knowledge and interesting story inside the books.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

SiamSEO
Exactly, but as digital content can't really be collected the same way physical can be (due to how easy it's to copy) digital second hand doesn't really even exist. Some retailers might give rebate if you "return" old digital content, but that's just on their service and is nothing but a marketing gimmick.

Books has been already a part of our lives that is sometimes I am still reading some books whenever I feel bored reading some eBooks. I will not really forget those times that I was dependent on the books in gathering the data that I needed in my studies before. I am thankful for having some books during those times that eBooks are not yet available.

There is no contest here. I 100% prefer traditional, physical books over eBooks.

I can't deny that eBooks are pretty convenient. It is a technological milestone to be able to put hundreds upon thousands of books all onto one convenient device that you can take with you anywhere. I can't deny that is pretty amazing. However, I still prefer traditional books for their physical characteristics.

For one thing, physical books do not depend on electricity or Wi-Fi. Once you have it, it is always readable until the day it is destroyed. Then there is the sensory experience of reading a physical book. You have the smell of the paper, the textile sensation of your fingers pressing onto the page and the sound of turning the paper from one side to the next. It's a multi-sensory experience that cannot be imitated in digital form.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kailee23
I couldn't agree with you more Denis about the sensory experience of reading a physical book. I love the smell of the book (both old or new ones, I sniff them, lol) and the actual turning of the pages in your fingertips as opposed to swiping them in eBooks in smart phones or tablets. You also noted the sound when you actually flip real pages,I think nothing can beat that. Plus, you get to see how far you've read after reading a few chapters just by looking at where you bookmarked. This is also quite motivating for me, seeing how far along I am compels me to finish the book.

I love both physical and digital books. I have a lot of books here at home and the rest are in my parents house, it's my collection. I started collecting books when I was in highschool and stopped about 10 years ago, because I got so many already. At one time more than a hundred of my books were damaged by a typhoon, the winds forced open the window of the room I stored my books in and some of my books got wet.

Recently I've been buying ebooks at Kindle and it's fun, I bought some for $0.99 to $2.99, mostly cook books that I like.

Physical book for me. I don't really read some e-book. Traditional books is recommended also to read at night specially before going to sleep to avoid the digital eyestrain or computer vision syndrome. This one could cause of dry eyes and headache. Having books also is a good collection.

Reading of physical books have been said to bring more result instead of having to focus on reading of e-books. That has made me focus on reading normal books most of the times for that is the only way that I can get to learn better work less pressure attached to it as well.

I love physical books. I don't actually read that much anymore but if I were to get a book, I would 100% get a physical version of it as I just love to actually be able to hold it and read it. I actually don't own any e-books at all so I definitely own more books than e-books lol. I can't see myself ever really getting into e-books unless publishers actually started to stop printing out physical books.

People around my hood still feel better when they read printed books and don't see any need to go through the information that are online unless on situations where they are made to do so by academics or any other means. However, I would say that I feel good when I read e-books and not when I go with printed materials.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I definitely prefer the physical books over the e-books.

I know that we are advancing in the technology but still, when it comes to books, I guess I prefer the good old way. When I was a child we didn't have anything else but libraries. We had to go there if we wanted to read. The internet wasn't really a thing back then.

But yes, I don't own many e-books at all. They are just harder to read for me because I lose attention. I have over 100+ normal books though.

I love books more than ebooks. I go to the library once in a while to read a book and I will say the old way of reading will never go out of fashion. Ebooks are great but it is not in my liking to read online.

Same to you. Actually I go to some department store and specifically in booksales if I want to read some books. Booksales is a department where they're selling quality books. If you can't afford the book, they allow you to read it, but just inside the store.

I made use of the library more when I was still in college but once I got to university level when I needed more research to complete most of my courses, it's virtually impossible to find all the books I needed in the library, so I had to switch to electronic books.

I have also been doing much of my research and reading online while in campus. And I do agree that the books in the school library rarely have the information you need and most are old. I now like reading books at the library as long as I don't do any research. I read novels and other life changing books.

