How do you feel when your article gets rejected?

When I was in Highschool, I used to contribute in our school paper, but I only write using our native language. There was a time when our adviser assign me to write an English article about our country's grade system. I was nervous at first but I still agreed on writing the article. However, when I finished writing it and submit it to her, she told me that she cannot put it in the paper because apparently she forgot that she also gave that topic to one of the editor. I was really upset that time because it wasn't even reviewed by her, it was rejected because of her own carelessness.

Rejection or your article being rejected will obviously down heart you. Nowadays I have had so many articles rejected that am used to it. Rejection does not make me fret but move on. After all I can produce much more.

Well, I agree that after rejection you just need to move. I used to feel so bad whenever my articles got rejected. I later realized some clients will reject articles based on their feelings, while others will reject the articles as a means of exploitation.

Yea some are like that but nothing can be done about it than to move on but am sure they will face the drum one day.

Yes, I agree with that, don't feel down when your post got rejected, maybe it's just a trial for you to become more successful someday.

Yes, and make that rejection your motivation to di better.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, I agree with you. Sometimes no matter how good the article is, the client still rejects it.

I agree! Every time my article got rejected in the past I was so devastated and disappointed but now... I read the article again and I realize I can write a much more better article than this one and I do it. I send it again and they usually accept it. Now that is when I feel proud of myself.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yea, I think when articles are rejected it make you even stronger than you were before so it so cool and nice to be accepted after being rejected.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

When rejections come if you lack confidence (you are not quite sure your writing is good enough to be published) odds are you'll never submit an article again.

This is why writers must be learn to be confident. It is the one thing that will buoy you up when you desperately need the motivation to continue writing and submitting articles - many of which may still be rejected - until you get what you seek.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

yes, and if you make it your motivation.

I wish I can do that, until now I am still afraid to pass some sample or manuscript because I am afraid of getting rejected again.

I understand your feelings of being rejected. You work hard for it and yet it's not being reviewed by your adviser. You must understand that this is the reality in life and you have to accept it. It may hurt but it will make you strong. It's not everything that we do is appreciated and pleasing to others. What matter is you have done your best and face challenges in your life. I have so many rejection and disappointment in life. But, I learned to accept and face it with courage and humility.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes, I should keep on fighting and I should keep on writing.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Well, don't think it that way, because if you do that, you will just feel bad and it won't help you with anything.

Yes, you need to get up and be more motivated and write a good article.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's a nice way of handling things. A lot of us get hung over the details. We're too caught up in our rejection that we forget there are more opportunities out there. What matters is that we keep trying. Eventually, we'll get where we want to go.

I'm not really good with rejection. If my article gets rejected and I feel that the article is a good one, I would ask the site for the reason. If it's not a valid one then I won't go back to that site ever again. Also I'll write a dozen bad reviews about the site and scatter it all over the internet. That is, if the reason they give is not a reasonable one.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Judas2018
If it gets rejected for the reasons the Op listed, then it's no big deal. If it gets rejected for poor or shoddy quality, then that just means you need to do some touch-ups or get better at your craft.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Well that is really a sad experience and it really feels bad to be rejected after doing all your best just to have such article. Sometimes we cannot predict some situation like these and the best thing to do is move on and do not become so worried about it since it is not yet the end of the world. We can still write some article in due time and for sure there are still a lot of opportunities that is waiting for us. Just be positive and confident for your self and have the patience to wait for the right time.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you, I felt really bad about that time because I work hard for that article, I am not really good at writing english article but I tried my best and even check it through online grammar checkers and let my friends proofread it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes that is right since it give us the feeling of disappointment whenever someone rejected our article writing. It give us the feeling of a little embarrassment because we are thinking negative thoughts on our mind on some reasons why our article writing was not accepted.

Sometimes it might be just a section of the article that augered wrong with the editor or reader and in other cases they might be in a bad mood and we might take it heavily and think bad of ourselves.

