Is it cheaper to buy or plane ticket online or in a ticketing office?

I still have this question on my mind.
Is it cheaper to buy plane ticket through online or in a ticketing affiliates?
I am thinking that when you buy at ticketing office they can give you cheapest price since they are the one who can first reserve promo tickets from the airlines.  If we will directly buy online ticket there are times that the promos were already sold out. Is that possible that all promo tickets were already bought by other ticketing affiliates and resell it with added price? Maybe cheaper than the usual regular plane ticket price.

I think online is always the way to go, since you’re ultimately cutting out the middle man. Travel agents or other ticket affiliates are usually trying to make a profit too - and I’ve always found their ticket prices higher than just looking up flights and booking them myself.

I concur with you on this. Online buying will save you on many things that will drastically cut down the cost. It will save you travelling to the respective offices too.

This is only great when you are able to find a reliable and trustworthy online broker. I actually never trust a lot of people who pose just as agents by themselves offering to sell such and would advice a lot of caution.

I agree with you. Since the service involves travel agents, booking offline will cost more than online. It's also convenient to book online because not only you can look easily for ticket sale, you can also save time.

I agree with you completely. Booking online will greatly save you time. It is also very easy to book your ticket online.

Online is the cheapest. I have experienced this often. Most especially if you book your ticket at wee hours. Its very cheap.

Yes, if you want to have the ticket right away, then avail it online, it will be less of cost because you don't need to travel or commute just to buy a plane ticket on a post office.

I agree with you, also in online you will see a lot of choices and of course discounts are offered in online.

I agree. They might offer higher ticket prices as they also have other expenses to pay. Unlike, online ticketing sites that they don't have to pay that much with their staffs because they can just set a program that will help them sell tickets.

I agree. Buying tickets online is way cheaper than buying from outlets. Outlets might have higher priced of tickets as they have some expenses to consider. But in online, they could just set up a program that could help them sell tickets.

There's a lot of good online deals and promos which airline ticketing companies are making available for online bookings. Once I got a 70? off ticket, it's a lot of savings. That's why I always book online.

Well, it's cheaper to buy a plane ticket on the post office than online, because it has a fee on paying online than on post office, tho it's easier to buy a ticket online.

Wow, where do you live? That’s cool that you can purchase plane tickets from your post office - it’s not something that can be done here in my country but I love the convenience of that!

Based on my experience, buying plane ticket online is always cheaper for me than in the ticketing office. Probably because you eliminated the middle men and their services. Booking plane tickets online are not that haassle. Just follow their sites and monitor for their promo. However, you can achieve plane tickets in a cheaper price if you have friends working in ticketing offices.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It so happens that most of us do not have friends in the ticketing offices. Buying online happens to be the best option then. You will get quicker services here.

My preference is buying online. You will avoid the middlemen and cut down on expenses.

There is no need to go to the hassle of going to booking offices if you can do it in he comfort of your office.

Can't remember the last time I purchased a plane ticket at a ticketing office or booth. I've been buying mine online for the last 10 to 12 years at least. Some people though still buy paper tickets just to be safe. Things can happen with electronic plane tickets, weird unfortunate things. But even those instances are rare.

Honestly, I have never bought a ticket from physical stores, it is always in online.

I like being able to cross check prices over so many different providers, too. It always makes me feel like I'm getting the best deal when I've done a significant amount of research online, rather than just dealing with a travel agent in a ticket office who has one set price.

I still prefer to buy ticket online because it is much cheaper since we don't need to have some middle man on our transactions which makes it more advantageous to have. Besides the transactions online is very fast, we can save time and effort since we will not anymore travel just to buy a plane ticket. The good thing in online purchases of tickets is that we have a chance to see some promo fare which is slightly lower than the ordinary fare that we buy online. But I think it is just very rare to have some promo since not all companies provide such a promo regularly and it is only on occasional basis.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
Buying online though means you have to be quick to lock in a certain price. Sometimes tickets can drop as far as $150 to $175 below market value. If you don't happen to be online when that happens, you can miss out on getting tickets to your desired destination at a steal of a price.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes that is right since I had experience it before, we should be quick in buying online some plane ticket especially if we find some promo rates that are affordable because it can immediately unavailable at some time if we will take so much time in buying online.

I agree with yiu, the absence of middle man makes it more cheap. And some airlines give big discount if yiu register to their website.

