What makes a good writeup

Have been wondering why we have some article that we read today and still want to continue reading non stop, what are those ingredients in writing that attracts readers to never leave you blog or page and keep coming back to check for more.

I will like to hear from what makes writing fun and interesting, please i need to hear from your own experience? Lets talk about it here......

In my opinion a write-up should have appeal, it should be both engaging and interesting enough to attract resders. It should be believable and fact based. Also it should have the right lenght, it shouldn't be too long and dragging and it should play and hype the readers interest.

Yeah speaking of technicality you are right. The article should not too long because if your article is long, the people might loss interest to read. Dont also too short. It should be enough size.

Sometimes we read very interesting articles that are both captivating and wonderful even if the size is big or rather the article is long, but we keep reading because it has something to offer.

Exactly, long articles become very boring as you read down and it must command good grammar and interesting fact to keep the reader there.

I agree, it should be thought-provoking too and catchy. It should be direct to the point and the focus on one thoughts.

You have highlighted everything that makes a good write-up. I have been following the above points when making any write-up unless otherwise advised by the client.

But, I am camping here to learn more from other writers. I will just follow and see the various opinions, for the benefit of my improvement.

I think to be a good writer you should have a passion of writing and loving what you are doing at the same time. You gonna have more ideas and topics to write if you love what you are doing. Also make sure that your article can relate to the people. They will easily connect and follow your story if they are interested to what you wrote.

Topics and ideas are really important thing to become a good writer because from there the whole story will circulate in the ideas. A good writer must have a wide knowledge in order to write a huge article or a book.

You can make a good write-up if you start your first sentence as good as you can because you can have a lot of readers from your website if that's a good write-up.

For me it should be truthful. It shouldn’t sound so flattering. It should be engaging. It would be better if it is concise. It should never be boring. A good write up is direct to the point. The first sentence should catch the reader’s attention. It should convey what you feel.

Some writers may not write a truthful story and it will sound like try and very interesting for the reader, i just think the best thing to do is to keep the writing simple and captivating to some extent that the reader will love so much.

For me, the saying "each to their own" greatly applies. Since a person is as unique as the next person, then stick to that uniqueness of yours. See, everyone nowadays has done what the next person has done and has tried what the person has tried. But there would be always something, something that only you did to that particular something. Like the way you blend your colors in your website pictures. Or the array of ideas you put in it. Or the way you write. To keep your readers engaged in your writings, make it relatable. Yes always sure that your audience can relate to what you are saying. But always put your spin into it. Because you are you, and to be able to be different from others is to be exactly you. So find your passion, and an audience who could relate will stick by you. And that's a great kind of audience too, because you know that they understand what you write.

That's very true. Originality will always play a big role on the success of any write-up. As a reader myself I always opt for writers who put their own colors on their write-ups without copying from the style of other writers. And yes, being true to self is the best key to make yourself relatable to your readers because thru the differences you can make interesting connections, comparisons, and sometimes sympathy and empathy from your readers.

True. Copying maybe convenient and will make your work easier, however it's one of the greatest sins that writers should never commit. Also, it's such an insult for a writer to be called a plagiarist because to be honest, no writer should be called one if he/she cannot create his/her own write-ups.

Information, Information, Information. I'm sure you have heard the saying content is King. Having amazing content is what attracts your audience and keeps them coming back. Provide people with content that is structured and informative and you will have more viewers a month then your website can handle. If you are keen you will find blogs that review online working sites e.t.c get a lot of traffic, because this is what people are searching for.

There are so many things that I can list up that makes up a good writing but I'm going to try and list the most important ones that shouldn't be omitted for any reason whatsoever. They are ;

Focus on discussing one subject matter (Topic).

Hit the nail on the head and don't waste time beating about the bush.

Resist using ambiguous words to improve easy understanding by readers.

Cut out all grammatical errors as much as possible.

There’s a few things that draw me to certain pieces of writing. First, it can’t have a bunch of spelling mistakes in it, or to me they’ve already lost their credibility (and my attention!).

Second, I think the writing style needs to be approachable. I don’t like things that are written with a bunch of long words that people never use just for the sake of sounding “smart”. Often it ends up sounding ridiculous!

When you are reading something that you feel like not stopping even for a short break, that element is called a Hook. Take the case of a suspenseful story, the hook is the mystery that suspends the revelation to make it exciting to the reader. For example the part of the story is the arrest of the masked criminal. Isn't it that you are anticipating who that criminal is? You are hooked by that scenario and I'm sure you will not put down the book until you get to know the identity of that masked criminal.