Rejection is a part of life and we need to accept it gracefully. I think when you get older you are able to cope up with the disappointment associated with any kind of rejection. There are times when we have to reject the work of others. Most of the times our work gets rejected when it is not up to the mark or when someone else comes up with something better. Its always better to take rejection positively and move ahead after learning from our mistakes.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is true. Rejection should not take it negative. It should be take positive so that we can move forward and try again one more time. We need to prove them that we are deserving and not surrender easily.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes I agree with you, rejection should always see us as a positive results of our hard work. It is also a sign that we need to improve in some areas where we are weak so that next time around we can have already a success with it. I think it is just fine to have some rejection at some time because it give us the feeling of motivation to work hard next time so that we will not be rejected anymore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
It is good to be rejected sometimes to force us to move on and prove them that we can do things like they do. We should not surrender because rejection is just like a wake up call that no matter how good we are, there are times that our faith and patience will be tested.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes I agree with you, we should not surrender no matter how hard the situation is because it is only given to us to test on how strong we are in times of great difficulties. Rejection should be a call for us to improve more our knowledge because the world is always evolving and changing, we must adapt with it and go with flow.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is right. Some people when they rejected, they feel like emotional about it and it takes time for them to recover. That is wrong. We should forget rejection as fast as we can because if we will stick on that feeling, the more we cant move on about it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes it is really true and we must believe in our selves that we can make it to happen, rejection is just a beginning and it is not yet the end of everything. We must have the strength and the motivation to start again after experiencing some failure in life.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
That is right. No need to take it very serious and yet take your new steps to get in very seriously. Rejection is not as painful as what others feel about it,for me it is just a challenge that we need to overcome.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes I agree that it is only a challenge and we must not really take it seriously because it will just give us some heartaches which might affect our way of living. We really need to come up with a solution to overcome such failure.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes I agree with you, but there are times that one rejection will scar you for life.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

One thing all writers ought to keep in mind is that no matter how good a writer you are, eventually some of your work will be rejected (or the fans won't like something you've written and the book, short story collection, etc doesn't sell that much).

Rejection doesn't need to scar you for life. Get knocked down once, you should pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep going. But of course this depends on how badly you want something.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

mark8625
Definitely yes it will scar your life if you take it very seriously. It is up to the person on how they handle rejection. Handle it positively and you will never feel pain and yet you will feel motivated more.

I had also tried submitting an article to the school's paper when I was in high school. It was actually a part of our English subject's assignment and was a graded work. I gave it my blood, sweat and tears, so to speak that when it was not published, I really felt bad. Maybe that was one of the reasons why I did not prosper much in written English because I was frustrated with that rejection. But that was a long time ago and I was able to move on. Thanks to my office job that gave me the confidence to be myself in terms of English.

It is okay to feel bad when your article gets rejected. That is the initial reaction of anyone who experiences rejections. But we have to remember that acceptance is the key. We just have to learn from it and work harder to provide a better article. We need to respect their standards and let us be competitive to meet their qualifications.

Oh you just reminded me of my first ever rejection. I wrote a story for a magazine way back in the days when there were no computers and no Internet to tell you what not to do. It was a good story, but not at all suited to the women's magazine I sent it to. The story is lost, but now I would know where to place it. The editors were generous with their remarks, but felt the story too subjective for their magazine. Nowadays I would have turned it into a love story. It was about a time we tried to give money to a poor man who offered us a meal in the desert. He was most offended. Of course, now I know I should have sent it to a travel magazine, or an anthropological one.

Studying why an article or story might be rejected is a valuable thing to do. At college, we were told the writer, Virginia Woolf papered her walls with manuscript rejections.

Inspiring story of yours. Life must go on and never stop moving forward even someone rejected you from the past. Use that rejection as a motivation to keep your dream on fire and keeping the flame alive.

I think one must always be open to criticism. When my articles are rejected, I try to understand what mistakes I made, read the editor's suggestions and then I improve my writing. Of course, if I feel an article of mine is rejected unfairly, I also speak up. So basically, maintaining a professional balance is key.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

When a writer gets their first rejection, they'll be upset. When my horror story was rejected lots of questions whirled round my mind. Was my my writing that horrible? Was the editor unfair? Etc., etc.

All writers have some of their work rejected. Sure the feeling isn't that great but there is always a good reason why something you have written gets rejected. Sometimes it just is the editors already have everything they need.

When your article or story you've submitted somewhere gets rejected, try to sell it elsewhere. Someone else could buy it.

When your article or story you've submitted somewhere gets rejected, try to sell it elsewhere. Someone else could buy it.

I can confirm that I have tested this method and it works, although sometimes it takes time to sell. I once wrote 6 travel articles and they were all rejected. That made me feel so bad because the client rejected the work after some disagreement with the site owner.
After one week, I found someone who bought each article at $15, which was thrice the initial price.

Usually remember that writing is an artwork. There might be several reasons for a rejection. Even if your outcomes are flawlessly in order, a article submission could get rejected due to the end result presentation, grammar, formatting, or maybe submission to the incorrect subject. After you get the grasp on, you're probably to turn out to be unstoppable. You quick learn the how, what and where of journal submissions for greatest results.

People always take negative things like rejection for sometime and they keep on thinking about it. In the end they will lose focus and loss their self confidence too. We should not accept rejection in this way. Lets think the good sides of it like not giving up.

