Are you careful of what you post online?

Making social media posts is something that most of us that have social media accounts such as Facebook do most of the times. We always want to let our followers know what is happening in our lives and environment.

While there are people that are always careful of what they post, we have others that don't really care about that. So, do you take out to check posts before you drop them on social media?

I think I’ve become more careful with it as I’ve gotten older. I used to be pretty frivolous and post whatever I wanted to online, but with so many sites having data breaches and things like that it’s made me consider the dangers of doing that.

I’m way more cautious these days.

There is much danger in posting carelessly. It may affect your ranking on search engines.

Yes it’s certainly something to consider from both a personal life and a business perspective.

I do also think it’s good to remember that once something is on the internet it’s basically there forever so being aware of what you put out there is important.

I agree. We certainly need balance between our personal life and business. Thus we need to consider if what we are posting is beneficial to both. Sometimes, there are personal posts that might have negative implications to our businesses, without us knowing them.

It's not just your ranking that might suffer. With every post, your reputation is on the line. And for those who still want to be hired for some job, I've heard that some employers often desire to have a look at your social media accounts so they can find out firsthand who you really are so what you post could just cost you a job.

Caution is the word now for me I don't needs a soothe Sayer to tell me this because I have seen people lose their jobs by posting a fun thing on social media but their employer didn't see the fun of that and got them fired. One have to be careful.

There's also the "On this day" posts on Facebook. That likes to remind you of everything you posted years ago. Every time I see mine I cringe at how shallow I was as most of the time I don't even remember what the post was about!

I kinda agree with you that it may have some things to do with age. Back in those days, I always post the way that I like, but I think that a whole lot has changed as I get older.

I do have several groups and pages in Facebook, that's why I'm extra careful when posting content because a lot of people are reading and watching my posts.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That caution should always be there. Your reputation is very important. Nobody should ruin it by posting nothing.

Some people are actually always looking for any reason whatsoever to attack you online on social media sites especially when they see that you have a very good reputation online. They would like to drag you down into the mud if you get into war of words with them.

Avoid such persons at all costs.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree. It's better to always be straightforward in your posts since there are some people who have the talent to be so cunning and be able to flip your words and imply that you mean something else when you are not careful with the words you use. Sometimes I also get confused and question myself and feel like, "Wait, was that what I meant when I posted that?"

This is true. It honestly just happened to a girl on my list. She's a nice girl and kind of popular, but she posted one thing and now it's all blown up on her face. It's gotten alarmingly huge and she's gotten a lot of haters because of it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Enyi
Definitely, especially if you hold any sensitive position anywhere. One just have to be careful of anything one needs to post. So before hitting the publish button one should be sure of what one is posting.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It is very dangerous not to mind what you write on social media. Search engines pick anything you write and may ruin your reputation. Always be mindful of what you post.

A lot of politicians have lost elections simply because of what they posted on social media sites before they had political ambitions.

Some people are of the habit of keeping a spying eyes on everything you do online and will be looking for an opportunity to use it against you.

Be careful!!!!

Even potential employers often google search anyone who sends in a resume to get a feeling of the kind of person they are.

It would be awful to lose out on a job opportunity because of something silly you’d posted online.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is true. There were also times that professionals and celebrities lose credit with the public for some comment they made on some post. Publicity may be a double edged sword. One time it may benefit you. Another, it may hurt you a lot.

There have been many cases where someone's post from the past, even when they were teenagers, has come back to the forefront when they become famous and negatively impact them. Once it's out there you cannot know the effect it may have on you personally and professionally. I always advise my friends to mind what they post and review thoroughly before posting.

I have even heard stories of politicians falling victim of this kind of things simply because they were quick to make comments on some things that relates to politics on social media.

Over 70% of people who makes use of the internet and social media sites all post their fake lives on these platforms.

So, making the grave mistakes of posting anything that would compromise my image would be something silly to do.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

JBeleren
Well, not necessarily fake, most posts are of the wonderful and positive things that happen to us and negative ones are almost always never posted. Now, there is nothing wrong in posting happy moments and sharing your happiness to others is a good thought, its just that it has been studied to be detrimental to individuals who are not doing good and may cause depression as all they see are the wonderful lives of their peers while they are suffering.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is true as people don't even share their failures on social media. This is because they want to feel on a high. This is the reason I don't really follow trends on social media as well.

Whenever I would see a controversial Facebook post by a friend I always exert effort to warn him about the consequences of his derogatory post. It is a risk when your post is accusing someone of a wrongdoing. Worse is when you share a post about a crime committed by someone. When the accusation is not true then you can be in hot water. I am careful in making negative posts because there is a possibility that someone will complain and I don't want to be tried by the cyber court. We have a cyber crime law here.