That is why an enticing and appealing design of your blog is also important. This is giving your readers a good impression about you and your blog. For me to make a good write up is that we should used some timely;y topics to be discussed on our writings so that we can easily attract and gain attention of the readers since they tend to prefer issues that are happening globally. It is good if we an have such interesting topic so that it would be catchy and be interesting to the readers.

I personally think that a good writeup depends in the readers' perspective. Evey reader has their own taste and may view some topics as irrelevant and boring which others can't. Also, as long as you have a good foundation as a writer, whatever topic or interest you dig in, you'll be able to at least pull some readers into your blog.

A good writeup is actually only that- a good writeup. It must be able to answer the questions you are seeking. It must be written in an intertaining language which is easy to read and enjoyable. The keywords and images must be relevant to the topic. If all these and much more come to light in your blogs then I will be game.

Another way you can make your writing more interesting to read:

1. Avoid using the passive voice.

example:
Our team was beaten by the visitors ---- not great.
The visitors beat our team ------ better.

Using the passive voice makes writing sound boring. Probably the reason why many essays are so boring.

You should always understand what the client wants and write to those specifications because even if you do everything else and forget to follow the instructions you will fail.

Simple. Just make an article that is eye-catching or topic that makes the reader a bit of curious. Do topics that is actually happening today or what we called in the trend. As I observed people nowadays, they are easily caught by some topic that is on the trend even though they don't have anything about the topic. People today are just so curious to know everything that is happening in the world. So try to be creative to attract their curious mind.

To create a good write-up you must first choose a general topic which shouldn't be niche based. The topic should target and be of some help to the masses. In short, write something which would benefit the most people. Secondly, it's composition should be simple and direct, use simple words and short sentences. Also hype up the good points and benefits for this will make it more engaging and appealing.

It must be simple, informative and well researched. It must also be well outlined and supported by pictures and images. A good editing must also be done when the article is finished. What I recommend for you is to study how the famous bloggers are doing their content.

First and foremost, a good writeup should have a good flow. It should commence with an introduction, then followed by the body, then finally the conclusion. Secondly, it should have no grammatical errors. Thirdly, all the ideas should be vivid and well expressed. Last but not least, a good writeup should have strong vocabulary.

I use honest and direct headers and I try and keep it to less than 1000 words because people have a short attention span. I use plenty of paragraphs and formatting is important, with the use of bold, italics, and also quotes.

My style is more direct, and I use language that everyone can relate to and understand. It's very different from writing an essay where you wish to impress, the aim here is to keep the reader reading and not to click to another page.

I think that a writing would become a good write up if we are just using simple words so that readers can easily understand our article. We should also avoid using flowering words just to make the article attractive bit instead be precise and direct to the point so that readers can easily know what you are trying to convey with them

In my opinion, know yourself first. knowing it is become of the key of what makes a good writeup because you know what is your purpose doing it. Know how to convey your writeup specially your feeling in it while writing on the readers. Then the other specific reason need to knkw are normal to the writers like facts, length of writing etcetera.

Just this past few days I read a travel blog, it really amaze me most, even though the blogger is not really at her best in writing, I appreciate more on the places she visited and how she immerse herself to a new culture. As I observed the most important in having a good write up is the good subject and you show to the readers the real pictures. They will be more appreciative when they see real and good pictures.

To make a good writeup you should have a very entertaining subject. And of course that subject must be the talk of the town to encourage more readers to come and read it. Make it look real and informative. Have it a creative style like hanging them for a moment and as they read thet will get more excited because of that.

Readers/surfers keep on coming back to the same blog because most likely they got something significantly interesting or meaningful in their previous experience when visiting the blog. Readers/surfers usually look out for something interesting in life that can improve their financial health, psychological well being or simply something new that they find invigorating to their personal conducts. So as a writer or blogger, we have to always vigilant in what we have to offer in our blog.

I think it's in the content of the article and the way it is delivered. I think the element to keep readers to read your article is to make sure that your article contains things that everyone could relate to. As for the way it is delivered, the article must be written in a natural way. What I mean by that is just write naturally and just be yourself. Write the article the same way you tell stories to your friend and family. The readers would feel like they are just reading something from a friend that they relate to. Just my opinion though.

I think that the criteria is also different, for different types of writing.If it is fiction for example the more exciting the plot twist the better. If it is an article whose aim is to inform or whose aim is to sale something, then it would depend mostly on how much it adheres to this objective. In my opinion style has very little to do with a good write up. I admit it would help but as the last consideration.
