Grammatical errors has been a serious problem to most writers and it's the use of grammarly that has put a full stop or reduced the issue to the smallest possible outcome. I have experienced using a typewriter during my primary school years. I am not that skilled in using it but somehow familiar how it works since my aunt works as a secretary and this is one of her most used office tool. I tried typing my report on my own and it took me a very long time before I was able to finish. Not just because I was slow in striking each letter but whenever I made a mistake, I would need to start all over again. That is just one of the things that writers today can thank the invention of computers for. Editing and deleting parts of the article is so much easier.

I have not used one but in my school there was this room where old relics were stored andd a typewriter was one of them. We would go into the room to see the artifacts and just trying out the typewriter made someone appreciate the beauty of innovation and technology. Its use is so complicated especially when you have been used to computers.

I remember that back in the province we have a typewriter. My aunts are a teacher in elementary and i witnessed how they make use of typewriters because back in the days computers are pretty expensive that's why they end up using the typewriter. Well, in our generation today, computers are really helpful to us. It can help us in various ways that's why we need to use it in a good way and let's not abuse it.

I definitely agree. It used to be so difficult to write stuff. Typewriters were clunky and often hard to use. And it was difficult to edit your work using them. Everything used to be manual labor.

But look at us now. There's a ton of software for writing and editing.

I remember the typewriter. I remember white out. I remember self-correcting typewriters where you could backspace and correct a typing error. I remember owning a typewriter that had a memory and I could save my document to a disk. I remember when my boss bought a word processor for the office and I taught myself how to use it. I no longer had to wait for the secretary to type my memos and reports because I could do it myself! YAY!!

Anything and everything that has been invented to help make my writing work quicker and easier I have likely tried. The only thing I have not tried are audio tools where you can speak the words you want to be written. The only thing aspiring writers need to be concerned about is technology making it quick and easy for others to STEAL THEIR IDEAS and profit from their hard work! Other than that, thanks to technology, writers are free birds!

I was able to use a typewriter. The pain of having typo error when you get near the buttom page. If you tolerate the sight of "touch-and-go" (liquid eraser) in your work, you can get away from it. But when you are or your instructor wants it perfect, you have no choice but to start from the top. The generation today are so lucky for having the technolofy.

I personally use modern technologies that we have now a days by taking advantage of the internet and I visit different sites especially with blogs which can inspire me more. I also take advantage of the social media sites because there are communities out there that can help you as well with your questions and the most beautiful thing is you can personally talk to them via chat. When it comes to tools, I usually the common software like MS Word and etx and I do manual editing too. The technologies are just there, I think you just have to keep on searching, read and read and learn and then it'll eventually lead you to the tools that you need. Basically, a writer can get some good tips by watching tutorials. So, you can go to YouTube, watch how to deal with writing for beginners, then start to download new apps that will make the work easier, and more tutorials on how to handle those apps. Honestly, technology will help you out a lot, but first you have to be read a lot, and have amazing grammar and spelling.

Oh, yes. I agree with you! I just forgot to mention it in my comment but it's true that most good tips come from video tutorials and I usually watch some of it too. You know what, I suddenly remembered one of my favorite blogger/vlogger who I just discovered in browsing to social media site and I really like his video tutorials. He teaches different tips on writing, content making, concepts on communication and so on. I forgot his name because he is actually a Japanese but his English skills is really amazing and I learn a lot from him. So yes, video tutorials are very much helpful for beginners. Well, reading is also a must.

We have to face it, sometimes they are really messy, and no matter how much the vlogger knows, he or she doesn't know how to share their knowledge, and you don't get anything they're talking about. Exactly! I can remember when I was still in the university and tried publishing my first book, I saw how difficult it was and how expensive it was to actually publish a book. I had three books to publish but I couldn't afford the cost or requirements, so I had to publish only one. But with the use of internet, it's very easy now to publish any good book writing especially in ebook.

I learned to write articles when the digital technology has been around. I don't think I would be using the typewriter for my learning because it is difficult. One mistake would need an eraser. But what if the mistake is one paragraph? The word processor is the best invention for a writer. In the past, for your book or article to be published you either had to find an agent to find the right publisher for your book or send a query letter to an editor to ask them if they'd like to take a look at your article. All these work was always followed by rejections. Get too many of these rejections and you'd probably never write again.

Now with blogs, or free online publishing platforms, you can at least publish anything you want. And the fact that what you are writing is being read by someone other than your friends or family can encourage to work harder and set loftier goals for yourself (as a writer).I suppose this is one way modern tech can help new writers.

Before the internet I don't think that it occurred to anyone that they could put their writing skills to good use. Now the sky is the limit. I think that the first and most basic tool that every newcomer must have is a basic desktop or a laptop. it is very necessary to have a computer when one does writing work online. Another way modern technology can help aspiring writers is this - Writing challenges. They help writers build "writing discipline."

There is NanoWrimo for example and other 30 day writing challenges.

What I like most about these writing challenges is that once a writer decides to, say, write a novel in 30 days you'll get all the encouragement you need from other writers to actually complete writing the novel even if it hard because they too, are doing it.

If they can do it, why can't you?

In the past attempting to do something like this and actually achieving your goals (in this case writing a book in a month) would be hard because if your enthusiasm flagged and you got no encouragement to keep going, you'd just give up.

And as these writing challenges help you build your writing discipline, you'll be able to consistently meet deadlines should you eventually work as a freelancer.