I have a similar experience with you. Books before were very useful and enough for me during high school. However when I entered college (our university and college here in my country is the same), I also had to switch to e-books because our library can't provide everything I need. I also find e-books more helpful than some books I've read because they lack some new information which is definitely present in newer e-books.

I can relate with you, even I frequent our library during my Highschool and University days because there's really a lot of things you can't access in the net back then. Also, the net was very slow in loading stuff, it was easier to just go to the library and borrow the material or books I needed.

Sometimes looking and holding physical books would entice me to read the book. Whenever im in a friends house where theres a lot of books displayed in the living room and on tables, the first book that I'll grab is always a hard bound coffee table book, there's something about the thick bounded cover and it's cover design, that attracts me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well personally if I were to choose between both of them of course I would read e-books rather than printed books. With today's lifestyle, it is more practical to use e-books compared with the printed ones. You can carry your phone or the electronic book itself everywhere which is more convenient for me.
Even though using an e-book is more practical and easier to use, I have printed books more than e-books. What makes me love the printed ones are their scent, the texture of the paper and the sound it makes everytime you turn your page from one to another.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Are you me? Do you ove books more than e-books?

This is exactly how I feel about books. I like to read ebooks because you can get them for cheap or even pirate them if you are broke. But if I have the money for luxury, I'd prefer to read them in paper format because of the scent and the tactile feel of turning the page.

This is how I feel when it comes to comic books. They're typically easy and quick to read, so it's much more convenient for me to have them in a digital library on my phone or laptop as opposed to having a stack of them to take with me. It's so much more convenient and allows me to read them in my downtime between meetings, while I'm waiting for an appointment, etc, whereas having a physical copy with me would be very unlikely in those instances.

If I am online I prefer the eBook because it is very easy to navigate and a lot choices to have than having a book to read. Maybe If I am offline then I would probably choose the book because it don't need any internet connection just to have them. Both of them are my choices but it only depends on my mood and the circumstances itself.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I love both of them. They both have their pros and cons. I love physical books because they are more pleasing to read. I like the tactile feel of holding the cover and turning every page. Physical books are also easier on the eyes since the text are printed on paper and not rendered by a screen.

I love eBooks because of their convenience. You can easily buy them from online stores and they'll be instantly ready for download. You also don't need to bring a lot of books during your travels, you only need your eReader or your tablet and you are set.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Agree with that. They both have pros and cons. Most of the time, it's up to readers needs. E-books is very easy to find now and easy to get the attention of the readers. They don't need to go to the bookstores just to buy and read books.

Yes you are right about the convenience of an e-book but I think that is a reason for those people who really into reading books. Because if you love books, those reasons are nothing at all. I know that experience. Actually when the time that this E-book is not popular and no one knows about this. I need to get all info to the internet and do book binding. I need to gather and print every single page of the book just to read it. But sadly because of the flood in our country, I lose the three book binding.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I'd like to ask if it is much cheaper to have your book bound on your own. Or is it cheaper to buy the original copy of the book?

I agree also with that because both of them have their own advantages and disadvantages which is really makes them more useful and very unique in its nature. I really love honestly reading a book because of the feeling of the sense of touch, you can feel the thickness of a book while you are scanning its pages whereas eBook is very convenient in a way that you can have as many stories or articles that you like as long as you a gadget and all is set already. You can read anytime even you are in a travel mode for some important events or celebrations.

I guess when it comes down to it, having a physical copy of your beloved book is worth it. There's nothing like holding your favorite book and reading with perfect lighting. Typically yes, I prefer physical copies of books over ebooks. I just like being able to physically hold the book while I read, and to be able to put a bookmark where I left off. Maybe it's because that's just what I'm used to and comfortable with, but I prefer it.

However, I feel completely different when it comes to comic books. I love reading comic books on my tablet and phone, and almost prefer reading them in a digital format as opposed to a physical book. I'm not sure why, but I think it's just because there's so much artwork and it's easier to store them digitally and flip through them that way.
