20 Minute Articles, Have You Ever Tried To Write Them?

20 Minute Articles, Have You Ever Tried To Write Them?

Some time back when blog networks such as build my rank were quite popular, bloggers to promote their sites, often either hired or wrote many articles which would be submitted and published on such blog networks. Because they were seeking many backlinks daily, they had to write and publish many articles.

Thus arose the need to find a way to write articles quickly.  Thing though is the value provided to readers was close to zero.

Should you attempt to create content quickly, you will not only probably lose your audience really  fast there is also the likelihood that you will not get much organic traffic either once you are penalized by search engines. Yeah. Build my rank and other blog networks like them were hit hard by Google. So hard that the owners lost everything overnight.

The lesson we can all learn from this is, even if you are tempted to write something quickly because you just have to publish fresh content on your blog, don't do it. It's much better to create content when you have time and schedule your posts to be published later. This way you'll never need to write a 20 minute article that will cause you lots of problems later.

I believe that 20 minutes article can be done. Those who are expert in writing can do this very easily. But for the newbies like me, I believe that I can do it also. But I believe that what I can do will be of a lesser quality than those veteran writers.

That's true. But even professionals struggle with fast content creation. They'd rather think things over carefully for a few days. Editing takes time. They actually let it sit for a few days before coming back to edit their work. This gives them a fresh pair of eyes.

I have never done such long yet but if the person is determine to finish that long with motivation I think it is possible. Many people have been writing for so long and their writing skills is really well experienced at all so I should say that they can do it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. People that have been writing for so long can do it. Those are well experienced in writing will not find it hard to do it.

Yeah that is write. Writing an article and even a book needs more time. This is to make sure that the story goes well. We must not write and finish it immediately. We need more time reviewing it and see of its enough or needs some changes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jeffreyjose48
That is true. Writing an article or even a books needs so much time. Great articles are written by spending much time and effort.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
The longer you write something, the more the story become exciting and full of knowledge. Consuming more time writing an article will give you much time to review it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Youngshark
True you will understand it well meaning that your reviewing will be much easier as all the concepts are still fresh in the mind.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is definitely correct. The more time the better. Another advantage of having more time of writing is that you will have enough time to think and not rushing to finish it immediately.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Trust me when I tell you that it is always bad if you have to rush to finish an article. You will make a lot of errors some of which are minor that the editor will be frustrated with your submission. They might even suspend you due to such errors and hence it is always wise to never rush a writing task.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Exactly. Rushing things in general have a less quality in the end. We should have enough time to do things so that the outcome of it would be perfect.

I agree with this. If you have written for any writing account online, you know that they set a time limit. Most give you an hour to write 400 words or 2 hours to write 500-1000 words. When I was new to writing I used to write for these writing sites and I must say that it was brutal. In that 1 or 2 hours you have to do your research, write and edit. You are under a lot of pressure and it is no fun I can tell you. It is really stressful especially when you are trying to write many articles.

Can you recommend sites like this? I'm interested in joining to increase my online income. This is just jobs for you spare time right? Not a full time or part time job?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Experienced this one as well. Aside from the regular writing jobs you need to write according to their given deadline, I was also given some urgent writing jobs. These are jobs that another writer took but when near the deadline suddenly abandoned the task. Usually cost more since it is urgent but you really have to pressure yourself to follow the time frame without sacrificing the quality of your work.

You're right, for 20 minutes I can write a short article of about 200 words on a subject that I'm familiar with. Writing longer articles will take a longer time more so if I'm not familiar with the subject.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I've been in a similar situation. But mine wasn't as time pressured as yours was. I had a day or two to finish writing articles. Still, the stress wasn't worth the pay. I'd rather do other stuff than that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I never tried writing a 20-minute article. But I believe that writers that are experts or have more experience can do this. If I decide to do this then I think I need to write something that is really interesting. I have to be knowledgeable too to create long content.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Yes, being prepared is a big advantage. So it's better to have a good grasp of the topic before working on it. Research needs time. So you should consider whether you can finish it within the given deadline.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
I have written articles for much lesser time. In my experience it's all about familiarity of the subject. If the chosen subject is something that I'm an authority of then all I need is 5-10 minutes to write a 200-400 word article.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Yeah, it is about being familiar with a certain topic. When the things that we want to write are the things that are already in our mind, then this is not going to be an issue. Once a good writer is always a good one as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