I see a lot of dramas like those you mentioned on Facebook. They're usually from my cousins, so I can't unfriend them or tell them off about it because I'm sure they'll aim their hate towards me. It sometimes get annoying when they post derogatory things and hateful statuses. Their defense is always "This is my FB and I get to post whatever I want." which is also a bit annoying. But it's true, it is their FB but still... they need more class. And I'm sorry I just ranted on your post!

Unlike what we always have with the proper writings where a lot of research is done, the things that we write on social media can get us in trouble if care is not taken to screen those kind of messages as well.

Are you careful on what you post onlie: Yes specially in social media, anything you post on social media is possible to spread easily if the post you made will gave an impact to the social media users. Specially if you post something irritating or something so cheesy for you theres no problem with it but in the eyes of the public they can see even a single flaws of you that will make you down then.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The share button on social media has not helped matters at all. I always feel that there is need for those that are making contents on social media to understand that it can truly affect them in a whole lot of ways as well.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

We need to be careful about posting on social media because there's a lot of people can read or see your post. Sometimes bad people can get your personal information and used it to scam people. Others are browsing in social media trying to get someone's personal identity and pretend that someone.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I find that unnerving. It's like people nowadays are preying on unsuspecting victims. I remember how social media used to be much safer compared to how it is now. Scams are plentiful wherever you look. Being informed about such things can help prevent you from being scammed.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I once heard about social media profile cloning and I believe that this kind of situation is real. We always have to do things to protect our image and ensure that we make posts that are helpful while staying away from the controversial ones.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It isn't even now because I read something some years back about publishing a bar thing online .so I have always being careful about what I post online. I leave everything that I need to say to offline. Internet never forgets.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's very true. The internet makes it so that what you said can never be forgotten. It can be really cruel to those who've made mistakes. Everyone can judge you for what you've done. Regardless of the context behind what happened.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Barida
Internet never forgets even when we have claimed to have forgotten. This is the reason we should always be careful when we post some things on the internet. The screenshot features has not helped matters as well as people can keep screenshots and make use of it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

This is something I always do. I make sure to read what I wrote before posting it online. You can't really be sure of how people will react. So I try to avoid anything that's offensive or confusing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is the thing as we can't really say what others will say about the things that we post online. There is need for us to always be careful of this to avoid some embarrassing moments as well.

Yes of course I usually get conscious whenever I am posting some comments in some social media sites such as the Facebook because people can easily make negative or positive comments based on what I post. I am very careful in my image because I don't want that they would make unnecessary things on my part.

I am always very careful about what I post online. I do not want someone seeing me doing something that is in bad taste or would be harmful to me in the future to get a job. I know that there are many employers that look at social media accounts nowadays.

I also only accept friends requests from those that I know and do not mind sharing things with. I am not like some who feel that having as many friends as one can have is what I need.

Yes, this is true. I already encountered someone who posted a status about our professor. He was my former classmate from some of my subjects when I was in college. It was a long message and he ranted all of his feelings and said some bad words about our professor. They were not friends in facebook but because one schoolmate told our professor about the status and read it. My professor was so angry and she made a file to the deans office to suspend my classmate for saying harsh words to her. From this point of view, we should be very careful of we what we post and do in Social media as there are consequences to it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

The idea of employers now checking up on the social media is one that is true as well. We should always try to understand that there is need for us to focus on the things that we do and do it right for the employers maybe making use of it.

Yes, I am and was always careful of what I post on any social media sites. One post can affect you personally and professionally. Also, a post that you write in the heat of a moment or while you are not clear headed can come back to haunt you in the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is true as most of the posts that we drop on social media is not always the one that is done with critical thinking. I have had experiences where I had to delete some of my social media posts after going through them and understanding that there is no need keeping them.

It depends of what type of content that I would share. If it was too personal, I would always if I have to post or not, there's nothing about sharing of your life or your thoughts but I usually double check it if this could have a positive outcome and do not affect others. If about some funny moments I usually post it and I never think twice before I post it, I will just post it right away and I know that I will make people laugh in a simple way.

With age comes wisdom. Compared to my really younger years when I used to post everything and anything that comes to mind. Now that I'm older and wiser, I only post pictures of family outings when we're already safe at home. I don't post that much status these days as some people tend to misread and misunderstand my posts and make assumptions. I am also more careful of things I share.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I'm always careful about what I post on social media. You never know who will read or see your post. There's this story I heard about a girl who was sending some photo to her boyfriend but sent it to her dad instead. Quite embarrassing it turned out to be.