Rejection is a common thing, not only for writers but for every creator. As for me, I do not throw away what I have written as though they are useless. For some, I submit them to others who needs the same content. Others I keep for reference for future articles. Just never think that your effort was worthless, after all you have your output. Just think of it this way: you have your writing in practice, and it is not a mere thought anymore. You have already done the job.

It is a normal thing to be upset and get disappointed when you are rejected. However, that's not the end of everything. Always remember, nobody starts at the finish line. Sometimes it is necessary to separate the boys from men. Take note that failure is not the opposite of success, it is part of success and sometimes God allows you to fail not because you're a failure but because He wants you to learn something from that experience.

Honestly, I will feel pretty bad and down when I am faced with this kind of situation. I think that we should always look at ways that we can improve on the ways that we analyze situations which is one of the reasons we should try to understand things that happen to us. Seriously, it never feels good when you see all your efforts invested in writing an article being deemed not up to standard and outrightly rejected.

Sometimes, this kills off one's zeal to write for those freelance writers who are not well committed to the job.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

True. Getting rejected is really one of the disappointment of writers. I think that one of the reasons while writers stop writing is due to the rejections they have faced. It is hard to accept if someone rejected your work especially if you put too much effort into it.

Well, one thing that is very peculiar in life is that nobody is perfect in anything the individual is doing and when it comes to article writing, we all still need to improve on our work because we are definitely going to be criticized one way or another.

So, in essence what I'm trying to say is that when my articles are rejected, it only mean that I need to improve my work in order to have it accepted and approved.

It is understandable that you feel bad with what happened to you. It is because you worked hard for it and spend time and effort but your adviser lacks interest to even look at it. She should have reviewed it and compared to the work of the other student he/she assigned before dismissing your submission. Use this as a motivation to make your writing even better. That way, you will be preferred over the others.

The feeling is downright disappointment and at the same time frustrated when my first article rejected by a peer reviewed journal. Instead of admitting the mistakes as highlighted by the editor or reviewer, I maintained and insisted that my article was the best and the messages were very valid. It was the reviewer or the editor who did not understand or they were not supposed to be assigned to review my article as the were not qualified. That was the feeling I felt when my article was first got rejected.

I think that that was really horrible of her to do that. Many people in authority do not understand the effect that rejection has on some people. How do you reject someone’s article with such flagrant disregard to their feelings? I think also when we get to positions of authority we forget where we started from and we are caught up in our own power. Always treat people with consideration and respect no matter how junior you consider them.Getting an article rejected hurts.

In your case, your article was not rejected. Had she reviewed it and said some things about it that were critical then you could say it was rejected because of the things she said. But she basically said she was careless and forgetful. Clearly, the fault was hers. It had nothing to do with your writing.

I don't often have my articles rejected. But if one site does not accept an article, I usually take it to another site where it gets accepted. Hey! “One man's junk is another man's treasure.” I feel confident in my writing. I'm pretty sure that just because my written work did not meet the criteria for a particular site that doesn't mean it's totally unacceptable and can't be published anywhere! If your work gets rejected, stay confident and keep moving forward.

You have a nice positive attitude that can give you a better disposition in times of crisis. If you will remain that way then I guess you will go far with your writing because you show potential in terms of patience and perseverance. I know of some good writers who have a bad temper that we can expect how he would feel once he gets a rejection.

I think in writing we need to have a lot of patience and perseverance to do things on our own because it is a tough task that we need to fulfill. We cannot succeed in writing if we will be easily tempted by our anger or emotions. We need to show positive response and attitudes towards any challenges that we will encountered because life is full of obstacles for us to tackle.

I feel a variety of emotions. There may be times when I am upset with myself because I could have done better. There are times when I am upset with the client because they did not see me working my tail off. Other times I take it with a grain of salt and just think next time will be better.

I know that even the best writers have to improve. Or room for improvement. So, therefore, I try not to let it bother me that much if I have an article that is rejected. Because I feel that one can always learn from this.

My problem is that your article can be rejected for various reasons under the sun. What if the client is being over fussy, and they just dont like your work for some reason, not because its not well written or not grammatically correct, they just don't like it. In cases like this why take the blame? You have done the best you could have. Guys we have to be very careful about something like this or someone can bring down your self confidence. I already come up 5 topic but always rejected it makes me feel sad and i didn't make another one. After 3 weeks my adviser call my attention, i am so depress that time and i think can't graduate with my batchmate. She advice me in a way that she is not my adviser untill I came up a successful one and do depend it.