jeffreyjose48
I agree with you. Its easy to write on topics that you are very knowledgeable with. You will not get out of words to write if you chose a favorite topic.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Like how we can usually talk about our favorite TV shows and movies. We don't need to exert a lot of effort. It just comes naturally. We're very lucky to write about stuff that genuinely interests us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mdayrit
I agree. If you are familiar with the topic you are writing, it won't be hard to find the words and discuss it. No need for further planning on how the flow of the article will be. Words just comes out like you are talking to someone casually.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Correct, familiarity with what you are writing is a huge advantage to finish it as soon as possible. If you know exactly what to write, you dont need time to research what should you write in there. So it means that you save time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mitan143
That is definitely the outcome if it is something that really motivates you to write like a certain topic you already mastered. It means that you have a big load of information on it. And I admire your mastery when it comes to writing your own chosen subject which you can put a lot of ideas, information and etc. For a 5 to 10-minute written article? That's quiet amazing. You must be very used in constructing your thoughts very well. Honestly, that 5-10 minutes for me is I'm actually thinking about my topic in that range of time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Quality posts over quantity. I don't think a quality blog post can be done in 20 mins. It takes time to write and revise any kind of written material. The longest time in my opinion is spent in the conceptualization and writing process. I don't believe you can do those in just 20 mins. It's not like in school where they give you 20 mins to pull as much from your butt to occupy the paper.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That was really funny. It's true what you say about schools forcing you to write stuff just to fill pages of papers. Successful bloggers know to take their time and edit as much as possible. Once they're satisfied with what they've written, only then will they publish it online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
I just remembered while writing that comment about a time where school required me to write a 1000 word essay under an hour. Seriously, it's the content that matters rather than the quantity. People have this preconceived notion that a poor essay is a short one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I know, right? I totally relate with you on that one. I remember it as well. Schools have lots of misguided preconceptions about how the way things work. Especially, in writing.

And it was really painful to have to write your answers on those sheets of paper. It's either you don't have enough to say to fill the pages or you have too much to write and not enough blank spaces for writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

rlpzbeermoney
Or that if your vocabulary is limited then you're considered a simpleton (nice way to put things in). There's nothing wrong with a limited vocabulary. If anything, it's easier to understand to the general public than it is to use big words that just means the same thing. I just hate school in general. Hahaha

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I'm with you on that one. They encourage us to use lots of fancy vocabulary. When really, it means nothing if the other person doesn't understand it. So better to use basic words.

After all, it's how we present our ideas that makes them special. Also, the fact that they're actually meaningful rather than drawn out sentences to fill blank spaces.

Patience is the key when we are looking at getting to make good contents that will ensure that we achieve a lot within a period of time. One thing that I know that it is not easy is trying to make contents in that short period of time, but another thing that we should consider is the need to meet up with deadlines too.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
I agree. Patience should always be present when it comes to business. Deadlines will always be there, we cannot avoid it, but we should not lessen the quality of our blog just because of the deadline. We should still maintain good quality of our posts so that we can still create a good output.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
Most writers tend to find a healthy balance between the two. After all, you can only do so much within a short span of time. Realistic goals must be met with consistent effort. This is how they continue to succeed in writing with deadlines.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
It will require a lot of practice before being able to create such good content in a short period of time. I believe that it will be possible for those bloggers who already have enough experience and knowledge. It is not impossible to create a good content you just have to exert effort and dedication to reach that capability.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I agree. It's amazing how experienced bloggers can create content on a regular basis. I remember reading a blog post. It said the truth is simple. Nothing ever gets easier.

You only get better at keeping at it. In a way, it's true of all things. In fact, things only get harder the more you grow in your profession. And with writing, no matter how good you get, there'll always be room for improvement.

I am never in danger of writing an article in 20 minutes due to my perfectionism. The main thing is to write good, quality content. Speed usually results in inconsistencies and mistakes. That said, I would like to write faster than I do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
We can all relate. I know how much writers want to write faster. But what's important is that we write better. Never mind if it takes a while. Great writing is valuable. Many people pay a lot for such good quality.

I am also new with the world of article writing and I could say that I cannot make a perfect article in just 20 minutes since it would really takes some time for me but I am sure I can make it to write great articles. It is mainly because I am focus on writing good quality content that is why it really takes some time for me to write some articles.

I know of veteran writers who can finish a 2-page article in 10 to 20 minutes. But it cannot be considered a finished product because it has to undergo several reviews plus the verification of facts. Submitting the said article without the refinements can be a disaster if there is a factual error or a big mistake in grammar. I can come up with 1 article in a day and I guarantee a polished article that underwent at least 3 reviews and verification of facts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
“But it cannot be considered a finished product because it has to undergo several reviews plus the verification of facts.”

I think that these are the key factors here.