I will try to ask of this from my relative who is a frequent traveller for business reasons. I think they use an agent but I have no knowledge of how much they are charged. I will do my research and compare with the online rates.

I always prefer to purchase all my air tickets online. I don't think that it is cheaper to buy the air tickets at the counter. Most of the time people tend to buy tickets at the counter when they have any kind of urgency and have to go somewhere on the same day. There is no doubt that when you buy tickets online and that too well in advance, you will get the best price. Even when you have to buy the tickets a few days before departure it is always better to buy them online instead of buying them at the counter.

There is an airline here called Cebu Pacific that has a route in Asia and some other parts of the world. That airline usually has a promo once in a while that we wait for it when we are buying a plane ticket. The discount is sometimes 50% and even more. But the flight is 6 months ahead in time so you cannot buy a discounted ticket on demand. We are travelers and we are used to getting a booking in advance. We find the discount a big savings.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I think those kinds of discounts are a great incentive to book in advance. As long as your schedule is free to be able to travel on the dates you book, I think booking in advance is great. Some airlines here have those same deals but have a clause that you can't get a refund if you have to cancel - so you'd want to be 100% sure that you could travel on those dates.

I personally think that booking your tickets online is cheaper than offline. It's because not only is this convenient, it is also a way of monitoring ticket sales. You also get to save money as there will be no agent who'll add up their service charge to the price of the ticket.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The convenience factor is huge. If I was dealing with a ticket agent, I'd be limited to the times of day they are open. Online ticket sales mean that I can check ticket prices well outside standard business hours and book my flights at whatever time of day is convenient for me. It's such a time saver.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I am not sure about this but as far as I know, buying the ticket online is cheaper than the travel agency. When you book with a travel agent, there should be a cost for his service without noticing it since the service fee is also included in the price of your ticket. Unless you have a connection with the travel agency or have a close friend who can help you book, then you might get a discount that you would want.

Online is cheaper. Plus, if you know a few tricks, you can take advantage of the system. For instance, flights are cheaper on Tuesdays, as few people like to travel on this day; if you delete cookies in your navigator, flight prices will decrease, as online sites use information stored in your cache to understand that you are interested in buying plane tickets, thus raising the price; finally, one of the best sites to buy plane tickets is Skyscanner. It has a nice interface, it's easy to use, reliable (all of the flights I've purchased the last 2 years have been through this site) and the best of all, they offer the best deals online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
I've often heard that too, that certain days of the week are better to book flights on, since prices fluctuate during the course of a week. Didn't know that about deleting cookies though! That's super useful information.

Oh yeah. finding a cheap plane ticket on the Internet is a challenge given the number of offers that exist. However, these few tricks have facilitated the process of finding and purchasing cheap flights on the web for me. Anyway, to plan a trip you also need to be curious, patient and persevering to find the best offer of flight tickets on the Internet.

However right here, the problem isn't always about which alternative is cheaper. The best reason why you should buy tickets online is because you could see the options available for you through figuring out the Airline corporation, quantity of hop-ins, and so forth. to look which one is the cheapest. You may also see the positioning of the seats and different flight information which fits you. You could compare the costs online.

I agree with most of the comments that online is cheaper. However you need to know how to do this. The beauty with buying it online is that you can shop on various sites that are trying to attract sales so have many discounts and incentives. When you are online you can keep an eye on the prices that keep changing. The earlier you buy the better. Remember that most online sites don't have high office space costs so can afford to lower the price.

As we have advanced our technology to the point that every transaction can be done online, I suggest that you go online. It saves you time and it gives you variety of options. Plus there are plenty of platforms that helps you compare airfares to get you the most affordable deals as well as the most comfortable travel. Did you know that you could get a business class flight for the price of a regular flight? This is just one of the things that internet could do for you. On the other hand, ticketing companies would most likely give you freebies that more or less is covered by your fee.

Exactly! It's not only plane tickets that are given good discounts when they are booking online.

There is a particular car transportation company I normally use for my traveling purposes called God is Good. I always book my ticket online and gets 40% discount.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's a huge discount! I love that many online companies pass their savings onto their customers. Since there are often less expenses for running an online business rather than having a bricks and mortar store, it's always nice when companies reward their client base for their reduced costs.

Actually, it's advantageous for both parties. Those online ticketing sites save a lot of time, money, and human resources too as they employ an automated software on their end to make the processes.