For bloggers and anyone who wants to make money online, you should be extra careful what you post because potential customers and partners could read your posts and you don't want them to think you are an airhead or some bigot.

Most of the time. I make sure that I don't offend someone but If I am so disappointed about particular person, I would post or share somethings that will make him or her feel guilty from what that particular person did to me.

As a Christian, I am very careful with everything that I post on any social media sites. I always make sure that my post was something that can inspire other people. I know that being responsible with what you share on social media is a great act to a better communication.

Before posting something on my social media, I always think what are the implications if I write something that can offend to any body. I know we have a freedom of speech but sometimes we have to be responsible with what we are putting on our social media.

I am always aware of things that I upload and post on any social media site. I felt that I am obligated to have responsibility on the things that I posted. Since, It will influence others especially the young one's. Sometimes, what we do reflects our personality. People might misunderstood you because of those posted activity. This will have possibility of conflicts and arguments in later time.Plus, it's not always good to share your personal life in social media. Others may use it against you. Better to have security measures.

If we are not careful of what we post online. We will become a target for bullying and bashers on the internet. There's just a lot of them these days. There are many occasions that this kind of situations happen to a certain individual which they experience constant bashing from other people which they do not know because of only what the just post on their social media.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It maybe cowardly to use a fake name/persona online like these people who like to trash talk and bully people online but the way I see it, if they don't know your real name, then you're safe from real harm. I've seen so many public embarrassment on Facebook that I don't voice my opinions in public posts anymore. Innocent or guilty, you'll get trashed on with no warning. As long as there's a person behind a keyboard with too much time in their hands, there will be cyberbullying.

I most certainly do. Words have a way of attracting consequences be they spoken or written. I do well to be mindful of the things I post on social media and anywhere at all. I am guilty of going back to check through my old posts sometimes just so I can delete some of those things that don't just feel right anymore.

Thank goodness I uses social media for business. I don't believe in announcing my private life to the world. The internet never forgets and your life will be there for your great great great grandchildren to see. Imagine if its scandalous? I believe in keeping it all to myself whether good or bad. So yes I'm very careful about what I post on social media. I think everyone should be, it can come back to haunt you.

I'm careful about everything when it comes to online things. Specially on social media, payment processors, online banking and email accounts. But when it comes to posts. I'm very careful in posting commentary because there's a lot of bashers in social media threads and a single misguided comment might result to hundreds of crazy people threatening to kill me. I get that a lot because I do political commentary in the past.

There are two slogans that I heard and reminds me of responsible posting on any social media sites. The first one is "Think before you click". I heard this from a Television Station campaign about being responsible in freedomof expression. The other one is "As for me and my mouse (referring to a computer mouse) we will serve the Lord". The slogan was based from a Bible verse in Joshua 24:15 and it reminds us that we can also use our social media accounts to serve the Lord.

Careful online? Oh but of course. Online is no different from offline. The Bible says: "The tongue is an unruly evil and no man can tame it. But you need to learn how to bridle or control your tongue." Besides avoiding being cruel and offensive or insensitive, you need to be sure you're not giving out erroneous information and misleading people. Some people think that because they are online that makes them bullet-proof. Trust me. You are not! Ask people who have lost their jobs for saying something about their employer online. I'm not saying it was right for them to get fired. I'm just saying they found out they were not bullet-proof the hard way.

Yes, I always make sure that I review anything I post online. When I was younger I did post a lot of cringy stuff on Facebook and other social media site, now being an adult really regret posting those things. Now I don't frequently post on any social media site mainly because social media now is filled with trolls and other toxic individuals. There is always a saying if you want to post any content in social media always remember to think before you click.

To be honest with you, I'm an open minded person. A honest one, and without secrets. I can with ease tell everyone about myself, because I don't have any dark secrets about myself. I don't even have a credit card to begin with, haha. But obviously, online I wouldn't post my address and living location because it would make me feel uncomfortable. But to share something about myself? No problem at all!

I'm very careful as I'm paranoid a stalker/no life behind the keyboard will come steal my information and hunt me down in real life. I use and pay for a VPN service and I don't enter my real name in most sites. Only the ones with the green lock in the address bar.

I think that it is a must to be very cautious in every post or comments that we will make to some social media sites as it can give us some bad and negative impressions if we did not do it right. We might be bullied about it which makes our self stem become very low and would drag as to be embarrassed for not being careful as we cannot pleased everybody to do good things on us even though we are not doing something wrong for our selves and for all the people around us.