If an average article is about 2,000 words in length, then time isn’t such an issue for me. I have enough experience under my belt to be able to churn that out within a half-hour, so long as I have all my sources at hand. Sure it might not be very thoughtful, but it'll be done.

But typing something out isn’t nearly where the work ends. The work that I did under a half-hour is merely the first draft. I then need to do my first revision in order to refine the flow and composition of each sentence/paragraph, a second revision to correct spelling and grammatical errors, and a third in order to verify my facts are correct.

Any relatively experienced writer shouldn’t have a problem writing 2,000 words, but there’s a lot more work to be done afterwards. You can’t put out a rough draft and call it finished work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

coolavender
A 20-minute article should not cause you any problems at all if you're familiar with the subject and can type fast. Let's say you can write 30 wpm (because you have to think, not just type fast), you can produce a decent 600-word article in 20 minutes. That's not too difficult for content mill writers and niche experts. You can also afford to relax a bit and write 20 wpm to come up with a 400-word article. It's technically possible and it doesn't necessarily translate to low quality output.

DenisP
“That's not too difficult for content mill writers and niche experts.”

That’s the thing, it’s fine if we’re talking about content mills, but 400-600 words isn’t going to do if you’re writing a blog article.

One of the criteria for optimizing a blog post’s search engine ranking is for your article to consist of around 2,000-2,250 words. It’s basically the standard at this point, but was much lower previously.

In any case, a 2,000-word article that is free of spelling/grammatical errors, fact checked, and thoughtfully written, all in under 20 minutes is unrealistic even for niche experts. To achieve that you’d have to be some kind of prodigy.

It’s realistic for an eight-hour work period, but certainly not under 20 minutes.

In steemit we had a five minute write. One did it without correcting or rereading. You just began and when the time is up, you press the publish button.

There was also a fifty word story and lymericks. Often the purpose is to create think-quick writers. Often I do write this way. Not that am expert but do not fear to hurt my reputstion either.

I agree with you. Its like art - you never rush it. Same thing, for us to create a nice story for our article we time i mean enough time to finished your writings. Its really best you do it in a relaxing place, nice warming sound and no one will interrupt you while organising you thoughts.

Some people can write a good quality of the article in 20-minutes but you need to be great and quick thinker when doing this. I agree with others that you might sacrifice the quality of your content due to the given timeframe. Being familiar with or knowledgeable about the topic is also an advantage to make this kind of writing possible.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think this article really reminds us that quality is better than quantity. If you can crank out great articles quickly then that’s a wonderful thing, but often they require quite a bit of time and effort.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are definitely correct. I would rather write an article that has great quality. Being able to write a content in a short period of time with poor quality is useless. Readers would prefer to read an amazing content that was created with full effort and time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
I think that doing a 20 minutes article is a tough job since you will need to double checked it after some time to ensure its validity, truthfulness and its quality as well. It is really time consuming to write an article and especially in the processing of checking them because it also consume much time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

DenisP
Before seriously jumping into an endeavor like blogging for the sake of profit, you have to be incredibly familiar with your limits.

An average article needs to be somewhere around the region of 2,000 words, which isn’t really that difficult of a goal to reach on a daily basis. If you’re aiming to put out some genuinely thoughtful content, then it isn’t unrealistic to put out a 2,000-word article every two to three days, or about twice a week.

But writing a quality article in 20 minutes? Get out of here. There is no way that you can generate any sort of thoughtful content in that sort of time. I take longer to write certain lengthier posts when doing paid forum posting, let alone blogging.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
Doing something quickly without thinking clearly about it could give you a lot of troubles. It requires a lot of focus and thinking to do a good blog. Creating one in just 20 minutes? Possible, but there's a lot of risk. Risk that may take your business or job away from you. Better to spend time for your blog, it will not just make your blog better but it'll also make you appreciate more of your work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you on so many levels. It is definitely possible to write an article in under 20 minutes if you're a reader and has a lot of ideas with you. However, I don't think doing that is unhealthy not just for your income but to your blog as a whole because you might come to a time where you'll be out of contents and ideas to write and so you'll have a day where you won't have anything to post making possible for your viewers to have a shortage of content to read.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's possible for just about anyone. But the difference lies in quality. Even professionals prefer to take their time writing content. Rushing something often results in poor content. This only makes people less likely to read more of your work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think this article really reminds us that quality is better than quantity. If you can crank out great articles quickly then that’s a wonderful thing, but often they require quite a bit of time and effort.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, even those who can achieve such a feat prefer taking more time to edit. It could be the key to great writing. Everything can be improved upon in the first draft.