It is pretty the same as long as you get to check it from a critical thinking. The thing with selling those tickets online is that you get to buy it with sales copies telling you that it is being sold to you at an amazing discount which is not pretty true.

I believe that booking your flight online will always be a better option because you don't have to stress yourself too much and have all the information about your flight and the available seats to choose from.

Sometimes when you go to the ticketing office, the agents seems to reserve seats for their preferred clients that gives them tips. But with online booking, you don't have to suffer such agents.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's always a lot easier to book your flight online than go to the ticketing office. One good thing about booking a flight online is that it saves you time and the stress of dealing with the ticket office agent to book your flight for you. 90% of all my flights have been booked online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

People also need to remember that a ticket office agent isn't in business to help you find the best price for you, they're in business to help you find the best price for them. The more money you pay, the larger the ticket agents cut of the profits is.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I couldn't agree more. Those ticketing agents are nasty. I've experienced it before, and oh boy I was so shocked when I saw its price posted online. That's why I always go for online deals today.

I get the point of it is more convenient to buy online than going out to buy plane ticket in the counter. I agree also that they offer promo fare online and we all know promos are in limited time only. What I want to know is, are ticketing offices are given opportunity to purchase bulk promo fare directly from the airline company? If so, that promo ticket they bought they will probably sell it with additional charge, but a less cheaper I guess comparing the present price online. Given that online promos were sold out and back to its normal price.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
Ticketing offices normally don't bother with promos unless it's a discount on a very high airfare. For example, if you're buying tickets that are $800 and up, they might try and cut you a deal. But they'll still take home a nice chunk of change due to the initial cost of the tickets. But anything under $400 - they could care less about mediating a promo or sale.

I haven't bought a ticket through physical stores so I don't really know the difference. However, I know that online is cheaper, because of the absence of middle man and the fact that a lot of airlines give discounts everytime you register in their websites.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are right in your assumption that online tickets are cheaper simply because the airline had saved a lot. An offline ticketing office is expensive to maintain with the big overhead. I can see that airlines are now veering towards online transactions because they now realize the financial burden of offline ticketing. I guess in the near future the physical ticketing offices will be gone.

Though here in the Philippines, if you're close with a ticketing agent, they can usually give you discounts over the table. One time, my friend got a better deal than me on the same flight. I used online coupons and he was just given that because of his connections.

For me, buying ticket online would be cheaper. It is also convenient as you don't have to travel in order to go to an outlet store. I also noticed that most of the promos were offered online, but since many people have access online, there will likely be a bigger chance that the promo will be gone in just an hour. Also, I think outlets ahve higher ticket prices as they have to pay for the salaries of their staffs and also their other expenses. So, you can just watch out for promo in order to have one online.

Buying tickets online is much more cheaper because in online you search for more option between different airlines who offer cheapest. It depends on what promos they have. I have a friend who was able to fly with just 100 pesos because the airline that time had a special offer that's why it's very important to follow their pages on facebook ang on instagram to stay updated because their special promos are just limited. We don't know you might be the lucky one to see it first.

I really don't know what is cheaper. I am not sure if booking online has any hidden fees. What I am after is the convenience when booking. I prefer to book online because it is easier, faster and a better experience overall. I booked in a ticketing office some time ago and I was asked to wait in a line for a long time. But there was no any line! After that, they made a mistake with my name and I have to wait again. I was frustrated.

I use to book our own flight as it's more cheaper than buying from an agent which sometimes costs too much price than the normal as their profit. For me it's more convenient to just book on your own ticket than let others book for your ticket which you can make it for yourself alone without others.

Personally for me it's cheaper to buy a ticket online, simply because the airport is far too away. I'd just waste a lot of money by driving the car there. Also I don't like a mass of many people, makes me feel uncomfortable. So booking a flight at home is all the way for me.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It's always cheaper online. There are so many coupons and vouchers scattered across the web and sometimes it's the sole reason people even buy tickets in the first place. You don't get that opportunity when you buy tickets on the counter. Imagine the savings you'd have with the price of airline tickets nowadays.

It is Christmas time and companies have their biggest promo for this period and that includes the airlines. We are currently searching for cheap plane tickets for a trip from Manila to Tokyo sometime in April 2019. Advanced booking gets you more discount and you can also choose your seat if you have preferences. I hope to be able to buy 2 tickets for that planned Tokyo trip in time for the cherry blossoms.