I remember a saying about how perfection is achieved. It's not perfect when you can no longer add anything. Because you can always add whatever you want. You know it's perfect when nothing can be taken out. Because all that's left is essential.

Writing a content in 20 minutes can be hard for others. But I believe that even the beginners can be able to write this. It is important to understand well what the topic is all about. You can also try to make an outline in the first few minutes. Use words or phrases that you are comfortable with. I think people who love reading and writing have big advantages when writing an article in a short period of time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You can definitely write or create your own fresh content if you put your mind and backs in it. There is no big deal in writing one's new article, it's all about getting a new topic you are good at and have good detailed information to use and develop it.

Commenting to other people's contents isn't so bad as long as you have something useful and meaningful to add as a reply to the topic.

That's just amazing. How I wish I also have the talent to pull something like this off. This is a good reminder that quality is so important. If you’re cranking out articles at the speed of light but not dedicating time and effort to them, it can be hard to seem credible or professional.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Exactly! Rushed articles are never written with good standards and this makes a mess of the whole content because there will be lots of errors, broken languages, punctuation errors etc.

Just like you mentioned, such rushed article writing definitely won't look professional or properly written. My question is why rush content writing when you are aware it's going to be badly written?

I think some people end up just thinking of the short-term money making that they'll get from writing quick articles, but I think long term if you write poorly or have a rushed portfolio of work, then it ends up being harder to find future gigs. Ultimately I think you set yourself up for more success if you put the time and effort into it from the start! 20 Minute Articles, Have You Ever Tried To Write Them?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Writing a 20-minute article is impossible for me as I do a lot of reading and research first about the subject that I get to write on (even if I'm already familiar with it). It takes me about 6-9 hours to write a 1000-word article, and that includes the time for research, verification of info and sources that I embed on it. I consider myself a novice writer and still have a lot of things to learn. I do hope I get better in time.

I'm sure you'll get better at it in no time.

Blogging can in reality be fast when one is composing for one's very own blog, particularly when so enlivened. This being composed, it's been my experience that composition for a customer, particularly different customers crosswise over different enterprises, takes over 20 minutes. It might even be to the best advantage to take over 20 minutes to compose a blog article for another person.

Yes, it's possible when you're very enthusiastic about your work. But even if you can draft quickly, you still need more time for editing. This is what makes articles better. Good editing elevates any writing to a higher quality.

"20 minute article " if you read it like this, it sounds so similar to " 2 minutes noodles" or "instant coffee". I think if you are very talented and experienced then you may be able to do such an article without compromising the quality of your content. But most of the writers won't have such an extraordinary talent . Even an experienced writer would definitely find it very difficult to continuously go on writing such articles. For a newbie like me writing a twenty minute article is like a completely impossible task right now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's never been stated for us to time ourselves like that in writing. Good composition takes time. So it's in our best interest to keep a realistic approach on things. Even if there were such impossible deadlines, it's probably not worth the stress.

It's much better to focus on quality than speed of completion.

People that has a long writing experience can do it easily with out a problem. It's like a natural thing for them. But for beginners it might cause a majot problem. One of that is that you actually lose the good content of your article. Why? Because the time will give pressure to you and you will not focus to the article instead you will focus on the time.

I think that writing a 20 minutes article could be done as way to train your writing skills, the way you organize your thoughts and to polish your style in delivering content. But still, such articles should at least go through three editors to maintain quality.

Writing in just 20 minutes isn't really easy, but I think if you are persistent and determine to finish your task with good quality, you can do it. Always think positive. Although it sounds new to me but if given a chance to do that, I will try my best to have good content.

My sentiments too. The point to take home is not how quick you have written, but maintaining the quality of the article. I will also give it a trial, and give it to someone to check the quality.

I think the key to writing that fast is making the writers be fast thinkers and composers.

I haven't tried making one. It is too long for me and the readers might get bored. But if you have a way to keep your readers interested, then proceed with making one. As for me, I am a straightforward person so I always state my point directly to avoid wasting time. There are some writers who are good at keeping their readers interested, mostly those who are good at making stories. Here in the country where I come from, there is famous website where you can find stories that gets adapted to books and even receive movie adaptations. If you have a way of getting the attention of your reader at all times, then you have the skill to write a 20 minute article.

@hstinscdIn,I think you have misunderstood the point. I think the point is the speed at which the article is written in 20 mins you can’t write that too many words. I would argue you can write at most 500 words. the worry would be the quality of the article especially if you have to do your research first if you're writing on a niche that you know, it's not such a problem however you have to remember that you have to edit what your writing. In general, I’m against deadlines while writing, inevitably it'll affect the quality of the content.
